Chapter 116: Getting the Inheritance

Lothe danced across the razor’s edge, parrying the two lethal cultivators while simultaneously deflecting the relentless assault of the armored Inheritance Guardian!

Three distinct spear styles. Hundreds of intersecting runic nodes.

Yet, amidst the storm of blades, Lothe’s expression remained as calm as a frozen lake.

He had noticed the fatal flaw in their assault:

Mie’r and Fan’er were competing.

Both wanted to land the killing blow to claim the inheritance’s primary imprint. Neither trusted the other to watch her back. Every time Fan’er forced an opening, Mie’r rushed to steal the momentum, muddying their formation synergy.

Their own greed was severing their coordination.

Lothe decided to give them the final nudge.

During an exchange with Fan’er, he intentionally loosened his wrist, allowing her spear beam to knock him backward.

He stumbled, coughing up a theatrical spatter of blood.

Mie’r’s eyes lit up with wild ecstasy. "He’s out of Qi! The legacy is mine!"

She completely abandoned her defensive posture, surging straight toward the hovering silver-black spear!

Fan’er’s face twisted in panic. "Mie’r, don’t you dare!"

She too kicked off the stone, accelerating to cut off her partner.

Lothe, kneeling in the dust behind them, raised his head. His eyes were devoid of any warmth.

Hooked.

He drove his spear into the floor.

DING!

A microscopic spatial rune flared beneath Mie’r’s boot.

Another flared beneath Fan’er’s.

He had planted them during their very first exchange.

Lothe murmured a single phrase:

"Spatial Collapse."

BOOOOOOM!!!

The spatial fabric beneath the two women violently inverted!

The massive volume of emerald Qi they were channeling toward the central inheritance was forcefully sucked backward through their own weapon-arrays!

Mie’r’s triumphant smile turned to absolute horror. "What is this?!"

Fan’er attempted to sever her Qi connection, but it was too late.

The ancient inheritance spear on the altar reacted violently to the foreign, unstable energy intrusion. Its defensive wards clamped shut like an iron maiden, locking both women in place as their own channeled energy began crushing their meridians!

Their greed had fed the array.

And now, the array was consuming them.

Mie’r shrieked in agony, desperately swinging her spear toward Lothe.

Lothe stepped forward.

Void Step.

He appeared at her flank like a wraith. His black spear thrust forward with clinical precision.

PUFF!

The blade pierced cleanly through her chest, erupting out her back.

Mie’r’s eyes bulged. She stared down at the spear embedded in her heart, then reached a trembling, blood-soaked hand toward the floating weapon on the altar.

"The... inheritance..." she choked out.

Lothe ripped his spear free.

Mie’r collapsed onto the cold flagstones, lifeless.

Fan’er saw her partner fall.

By all martial logic, she should have burned her life essence to retreat. But the maddening allure of the Supreme Armament had poisoned her mind beyond reason.

"Get out of my way!" Fan’er screamed, lunging for the altar with her remaining strength.

Lothe stepped directly into her path, his expression completely indifferent.

Their spears met.

CLANG!!!

Fan’er pushed forward with frantic, wild desperation.

Lothe smoothly twisted his shaft around hers, locking her weapon in place.

"Third Form: Spatial Collapse."

The space between their crossed weapons imploded!

CRACK-SHATTER!

Fan’er’s high-grade jade spear detonated into a cloud of pale-green fragments!

Before the shock could even register in her widened pupils—

PUFF!

Lothe’s spear drove through her sternum, piercing her heart and pinning her to the floor.

Fan’er’s body went completely rigid.

Silence descended upon the circular chamber once more.

Two elite Core Formation cultivators of the Emerald Venom Corps lay dead. They hadn’t fallen to an overwhelming difference in realm; they had been executed by their own unchecked avarice.

Lothe pulled his weapon back, shaking a single bead of blood from the tip.

He turned toward the center of the room.

The massive armored guardian lowered its spear.

For the first time since the trial began, the shadowy visor pulled back slightly, revealing a faint, approving smile on its spectral face.

BOOM!

The guardian’s physical form disintegrated into a brilliant sea of ancient, golden-silver calligraphy!

The river of light surged across the chamber, flooding directly into Lothe’s glabella!

Ping!

========================================

Lothe stood frozen as an ocean of ancient memories, forging diagrams, and martial principles flooded his consciousness.

He witnessed celestial forging furnaces fueled by dying stars.

He saw the tempering of divine ores, the birth of embryonic weapon souls, and the complex runic arrays required to bind a spirit to steel.

He watched ordinary iron evolve through every known grade:

Spirit Weapons. Earth Grade. Heaven Grade. Saint Grade

And ultimately, Supreme-Grade Armaments.

At the very end of the massive scripture, a single foundational law was etched into his soul:

"A true Supreme Armament is not forged once in a furnace.

It is forged across a lifetime, evolving alongside its master’s path."

Lothe slowly opened his eyes.

He looked down at the simple, battered Void Spear in his hands.

Before today, it was merely an external tool—a weapon forged to survive the harsh early days of the apocalypse.

Now, he understood.

One day, when his cultivation reached the apex, he would melt this spear down and reforge it from the ground up, infusing it with his own Void principles and awakening its true weapon soul.

A faint, cold smirk appeared on his face.

He turned his gaze toward the lifeless bodies of Mie’r and Fan’er.

Two major obstacles had been erased, and his combat foundation had undergone a qualitative leap.

RUMBLE...

Suddenly, the floor beneath his boots trembled violently.

Lothe’s smirk vanished.

The moment the inheritance merged with his soul, the Ancient Palace seemed to react to the shift in energy. Deep within the subterranean abyss beneath the chamber, something colossal, ancient, and deeply displeased began to stir.

A cold, suffocating chill crept up Lothe’s spine.

He slowly lowered his gaze to the cracks spreading across the flagstones, his fingers tightening around his spear.
