Apocalypse Online: Regression of SSS-Class Summoner

Chapter 161: Ambassador’s Responsibilities

  • Next Chapter

For the rest of the week, it was unsettling for Max not to play Apocalypse Online throughout, making his vacation with Enzo uncomfortable.

He even thought of sneaking outside in the evening to find internet cafes, but Auntie Sarah kept an eye on him, even as far as starkly reminding him to treat vacation as vacation.

Auntie Sarah already had enough for Max, who kept talking about Apocalypse Online to Enzo, giving him incessant advice.

She felt even hopeless because Enzo was intently listening, falling into deep contemplation every time his elder brother talked about Apocalypse Online.

Of course, they enjoyed their vacation, visiting tourist spots, not only in Toronto but including near countries.

Max only gave them a week of vacation—not because he was being frugal, but he could not waste more time not to play.

Once they returned to their villa, Kate appeared on their door just half an hour when they arrived, bringing two individuals who was responsible for upgrading Max’s hardware and delivering two gaming pods.

Auntie Sarah could only sigh helplessly, watching a gaming pod having been placed inside her room.

Max couldn’t help but chuckle at her reaction and said in a sincere tone, "I won’t be forcing you to play, Auntie Sarah.

But I hope that if playing ever comes into your mind, don’t hold back and try it."

Auntie Sarah rolled her eyes. "You say you’re not forcing but what is it doing in my room?"

"It’s just there, I guess. Just treat it as a display, something like that."

Auntie Sarah shrugged and turned around. "I will prepare for our lunch."

Max shook his head and watched her figure departed.

He turned towards the gaming pod and was determined to make her play at all costs.

No matter how many years it would take, as long as she could at least complete the second-class advancement, it was enough to defend herself from the upcoming apocalypse.

Just as he was pondering, Cassie’s voice echoed, "Master, your guest is looking for you."

Max nodded. They must have finished upgrading the hardware of my gaming pod. I hope there will be significant changes.

Max walked towards his primary bedroom.

Kate and the two technicians responsible for upgrading his gaming pod’s hardware were left alone earlier.

But he was not worried, with Cassie looking after them, he was not worried they acted beyond their work.

As soon as he arrived, Kate beamed a smile at him as the two technicians stood up and greeted him.

Kate was responsible for explaining the hardware upgrade package she had not explained earlier.

She said, "Your gaming pod has a total of 12 hardware upgrade.

First is the Neural Synchronization Module Upgrade. It has now higher synchronization accuracy, reduced signal interference, faster neural signal processing, and improved responsiveness during high-action gameplay.

Second is the Neural Feedback Balancer Upgrade..."

"Third is the Biometric Monitoring Suite Upgrade..."

"Fourth, Muscle Stimulation System Upgrade..."

Kate explained one by one each upgrade, satisfying Max.

After hearing every upgrade that has been installed in his gaming pod, Max was assured that he would face problem he had noticed from his gaming pod.

He simply ignored it.

After all, in his past life, he endured a single NovaLite Pod for five years straight, without hardware upgrade and maintenance.

But in his new life, now that he faced a lot of heavy responsibility and a possibility of clashing with demons in the future, the gaming pod would definitely hold him back.

As much as possible, he wanted to lessen it.

Now that his gaming pod had undergone an upgrade while he could possibly obtain the new edition of gaming pod in four months, he felt assured and could not focus on playing games.

Albeit, he had underestimated the responsibility of being an ambassador elite player to one of the biggest companies in esports industry.

Kate glanced at Max and said, "Max, next week, July 12, Wednesday, the company will ask for the hardware evaluation.

Five of these are new and you are the first one to use. They need your opinion.

At the same time, the company needs you to advertise this five hardware to be posted on our social media.

To save your time, we will still be negotiating the time and place.

After the promotion of the five hardware, there will be also a fan meet-and-greet session to be hosted in Aethernova building.

You are required to attend. You can set the time and date.

Also, the company are planning to own Apocalypse Online.

You should know that there is no proper owner. They are not revealing themselves.

In August 3, the company wants you to participate for various promotion for Apocalypse Online..."

As Kate laid out the company’s plan and Max’s responsibilities in the process, Max was speechless.

Only then he recalled that Aethernova had indeed indirectly owned Apocalypse Online, releasing trailers, anniversary campaigns established through their elite players involvements, eventually becoming the image of Apocalypse Online in the reality.

As Kate set the dates for works to be done, Max began to regret becoming their ambassador.

He discarded such thoughts at the back of his head and finally accepted their demands.

However, he would not simply allow himself to be so focused on Aethernova’s activities, despite possibly gaining fame and improve his reputation in the process.

He said to Kate, "It’s fine by me, but every day, I must play for 12 hours straight. Afterwards, I can be free."

Max thought of the Neuromuscular Combat System. After reaching the Coordination Level, he only needed 6 hours of sleep now.

However, it didn’t mean he would sacrifice his training with the Neuromuscular Combat System for Aethernova.

He must not neglect his body.

Max tried to negotiate with Kate and finally understood that he was only required to work once or twice a week.

Max would have no choice but to break his schedule to adjust for Aethernova.

He only had to endure for two years at most anyway.

Afterwards, once he attained a certain level of status not only inside the game but in reality, he could force Aethernova to stop bothering him while still paying him in the process...
