Chapter 2: SSS Level Ability?!

[The first SSS Ability granted to you is SSS Level Storage Ability.]

[This ability allows you to gain essential resources like water, food, weapons and medicine, with every mutated beast that you kill, and they will be stored into the unlimited storage space.]

[You will have this ability for 3 days and if you can kill off 200 mutated beasts within these 3 days, you get to keep the Storage Ability.]

[If you can’t achieve it, all the resources you’ve gained in the storage space would disappear with it when the 3 days are over.]

[Current status: 0/200]

[Day 1 of 3 for SSS Level Storage Ability.]

Alex felt pain in his mind when knowledge about the ability and how to use it came into his mind.

This went on for a few moments before it stopped.

Beads of sweat appeared on his brow and he wiped them off.

He frowned at what had just happened and the barrage of information that he had just received.

It was now apparent to him that it was the start of the apocalypse with what was happening.

There was also the fact about awakening abilities.

He pondered and thought about whether there were others who had awakened abilities like he had.

And lastly, which was the most important of all, these so-called mutated beasts might not be in their final form yet.

The birds, dogs and cats which have gone crazy looked the same and he wouldn’t call them mutated.

There was but one possibility left.

And it was that they were in their initial stage of their mutation which hasn’t affected their appearance yet.

Many other thoughts started to enter Alex’s mind and he shook his head and inhaled slowly to calm himself down.

Panicking was the worst thing to do now.

Staying alive and keeping his friends safe was the best thing he could do instead.

Being an orphan, his friends never looked down on him for it and they had helped him in any way they could.

Alex wasn’t going to leave them in the lurch now that he had awakened the SSS Level Storage Ability.

He glanced at the corridor outside his dorm room and he headed towards Brian’s room.

It was chaotic out here with the other students scurrying around not knowing what to do next.

"Hello, 911 there’s... hello... anyone there?"

"Mum, you wouldn’t believe what is happening here on the campus."

"Brother, get me out of here soon, did you see the video I sent you? I’m scared right now."

Some of them called the cops but the line was busy, some called family and they tried to arrange to get out of the campus.

When they saw Alex walking by with a baseball bat in his hand and a backpack that was full, they couldn’t help but glance at him with a weird look.

Then, when they were busy with their phones, someone screamed down at the end of the corridor.

"Help! Get them off me!"

Alex hurried over and it was a student lying on the ground, with his body covered with rats.

The rats had come down from above, where once the air-con duct cover was, it was gone now.

These rats must have broken the cover and got their way out of the air-con duct.

But it was not over yet.

Many more of the rats came down from above.

Alex held his baseball bat with his two hands and he swung it at the rats.

Surprisingly, his movements were much swifter and more powerful than before.

Thud.

The rats that were hit got smashed onto the wall and they dropped onto the ground motionlessly afterwards.

Alex didn’t stop and he kicked at the rats that were biting at the student on the ground.

His kick sent some of the rats hurtling through the air.

Some of the rats changed target and came at him instead.

He didn’t hesitate and he smashed his baseball bat down at them.

Thunk!

The baseball bat hitting onto the bodies of the rats made a sound whenever it landed.

And the rats were squashed into a mangled mass by it.

But it wasn’t enough as the rats were too numerous, and some of them got onto his legs and they tried to crawl up towards the body of Alex.

Alex changed his strategy and he took out the knife he had in his pocket.

He used the knife and slashed at them.

Slice.

The sharp blade of his knife sliced the bodies of the rats open easily.

One by one they dropped off and soon, there weren’t any more rats that came at him.

The rats went after the other students instead.

"Help me!"

"Get away, you piece of shit!"

"What should I do?"

Some of the students froze in panic, while some who still had the mind to react tried to stomp the rats to their death with their feet.

Others went back into their room and closed the doors of their dorm room, hoping that the rats wouldn’t get them and things would go back to normal eventually.

Alex didn’t stop and he went after the remaining rats.

He was on a mission to hit the 200 kills required to retain the SSS Level Storage Ability and it was best if he could do it fast while the mutation of the beasts was still in the initial stages.

Splatter.

Blood and flesh of the rats splattered when Alex’s baseball bat smashed onto their bodies.

There were only a few of the rats left now and he finished the job quickly.

When he was done, he wiped the blood and flesh with fur that was stuck on his baseball bat off with the carpet on the ground.

After that, he stood up and gave out a sigh at the ghastly sight that was in front of him.

It was a gory scene with blood, intestines and flesh of the rats strewn around in the surroundings.

A few of the students who were still outside in the corridor gagged at the stench that filled the air.

Others glanced at Alex and said, "Thanks so much for the help..."

They thanked him but he wasn’t too interested to stick around.

He had somewhere to go.

And when he moved off, the familiar sound erupted in his mind again.
