Riley’s dorm room was near to Brian’s and it didn’t take Alex and the others too long to reach it.

Creak.

The door creaked open when Brian pushed it.

What was inside the room was very different from the other students.

There were maps with red dots that Riley had marked as areas that were most suitable for survival if anything happened, along with much camping gear and equipment laid around the room.

Alex would have never before thought that all of these would come in handy.

He grabbed the maps while Brian and Terry went around looking for weapons that would be suitable for them.

Fortunately, when they rummaged through the drawers, there were a few survival knives and knuckle dusters inside.

Both of them took one each and they went on to look around for something that had more reach.

But after looking around for a few moments, there weren’t any.

"I guess this will do in the meantime." Brian said when he took the broom and mop from the corner of the room and handed the mop over to Terry.

Terry frowned when he was handed the mop and said, "Ew. It’s still dripping wet."

Brian rolled his eyes and he pointed his palm at the end of the mop.

Flames appeared around it and the heat quickly dried the water from it.

Alex was impressed at how fast Brian’s control of his ability was getting more proficient.

Their chances of survival would be better if they weren’t pushovers.

He glanced over at Terry and asked, "Are you able to control your ability better now like Brian?"

Not wanting to lose out to Brian, Terry stood up straight, thumped his chest at Alex and said, "Of course, you think that I was slacking?"

Terry raised his hand for it to turn metallic, and change its form into a sharp end.

"Great." Alex saw the broom and mop they were holding and he said, "Break the end of the stick and sharpen them with the knife.

"Keep the other end, it would come in handy to drive the rats towards me."

He would want to kill off as many rats as he could for the reward and they could help by directing the rats to him with the mop and broom.

"Why didn’t we think of that?" Terry said and he did what he was told together with Brian.

It didn’t take them too long and they were done very soon.

"Now that we are ready, it’s time to go and rescue Riley." Alex patted on the back of Terry and said.

The three of them got out of the room, locked the door and they proceeded to walk down the stairs to the ground floor.

Students who were outside of their room frowned when they saw the three of them.

The scene with Alex holding his baseball bat, Brian holding a broom and Terry holding a mop was hilarious to them if not for the chaos they were in.

When they got to the lower floor where Alex had come from, Brian and Terry nearly gagged and vomited, when they saw the smudge of blood and the body of the student that was still lying on the ground.

"Don’t look, keep walking." Alex said to them and they nodded their heads.

It might take time for them to accept the fact that things are different now, but this was not the time for it.

Best to stay focused on their rescue of Riley.

Alex thought while they continued their way down to the ground floor.

Finally, when they reached the ground floor, it was empty outside.

"Let’s go." Terry said and he wanted to run out of the entrance towards the Business Building.

Alex recalled what had happened earlier with the birds attacking from above and he quickly pulled him back.

"What?" Terry was perturbed and asked.

"There are birds that would attack from above." Alex replied and he looked around for something useful.

He saw the fire extinguisher and he took it off its rack.

"Here, one of you spray it at the birds when they come at us." Alex passed the fire extinguisher to Brian and Brian took it.

Terry held the broom for Brian with his other hand and they were ready to make a run for it.

"Ready, on the count of three. One, two, three." Alex counted and when he reached three, they ran out of their dorm building.

It didn’t take too long before they heard the shrieks and chirping of the birds from above.

One of the birds swooped down at them and Alex swung his baseball bat at it.

Thud.

The baseball bat hit onto the bird and it turned into a splatter of blood and flesh.

But it was not over for them.

Many more of the birds came swooping down at them.

Whoosh.

Brian sprayed the fire extinguisher at the birds and it successfully warded them off for a few moments.

The three of them took the opportunity to make a dash for it.

"Hurry!" Alex shouted when he got into the Business Building but Brian and Terry were still behind him.

Brian turned around and aimed the nozzle of the fire extinguisher at the birds coming at him and Terry.

Whoosh.

The spray from the fire extinguisher lasted only for a moment before it died out.

Some of the birds came at him immediately.

Thud.

Fortunately, Alex and Terry came to his rescue with their baseball bat and mop.

They smashed the birds out of the air, dragged Brian into the entrance of the building and closed it.

The birds didn’t stop and they came at the glass door of the entrance.

One by one, they hit onto the glass and dropped to the ground.

Brian and Terry were stunned when they saw how aggressive these birds were.

They had seen videos of the animals turning rabid but it was a different experience when you just lived through it personally.

Alex, on the other hand, noticed how his physique was much better than Brian’s and Terry’s.

He figured that having an SSS Level Ability had granted him that.

And for Brian and Terry, their physique must have been better than an average adult’s now.

....

Meanwhile, on the eighth floor of the Business Building, a student who was well dressed in a suit with a head of gelled up hair was looking down from the window.

"Jack, how should we deal with them?" Another student standing by the well-dressed student’s side asked.

"I’ll let my minions handle them... as for us...." Jack licked his lips and turned around at one of the meeting rooms that was closed.

Surrounding the meeting room were rats but they were calm, as if they were controlled by someone.
