The two were already on the first floor, having helped themselves to breakfast and now sorting scratch-off tickets.

Diana Sharp whispered, "Waking up in a new base every day is actually kind of fun."

Tina Jacobs yawned. "What’s so fun about it? It’s exhausting." Her hands, however, didn’t slow in the slightest, their movements having become habit.

Diana Sharp glanced at her, concerned. "Didn’t you sleep well?"

"It was okay. Not good, not bad. It’s just that the work hours have been a bit long lately," Tina Jacobs said.

They were basically working from eight in the morning to ten at night. There were meal breaks, but they had to get right back to work after eating.

"That’s true." Diana Sharp sighed. "But look at it from another angle. We have food and drinks, a place to live, we don’t have to worry about our next meal, and we don’t have to worry if Frost Shaw is in danger. Isn’t that great!"

"Never mind the long hours. Before, we didn’t even have work. We could only wait around at home, bored, in danger, and suffering."

Lily Hart came down from the second floor, one hand on her hip, letting out a huge yawn. She spotted Diana Sharp and Tina Jacobs with their heads together, whispering about something.

She didn’t ask what they were talking about, just poured herself a glass of warm water and GULP GULP GULP, downed it in a few gulps!

It was almost ten o’clock, peak time for the breakfast shop. There were even more customers there than at the lottery shop.

They must have read a guide and learned to stagger their visits, so they wouldn’t all crowd into one shop at the same time.

It wasn’t just the customers who went to the breakfast shop; Lily Hart had to go too.

She got in line behind them just like everyone else. Some customer with a keen eye just had to shout, "Boss Hart, you’re here to buy breakfast too?"

Lily Hart nodded, turning her head to yawn, still looking half-asleep.

"Boss Hart is here in person to buy breakfast! Everyone, make way!" As he spoke, he stepped aside himself.
