Chapter 517: Chapter 246: Synthesis, A Visit From the Federation, Probing and Frankness

Hearing Lin Feng put away the documents and ask with a smile, General Chen swallowed nervously. After dismissing his attendants with a wave of his hand, he asked in a low voice:

"Regarding General Qin’s Southern Corps, I wonder what your thoughts are, City Lord Lin?"

This was a crucial point. As humanity’s only Tier Three Awakener and the sole absolute powerhouse capable of directly killing a Mother Empress...

If he were to side with Qin Hu, then today’s matter would become extremely tricky.

Lin Feng’s power alone was enough to influence the current global situation. And that was before considering his Salvation Army and the Jin City Base, which was now running smoothly...

If he so wished, unifying the entire Southern Federation would be as easy as lifting a finger.

After the last gathering in Jin City, many major powers had tried to make a move on their way back, only to be crushed by a Tier Two Battle Group dispatched by Lin Feng. Several Tier Two Awakeners were killed or injured in the process.

Fortunately, General Chen had learned in advance of Lin Feng’s private relationship with the Steel United Group and warned his subordinates and colleagues to change their attitude toward the Steel Alliance Group.

Otherwise, they would have needlessly lost several formidable warriors and simultaneously made an enemy of Lin Feng.

Now, forced by the circumstances, Qin Hu had already torn away all pretenses. General Chen, representing the Federation’s high command, had no choice but to come and ascertain Lin Feng’s stance.

Hearing the general’s hushed question, Lin Feng didn’t answer directly. Instead, he began to recount what he had seen and heard the previous day:

"This morning, right after I killed the Mother Empress at Yunxia Ridge, numerous Zerg Race Mother Empresses from the south and southwest received the news. They all mobilized their entire broods and began advancing, wanting to occupy this territory."

"It seems your arrangements went far beyond simply providing support."

"That..." General Chen heard the implication in Lin Feng’s words and quickly tried to explain, but Lin Feng raised a hand to stop him.

Lin Feng continued:

"I hold no grudges over this matter. The location of Yunxia Ridge is indeed critically important. It’s practically a chokepoint, the main passage from the eastern North to the west. From there, one can drive straight through and capture the numerous bases in the Northwest."

"So, in order to defend Yunxia Ridge against the combined assault of a Swarm of over a hundred thousand and four Mother Empresses, I had no choice but to go to the defensive line south of the Capital. I needed to find the garrison stationed there and request that they march out of the city to provide support and tie down the Zerg Race."

"As it turned out, I happened to run into General Qin Hu, whom I had met on the battlefield in Wu City in the South. It’s a coincidence, actually. Back when I was just some unknown kid, it was Qin Hu who led us in our escape from Hai City as it was about to fall."

"After I told him about the situation, I took a detour to the center of the Capital City. I wanted to see how the Northwest’s breakout plan was progressing."

"And it’s a good thing I went. As soon as I got there, I immediately sensed that the Capital’s high command had already surrendered to the East District Mother Empress. They were even planning to sacrifice the million survivors in the city to help this Mid-stage Mother Empress advance to the Tier Three Late Stage."

"Not only that, but they had also schemed to entrap Qin Hu’s Southern Corps, intending to sacrifice all one hundred fifty thousand soldiers and tens of thousands of Awakeners to the Zerg Race Mother Empress..."

"I don’t think anyone could stomach that."

"Through our joint efforts, Qin Hu successfully led his soldiers in a breakout from the south. He also managed to rescue a million survivors, shattering the traitorous high command’s sacrificial plot in one fell swoop..."

"This act not only directly saved a million survivors but also thwarted the plan to create a Tier Three Late-stage Mother Empress, saving the entire northern region."

"Otherwise, once a Tier Three Late-stage Mother Empress appeared, even I would have had to beat a hasty retreat. I would have returned to Jin City Base overnight before even considering a counter-strategy."

"A Tier Three Late-stage Mother Empress can hatch a large number of Tier Three King Zergs, just as easily as they breed the Tier Two Zerg Race!"

"No conventional weapon can effectively inflict Damage on the Tier Three Zerg Race."

"At that point, your two to three hundred thousand soldiers would be completely defenseless. The entire North would be trampled into a hellish wasteland under the torrent of the Zerg Race’s iron-hard feet!"

After speaking, Lin Feng looked at the pale-faced General Chen and continued slowly, his tone grave:

"Now, you ask me what I think of Qin Hu, his corps, and his exposing the traitors..."

"I will say only this: after leaving the Capital City, he stationed his troops in the nearby Beihai Town to rest and regroup. He has not fled the front lines!"

"Frankly, I couldn’t care less about your internal power struggles and political maneuvering. I only care about one thing..."

"Whoever is still fighting on the front lines against the Zerg Race invasion is who I will support!"

"You should be well aware that the successful breakout was just the beginning of a new phase of the war. The Zerg Race is still expanding. We are far from safe!"

"The four Mid-stage Mother Empresses that once surrounded the Capital are already stirring, secretly plotting a new offensive."

"I will stay here for a few more days. I plan to kill one of them to make an example of it, to intimidate the other Northern Mother Empresses and slow the Zerg Race’s offensive!"

"This will require several Nuclear Bombs—perhaps even a high-yield Hydrogen Bomb—and several hundred tons of Fine Steel."

"In exchange, after I have accomplished this, I will consider handing Yunxia Ridge over to you to garrison."

After hearing Lin Feng’s words and his subsequent plans, General Chen drew in a sharp breath.

Lin Feng had made his stance clear and stated his terms.

As a soldier, he wholeheartedly agreed with Lin Feng’s perspective. But as a high-ranking official of the Federation, he had to report every last detail of this matter to the high council.

It would be up to them to discuss and vote on whether to accept this deal with Lin Feng.

Right now, Lin Feng’s stance was clearly in favor of Qin Hu.

’The Federation had to make a commitment to win him back to their side!’
