Chapter 29: Tough Battle

Alex grimaced at what he saw and heard.

These mutated beasts were more cunning than he had expected

Riley, Terry and Brian also thought the same.

"Disgusting piece of shit!" They shouted and they unleashed their abilities at the newt.

Bubbles that were surrounding Riley flew at the newt trying to stop it from getting away.

The newt opened its mouth and a high pitched sound rang through the air.

Boom!

Riley’s bubbles exploded before they could reach the newt.

Fireballs from Brian followed in the next moment, lighting up the darkness as they traveled in the underground car park.

But when they got near the newt, the mouths that were on its body opened together at the same time.

EEEE—.

A high pitched voice from the mouths filled the air and the fireball blew up in flames before they could reach the newt.

The voice also caused immense pain for Alex and the others.

Sharp pain affected their ears and it brought with it a splitting headache.

They had to use their hands to cover their ears to lessen the pain.

It worked but Alex knew that they couldn’t be doing so for a long time.

The newt started walking towards them.

"What’s the range of your ability?" Alex glanced over at Alice and asked.

"Around... 3 meters..." Alice replied with her face in agony from the pain.

"Riley, attack the newt from its left. And Terry, attack the newt from its right while Brian keeps distracting it from its front."

Alex said and his friends nodded their heads.

Whoosh.

Brian hurled a few more fireballs at the newt and the rest took the opportunity to split and ran in separated directions.

The newt opened its mouth at the fireballs and the high pitched voice rang in the air again.

Boom.

In an instant, the fireballs exploded in flames and dissipated.

While this was going on, Alex had pulled Alice along and they were on their way to get around to the rear of the newt.

"Die you bastard!" Riley shouted and he created more bubbles to shoot them at the newt.

Brian joined in from the other side with his sharp metallic rods.

When the bubbles and sharp metallic rods shot at the newt, the limbs that were jutting out from the newt’s body started moving up and down.

The limb’s movements stirred the air and the vibration from it caused even the pillars of the underground car park to shake.

All of the bubbles and sharp metallic rods also vibrated from it and they either exploded or wobbled out from its trajectory.

"Argh!" Riley, Brian and Terry were also affected by the vibrations caused by the newt’s attack.

They felt their innards being stirred and their hearts being pounded by an invisible hammer.

Pain from within their bodies made them stop for a moment.

Fortunately for Alex, his storage portal was able to shield him and Alice from it and they were spared from the effects of the newt’s attack.

The newt, sensing that, inhaled a long breath and it pulled back its head.

But before it could unleash its next attack at Brian, it stopped.

It was sinking down into the concrete ground.

The newt tried to move its feet but the liquefied concrete made it tough for it to do so.

And while it was struggling with Alice’s ability, Alex took the opportunity to unleash his attack on it.

A slit appeared on top of the newt’s head and it opened up into a portal.

Droplets of acid rained down from it.

Sizzle.

The acidic droplets started burning through the skin of the newt but it was not the end of it.

Poisonous gas emitted from the portal and after the newt drew in a lungful of it, the newt thrashed around in pain when its airway burned from the poison.

After which, a swarm of bubbles flew out from the portal and they exploded near the head of the newt.

Splatter.

The explosion from the bubbles ripped out a part of the top of its head, and the skin, flesh and white matter from it splattered out into the surroundings.

But it wasn’t enough.

The newt was still standing tall and alive.

A few sharp metallic rods shot out from Alex’s portal and they plunged into the exposed portion of its head.

The sharp end of the metallic rods penetrated through the soft tissue and bones of the newt easily.

After suffering such a devastating wound, the newt staggered from left to right for a few moments.

It tried to get away from Alex and the others but it could only take a step forward before it stopped in its tracks and dropped to the ground.

Brian used his fireball to light up the area and he walked towards the body of the newt cautiously.

Alex let him be as a familiar sound had erupted in his mind.

Information panels with words appeared in it.

[Congratulations Host for killing off 1 mutated beasts.]

[Dispensing rewards now:]

[10x bottles of water.]

[All items are stored in your storage space now.]

[Day 2 of 3 for SSS Level Storage Ability.]

He frowned when he saw the rewards.

It seemed like for the Stage II mutated beasts, some were much tougher to deal with than the others.

"We did it!" Terry punched his fist into the air and said triumphantly.

"Shh!" Riley put his finger on his lips to shush him up.

The others were used to their antics by now and they ignored them.

Alex headed towards the diesel storage room with Alice and Brian.

"Wait for us!" Terry shouted and he quickly ran to catch up to them with Riley.

When Alex got to the diesel storage room, the door was locked with a padlock.

He grabbed it and with a forceful tug, he pulled the padlock off together with the chains.

Alice was astonished when she saw how strong he was.

In actual fact, Alex was also surprised by it himself.

He had wanted to test out how much stronger he was after killing so many more of the mutated beasts and apparently, it was a lot.

Creak.

The door of the diesel storage room creaked opened.
