Apocalypse Online: Regression of SSS-Class Summoner
Chapter 214: Specialized Executioner
Kragoth, the Burning Maw.
He was one of the largest members of the Emberbound Ten.
His body was covered in thick crimson-black muscle.
His chest contained a massive vertical opening resembling a furnace. Inside that opening burned an intense orange flame.
His lower jaw was unusually large and split slightly at the sides, giving him a monstrous appearance.
Two massive horns curved upward from his skull.
His arms were disproportionately large, with black claws capable of tearing through armor.
In fact, when he saw Hector incessantly defending the bearer of the Authority of Salvation, he was maddened.
He wanted to tear through the large tower shields.
However, the presence of the Holy Knight staring at him made him hesitate for a moment.
In the end, he decided to focus on Helena, who was charging toward Kaelgor without her greatsword.
Despite not carrying a shield, Helena wore armor, and the instinctive desire to tear through the durable metal with his black claws fueled him even more.
He dashed toward Helena, aiming to intercept her midway through her charge, when a beam of golden light resembling sunlight headed in his direction.
He did not try to evade, allowing the golden light to explode against his chest.
The golden light was made of radiant mana, which was naturally his nemesis, but instead of being corrupted by it, the divine mana was suddenly converted into accumulated demonic mana.
It was his signature ability—Hellfire Frenzy.
The more punishment he suffered, the stronger his body became.
It worked even more effectively against opponents who possessed divine-related mana.
Kragoth found himself growing stronger.
Just as the divine mana finished converting, another explosion struck his chest, compelling him to step backward.
But he felt no pain.
Only hysteria.
Just as he expected another Holy Flare to strike him, a magic circle suddenly materialized above him.
It showered him with golden light.
Kragoth felt weakened.
But his signature ability immediately took effect, quickly converting the divine mana into demonic mana and enhancing his physical abilities.
He felt a continuous surge of strength that slowly consumed his mind.
He roared at the top of his lungs and glanced at Solomon.
Solomon’s translucent body had become even more radiant compared to before.
His Light Catalyst had already developed a crystalline core.
Being gazed upon by the berserk demon, whose active skills had failed to weaken him, did not shake Solomon at all.
On the contrary, it only compelled him to utilize his new skill against him.
As the magic circle above Kragoth dissipated, Solomon waved his catalyst and began chanting.
During the first two seconds of the chant, Kragoth finished converting all the damage he had received from Solomon’s magic attacks and began his rampage across the main battlefield.
Magnus had to intervene to save the demon hunters with his barrier.
His barrier was actually as sturdy as Seraphina’s Sacred Aegis.
It was able to withstand Kragoth’s black claws for several seconds before shattering, allowing just enough time for the demon hunters to relocate.
On the third second of the chant, Kragoth suddenly paused and glanced at Solomon, as though he had briefly regained his sanity.
Kragoth suddenly sensed a threat emanating from Solomon’s chanting.
However, he was too late.
Solomon had already finished chanting.
A small magic circle appeared an inch above the skin of his forehead.
The small magic circle possessed a far more complex and intricate design, and the mana it contained was many times denser than that of dozens of ordinary spells combined.
Kragoth felt threatened, and his claws attempted to get rid of the small magic circle.
But they only ended up phasing through it, injuring his forehead in the process.
The small magic circle glowed with blinding light when the spell was completed and transformed into a mark that attached itself to Kragoth’s wounded forehead.
Radiant Judgement—the spell Solomon used against Kragoth.
It consumed more than a quarter of his mana, but it was already his signature spell.
It marked his enemy with radiant mana and worked exceptionally well against Kragoth and other demonic creatures.
The mark weakened the target’s resistance to Radiant attacks and continuously burned away corrupted or demonic energy.
Against demons, undead, and heavily corrupted creatures, the effect became considerably stronger.
This gave Solomon the role of a specialized executioner against darkness.
Radiant Judgement naturally negated the effect of Hellfire Frenzy.
Kragoth began to feel the surge of strength being sapped away, and his sanity slowly returned.
He panicked and hurriedly tried to get rid of the mark, but only ended up wounding his forehead further.
However, he didn’t care.
If tearing through his own flesh to remove Radiant Judgement proved effective, he did not mind exposing himself to self-inflicted torture.
Solomon watched as the mark of Radiant Judgement dissipated after the foundation that sustained it was torn apart.
He cast another spell—Purification Beam.
A magic circle appeared in front of his crystalline core, and once the spell was completed, a concentrated beam of golden light bolted toward the weakened Kragoth.
Kragoth, who perceived the appearance of the concentrated golden light, was startled.
The furnace inside his chest gathered every trace of demonic energy from his body and released a concentrated blast of hellfire toward the Purification Beam.
It was his secondary ability—Burning Maw.
It was originally meant to destroy defensive walls, shield formations, armored opponents, and enemy barricades.
He never expected to use it as a form of defense against a terrifying magic spell.
The Burning Maw successfully blocked the Purification Beam, but he was already out of demonic mana.
Kragoth, who had been mighty during his berserk state, now appeared soulless and almost frozen.
Solomon cast another spell, but to his surprise, Drazhul, the Bone Reaper, appeared beside Kragoth and attacked him with his massive two-handed executioner’s weapon.
Hellfire Frenzy immediately took effect, converting the damage Kragoth received into demonic mana and strengthening him once again.
When the Purification Beam bolted toward him again, he did not block it. Instead, he allowed it to be converted into usable demonic mana.
Kragoth was back.
And this time, Drazhul finally decided to join the main battle...
