Chapter 460: Chapter 227: Upgrade Battle Armor, The True Meaning of Bound Equipment
Lin Feng had countless tactics for surface battles to eliminate the High-tier Zerg Race. This was one of the reasons he’d chosen to head north and provide reinforcements in the first place.
The environment here was relatively harsh, the soil barren and hard.
When launching an attack, the Zerg Race Mother Empress had no choice but to break through the soil and fight on the surface, turning it into a living target for beyond-visual-range strikes!
Right now, Ling Yi looked at the highly futuristic Laser Weapon in Lin Feng’s hand and realized it had been worrying for nothing.
It nodded and said,
"Alright, then. As for this precious thing..."
"Just take it. There’s nothing worth sticking around for here anyway. We need to get to the other main Hive of the Yunxia Ridge Zerg Race to the west as soon as possible and bring those leaderless Swarms into the fold."
"Besides, it looks like the Yunxia Ridge Mother Empress set up the incubation Nest for the Tier Two Zerg Eggs inside that western Hive."
Lin Feng grunted in acknowledgment, then asked how to handle the massive Zerg head behind him.
"Even though most of it has been hacked off, this thing still weighs a good few hundred tons. Can you summon a batch of Red-Armored Beetles to help haul it out?"
Ling Yi crooked its index finger against its chin, studying the half of the head Lin Feng had hacked and torn away. The Mother Empress Zerg’s ferocious, now-unrecognizable face was submerged in a pool of blood, exposing the cross-section where the neck had been severed.
The Golden Neck Guard that had protected the brain was already snapped in two by Lin Feng. The other half was still inside the shrunken head—now only a dozen or so meters in diameter—and it encased a full ten cubic meters of Mother Empress Brain Marrow.
It was located in the very center of the Zerg’s brain, the source of the Mother Empress’s immense Spiritual Power.
For this very reason, the heavily protected Mother Empress Brain Marrow was actually incredibly fragile. The slightest significant impact would cause it to leak massive amounts of Spiritual Energy, all of which would go to waste.
So, the best way to transport it was to take the entire head.
However, when Ling Yi released its Spiritual Power and activated its Infinite Reproduction Realm, it discovered that barely one in a thousand Red-Armored Beetles in this Hive had survived. There had originally been tens of thousands, but now only a few dozen remained. To make matters worse, many of those were low-grade Red-Armored Beetles that the Yunxia Ridge Mother Empress had hastily spawned while fleeing for its life.
They were nothing like the lv9 Giant Red Beetles, which could each carry over a ton.
"This is your fault, you know. When you came in, you were frantically firing Electromagnetic Cannons into the Hive, causing huge swathes of those Low-tier Red-Armored Beetles to die. And now, we can’t even scrape together the few hundred needed to move this head."
Ling Yi added reproachfully after explaining the situation.
The corner of Lin Feng’s mouth twitched. He’d seen the Mother Empress trying to escape and hadn’t thought it through, simply unleashing a saturation bombardment with Magnetic Storm Bombs.
He just hadn’t expected his squadmates behind him to see this and follow suit, also launching Magnetic Storm Bombs. They had electrocuted every Low-tier Zerg Swarm in the massive Nest, aside from a dozen or so Tier Two Tiger Spine Zergs.
And now, when they actually needed some live Red-Armored Beetles, there were none to be found.
"Can we trim this head down? If you can get it down to around a hundred tons, I can lift it and carry it out myself."
After advancing to Tier Three, boosted by his 1,500-point Physique Attribute Value, Lin Feng now possessed a Basic Power of one hundred fifty tons—more than double what it was when he was at the Tier Two Peak.
At full exertion, he could approach two hundred tons.
While he couldn’t lift the massive seven-to-eight-hundred-ton head before him, he could easily manage just the Golden Neck Guard and the Mother Empress Brain Marrow it protected.
After considering Lin Feng’s suggestion for a moment, Ling Yi nodded.
"That’s possible, but you’ll have to be careful. Without the protection of the head’s outer flesh, the inner skull alone won’t provide any cushioning. The slightest bump could damage the crystal structure inside."
Since things had come to this, their only option was to leave the Nest as quickly as possible. Lin Feng took a deep breath, then nodded in agreement.
Ling Yi immediately stepped forward and plunged its hands into the mangled flesh of the Mother Empress’s head. As it absorbed the residual Biomass from the tissues, it released its Realm Power to dissolve all the flesh outside the Golden Neck Guard.
Meanwhile, Lin Feng used the free moment to pick up the cracked piece of the Golden Neck Guard at his feet and walk to the Hive entrance.
The twelve remaining Tier Two Late Stage Battle Group members were the ones who had killed the Tiger Spine Zerg guards here inside the Hive.
Because they were several hundred meters away, they had been minimally affected by the Divine Realm. Their chromosomes were only slightly tainted, and they hadn’t developed the widespread, grotesque Zerg-like limbs on their bodies like he and Liu Yi had.
So after a round of "purification" treatment from Ling Yi, they had already fully recovered and were still conscious. Mentally, however, they had become somewhat listless after experiencing the terror of the Hive Will.
Seeing Lin Feng approach, they all scrambled to their feet and saluted.
Lin Feng waved a hand.
"Rest a bit longer. We’ll be leaving soon, and you’ll need to support your two commanders."
Lin Feng then easily ripped the Giant Mandibles off the corpse of a Tier Two Tiger Spine Zerg and fused them into his tattered Flying Tiger Armor, using Particle Control to repair it.
Previously, the organic matter within the Flying Tiger Armor had been twisted and mutated by the Divine Realm’s energy radiation. It had formed into grotesque Zerg-like limbs, but after losing their energy source and due to their own structural flaws, they had all exhausted their Life Force, withered, and died.
However, that same blast of Divine Realm radiation had also severely damaged the lv29 Flying Tiger Armor, and its Battle Armor Durability had plummeted to just 2 points.
If Lin Feng hadn’t used his Particle Control Realm to intervene in time, it would have likely mutated to the point of complete disintegration under the Divine Realm’s radiation.
