Chapter 195 - 137: Lin Feng’s Strength, Responsibility, Visit from the Thirteenth Division

Chapter 195: Chapter 137: Lin Feng’s Strength, Responsibility, Visit from the Thirteenth Division

"If the Capital falls, the victorious Mother Empress will grow to an incredible degree. So, if you’re still around then..."

Hearing Lin Feng’s words, Qin Hu’s eyes went wide. He took a deep breath, a hint of madness flashing in his eyes, and interrupted in a hoarse voice.

"Don’t worry... I know what to do."

"In the defense of the Capital, there are only Genetic Warriors who die with honor, not survivors who surrender to be captured..."

Lin Feng nodded slightly, his expression grave.

He watched as Qin Hu and his surviving team members dragged the massive corpse of the Pulse War Scorpion toward the second line of defense. The city gates opened, and several armored vehicles drove out, carrying them safely inside.

Lin Feng then returned to the Battleship and ordered them back into the heart of Zerg territory...

The foray into the Hive had been quite fruitful.

Not only had he harvested materials from a new Tier Two Zerg, but he had also obtained a powerful Close Combat Weapon. This gave him more trump cards for breaking through the Mother Empress’s Defense in the future.

With the Tiger-toothed Chainsaw Sword upgraded to Lv. 29, its 900 Basic Damage, paired with the Rapid Cutting attribute, could unleash a burst of 4,500 Damage—five times its base.

Even if the Mother Empress’s outer Armor was a meter thick, he could break its Defense in two or three seconds, then follow up with a continuous bombardment from the Electromagnetic Cannon...

’As long as it has a health bar, it can be killed.’

Even with tens of thousands of Life Value, it would just take a few more shots.

For now, however, it wasn’t time to retreat.

As Qin Hu said before he left, if they could suppress the Zerg Race’s surface offensive, the next step would be to deal with all the interconnected entrances to the Hive.

This would, one, cut off their oxygen and stop the Red-Armored Beetles from digging and expanding, and two, block the transport of all nutrients and food.

This would force the Zerg Race to exhaust themselves repairing the Wormholes.

’Qin Hu has a point.’

So he ordered the fleet deep into Zerg territory to fire several shells at every Wormhole entrance, ensuring the tunnels would collapse.

This would sever the connecting passages between Hives.

It would cause the Zerg Race armies in the Third-Level Hives to lack the oxygen they needed to convert the liquid hydrogen in their bodies and release the Energy that sustained their life functions.

At the same time, it would also weaken the deeper Second-Level Hives, and even the Nest five hundred meters below.

Unfortunately, Lin Feng had originally planned to return Underground to the Second-Level Hive. He’d wanted to see if he could get lucky and find some Tier Two Zerg Eggs to quickly finish upgrading his Chainsaw Sword.

But for now, halting the Zerg Race’s expansion was more important.

Besides, the appearance of the Samurai Hunter Zergs had made him give up on the idea of acting alone.

Those monsters were a greater threat to Awakeners than even a Tier Two Late Stage Tiger Spine Zerg. Lin Feng would rather face ten of the giant Tier Two Late Stage zergs than be surrounded and hunted by ten Samurai Hunter Zergs.

What’s more, according to the Identification data, the Samurai Hunter Zergs they’d encountered inside the Hive were only Tier Two Early Stage Zergs, below Lv. 24. The Mother Empress had yet to dispatch the Middle Stage or Late Stage variants.

Perhaps they had only just been developed and hadn’t been evolved to that extent yet. But their absence now didn’t guarantee their absence in the future.

’The next time I go deep into the Hive, I’ll need to bring a squad of fully armed Tier Two Awakeners. Against the high-attack, low-Defense Samurai Hunter Zergs, a defensive formation armed with Shotguns—with their 190-point power—would be perfect for the Underground Zerg Nest!’

As Lin Feng was planning his next trip into the Underground Hive, the sound of Cannons roared once more...

This time, the targets weren’t just the gathering places of the Swarm. Every Wormhole on the surface was bombarded by artillery, collapsing and disappearing one by one.

The sky was growing dark. The Sun had mostly set in the west, and a deep blue, starry night accompanied the rising moon, gradually blanketing the earth.

To finish the day’s work quickly, after dealing with all the Wormholes between the two defensive lines, Lin Feng gave a direct order: bombard the first line of defense, which the Zerg Race had already hollowed out.

Dozens of shells rained down. The collapsing main forts and walls sank into a deep pit, just like their former outpost, completely burying the openings beneath.

It took two hours to completely destroy all one hundred main forts along the twenty-kilometer stretch.

With that done, Lin Feng noted the late hour. Furthermore, the Tank’s Cannons had fired through more than half of their five thousand reserve shells that afternoon. They would need some time to be fully restocked.

The Zerg Race’s expansion had been pushed back beyond the Wu City District, leaving a ten-kilometer buffer zone to the second line of defense. For now, they could breathe a sigh of relief.

So Lin Feng gave the order to turn back and return to camp to rest.

He glanced at the time. It was already seven in the evening.

The grueling battle they had anticipated had become exceptionally easy after Lin Feng and Qin Hu delved deep into the Hive, slaughtered the Tier Two Tiger Spine Zergs, and dismantled the new Tier Two Zerg Race’s offensive.

After all, if even the Mother Empress couldn’t handle the Human Awakeners in the Underground Hive—the Zerg Race’s home turf—she certainly wouldn’t send a Swarm to the surface just to get slaughtered.

Weary and dust-covered from their journey, they rushed back to the temporary camp.

The crew had been through an intense, thrilling battle—though "high-speed demolition derby" might have been a more fitting description. Their bodies were slightly weary, but their spirits were soaring.

They had put on a spectacular show, especially in front of the Thirteenth Division’s defenders—their former teammates and the old veterans who had looked down on them. A fleet of just one hundred and fifty had easily suppressed the relentlessly advancing Swarm...

’Who would believe a report like that?’

He watched the soldiers outside, gathered in a makeshift parking lot ringed by Tanks. They had built a bonfire in the center and were excitedly discussing the day’s battle and their gains.

Already, more than half the team members had smoothly reached Tier One Late Stage Perfection. All that stood between them and a Tier Two Deep Awakening was a single Tier Two Zerg, or one of the Tier Two Zerg Eggs in the Sergeant Major’s possession.
