Chapter 244: Chapter 153: The Global Situation and Lin Feng’s Mental Realm (2)
Lin Feng was driving one of the jeeps, with only Ling Yi in the passenger seat. She glanced in the rearview mirror, her eyes falling on Shen Jie in the vehicle behind them.
"That squad leader of yours in the Legion—his Genetic Fusion went quite well, didn’t it? Aside from his appearance showing some Zerg Race gene encroachment, his mental state is completely fine."
Lin Feng shrugged. Shen Jie was a special case.
"He had a natural Awakening. He can absorb and assimilate the genes of other creatures, which is different from artificial synthesis. I’m already using his cells to develop a modification technique with the fewest physical side effects."
"However, it’s hard to make any breakthroughs on the spiritual side."
Ling Yi nodded matter-of-factly.
"The Spirit is related to the domain of Mental Realms. This is a field of technology that even Cosmic Races find difficult to master. They are the very foundation of existence for Tier Four and higher Cosmic Life."
"Wait a minute... you seem to have already mastered it, haven’t you?"
Lin Feng’s brow furrowed slightly as he turned his head to look at Ling Yi.
"Are you talking about releasing the Genetic Seal? I obtained that in the Zerg Race’s Spirit World."
A trace of shock flashed across Ling Yi’s face, but she quickly hid it and asked with feigned surprise:
"So you personally experienced that memory as well?"
Lin Feng, focused on driving, merely grunted in acknowledgment before explaining:
"I killed one of the parasitic mothers under your command and obtained its Spiritual Energy. As I was advancing to the Tier Two Late Stage Peak, my Spiritual Power broke through to Tier Three ahead of schedule, and I accidentally entered the Zerg Race’s Spirit World."
"Perhaps that’s the Realm Inheritance you were talking about."
"Back then, the Zerg Race’s High Tier scientists used advanced genetic technology to hide the covered-up truths of the past within the Realm Inheritance..."
"Wait..."
At this point, Lin Feng suddenly realized something...
Meanwhile, Ling Yi, as if confirming some critical piece of information, let the corners of her mouth curve slightly upward.
"That’s right. It seems you’ve already gained a preliminary grasp of the Mental Realm. The only thing missing is a vessel to accept it."
"If you’re willing to be injected with Zerg Race genes and become a Genetic Warrior, you can directly obtain the Zerg Race’s Realm Inheritance, thus gaining the ability to kill a Tier Three Early-stage Mother Empress."
"After all, even inside the Divine Realm, both you and a Mother Empress can come and go as you please..."
Lin Feng sank into thought. It sounded like it was a way to Upgrade his Genetic Radiation Skill into a higher-level Mental Realm.
All it needed was a suitable vessel to fuse with, allowing it to manifest physically—transforming it from a Skill that required a price to activate into a spiritual instinct.
With this in mind, Lin Feng continued to ask:
"These Genetic Fusions... the mass-produced hybrids they create must have a lot of defects, right?"
Ling Yi hummed in agreement, not trying to hide anything:
"Of course. Otherwise, naturally born Cosmic Life wouldn’t be so rare."
"On a physical level, advancing to Tier Four requires not only an extremely strong spiritual will, but also more than half of a species’ Genetic Library. This is used to forge a perfect genetic sequence, allowing the physical body to bear greater and stronger Power and to autonomously absorb or release various forms of Energy."
"Hybrids, on the other hand, lack the benefit of long-term natural evolution. Neither the genetic diversity accumulated by their race nor their population numbers are sufficient to support them in becoming a complete Cosmic Life. Even if they advance to Tier Four, they will always be a step weaker in physical combat."
"As for the spiritual and consciousness aspects, the difference is even more pronounced."
"If it’s a simple case of upward compatibility—for instance, a primitive human fusing with an advanced Zerg—they would only inherit the Zerg’s Mental Realm, which is somewhat manageable. But if two different Realm Inheritances are involved, they can easily lose their sense of self and regress into a lower animal."
"For example, fusing the Dragon Race with Zerg Race genes is ten thousand times more complex than creating a human-Zerg hybrid, and it’s extremely difficult to produce a stable Tier Four Cosmic Life."
"However, some Divine Realms in the Cosmos where Deities gather specialize in producing these Tier Four, or even Level 5, Beast Slaves. They are created to be sold and traded among the great clans, or for the entertainment of Divine Descendants."
"So, in a way, what our Zerg Race is doing right now is merely clearing new territory and training our troops; it’s nowhere near the level of a colonial invasion. An opponent worthy of being called an ’invasion target’ must be, like the Zerg Race, a Divine Descendant race that once had Deities for ancestors."
Hearing the faint pride in Ling Yi’s calm explanation, Lin Feng couldn’t stop the corner of his mouth from twitching.
’There was nothing more demoralizing in the world than this.’
’The Zerg Race had never even considered humanity an opponent worth noticing.’
’A planetary race that couldn’t even fully control its own Star System had no place on the cosmic stage.’
Lin Feng sighed softly. Any thought he’d had of trying her suggestion was quickly extinguished, and he turned to consider another possibility.
"Forget it, then. My awakened Superpower is Copy and Synthesis. After experiencing the Zerg Race’s Spirit World, I gained the ability to briefly use that memory-implanting intent. The price, however, is similar to when you activate Domain Descent—it permanently consumes my own Level-based Power..."
"If I were in the Underground Nest and used this ability on the Zerg Race Mother Empress, could I make it lose focus for a moment, giving me an opportunity to kill it?"
Ling Yi looked down, pondering for a moment.
"It’s possible, but the effectiveness of this memory activation is related to the target’s Spiritual Attributes. The stronger their Spiritual Power, the shorter the effect will last."
"Taking Tier Three as the benchmark, Zerg below that can be stunned for several minutes. For those above it, the duration quickly shrinks to about ten seconds. Against a Tier Three Mid-stage Mother Empress, it might last for less than a second. As for a Late Stage one, it would have almost no effect at all."
"The gap in Spiritual Power between the two of you is simply too vast. In fact, its Mental Realm would be able to instantly affect your own mental state."
