The first half of the third month was the first major success—the guild finally proved its value.

Instead of waiting for demons to attack settlements, Guild scouts identified several demon nests before they became major threats.

The Guild launched coordinated extermination operations.

This time, as demon hunters, they were fearless, unlike imperial soldiers.

Although the losses were insignificant, the gains encompassed them.

Three lesser Demons nests were discovered.

Two Lesser Nobles territories were identified.

One suspected demonic cult was uncovered.

The Guild eliminated them before they could develop into larger threats.

They became the Guild’s first measurable success.

Lancelot led the extermination of the Lesser Noble nest outside of the Empire.

They were fearless and terrifying, unlike the Imperial Soldiers who were ordered to be passive.

However, despite their success, most of the demon hunters failed to catch a glimpse of their Guild Leader.

If it were not because Danny constantly introduced himself as the Vice Guild Leader, they would have thought he was the Guild Leader due to his proactive management of the Guild.

They failed to catch a glimpse until the latter half of the third month since the establishment of the Guild.

At this point, it became an Imperial-sanctioned institution.

There were 2,000 to 3,000 Demon Hunters already.

With approximately 1,200 D-rank, 700 C-rank, 100 B-rank, and 5 A-rank.

It was indeed surprising that there were hundreds of B-rank and five A-rank who joined the Demon Hunters Guild, but they consisted of retired officials or had gone independent from their previous responsibility.

Furthermore, despite the A-rank mostly from the tactician class, they were humble enough to follow every one of Danny’s words.

At this point, Danny was already reaching the peak of the B-rank due to the pressure of managing the Guild alone, only having to consult the Guild Leader from time to time.

He never blamed the Guild Leader; the latter himself was cultivating to reach B-rank.

In addition, the more the demon hunters discovered the nests and learned pieces of information, the more he learned that the Kingdom of Endless War was preparing to invade the Empire full force.

Danny instantly connected the dots, and his admiration for Max soared after speculating that Max had long foreseen the invasion attempt of the Kingdom of Endless War.

Truly, a Demon Hunter!

As the latter half of the 3rd month approached, Max was also approaching the B-Rank.

...

August 26, 2028. Max was currently in the adaptive combat courtyard.

At this time, every one of his skills was at the Master level, including the Summon Radiant Knights, causing his Radiant Knights to be present.

Max was currently sitting, while his Radiant Knights were kneeling and bowing towards him.

Although he was facing them, he was not looking at them.

His eyes were sparkling as they reflected his status panel.

Max already needed more than 10 EXP to ascend to B-rank. Since he inherited a legacy class, he did not need to complete a class advancement from an NPC.

Given that he was also a player, he only needed to grind more EXP and rank up without having to complete quests.

He also did not neglect his skills.

Every single one of them already reached the Master Rank.

Max was delighted. Judging from Danny’s reports from the demon hunters’ exploration, there were only three days left before Malveris returned.

Max was about to fulfill his promise to reach B-rank before the first world event would occur.

Max also inspected his Radiant Knights’ status.

They didn’t want to be left behind. In fact, Lancelot occasionally joined their training.

As a result, most of them already reached the peak of their stats and skills’ proficiency.

They were more than ready to ascend with their Master.

Max turned around and proceeded to the consecrated chamber prayer.

The consecrated chamber prayer would help mask his Authority from spreading around the residence.

With the addition of the incense burner, he would also reach the B-rank during the meditation.

He arrived in the consecrated prayer chamber.

Afterwards, he summoned all his Radiant Knights to meditate with him.

His Radiant Knights meditated first before he followed suit.

In ten minutes, a satisfying notification echoed in his mind.

[You have reached B-Rank—Radiant Commander.]

For a moment, he did not move.

His breathing stopped.

The incense continued to burn silently within the consecrated chamber, its pale smoke curling toward the ceiling before disappearing into the concealment enchantment.

Suddenly, a tremendous surge of Authority erupted from within Max.

The entire chamber trembled.

The candles surrounding the prayer circle flickered violently, their flames stretching toward him as though bowing before an unseen sovereign.

Max’s eyes snapped open.

Golden light erupted from his body.

It did not explode outward.

Instead, it ascended, attempting to break the defensive enchantment of the ceiling, while it was also descending on his body.

His Authority surged through his body like an immense tide, flowing through every vein, every muscle, every strand of mana within his core.

His mana shook and expanded.

His consciousness trembled.

Even his very existence seemed to undergo a subtle transformation.

Max clenched his fists.

The sensation was completely different from merely gaining a level.

This was not strength.

This was authority.

The authority of a commander.

The authority to lead.

The authority to impose his will upon his Radiant Knights.

And for the first time since inheriting the legacy class, Max felt as though he had finally stepped into the realm his class had been preparing him for...
