Ivy smiled warmly at her aunt.

With that, Aunt Clara turned around and began making her way toward her room

Ivy, who had just lifted her glass of water to her lips, nearly choked at the unexpected question. She coughed several times, quickly placing the glass back on the table as she turned toward her aunt with a shocked expression.

“Aunty!” she exclaimed, staring at her in disbelief. “Have you forgotten that we’re in the apocalypse? Who has time for all that?”

Aunt Clara immediately scoffed, looking completely unimpressed by her niece’s response.

“And so what?” she retorted without hesitation.

Before Ivy could come up with another excuse, Aunt Clara grabbed her hand and pulled her a little closer, lowering her voice even further.

“Now, tell me the truth. Do you like Darren more?” she whispered conspiratorially.

Ivy’s eyes widened.

“What?”

“Don’t pretend you didn’t hear me!” Aunt Clara continued, giving her a knowing look. “I noticed that you seemed to blush a little more when you were introducing him. Your expression was different, and I was watching you very carefully.”

She paused to glance at Darren, who was still eating, apparently unaware that he had become the subject of a private conversation.

“If he’s the one you like, then you certainly have good taste, my dear. He’s handsome, and he seems like a dependable man, too.”

Ivy stared at her aunt for a moment, completely at a loss for words. Isn’t it the same aunt that was just rescued from Kforce organization and now she’s already playing the matchmaking.

She couldn’t help but to burst into laughter just by thinking about it.

Aunt Clara, however, seemed to have no intention of letting the matter go.

“I’m just saying!” she insisted, raising her hands innocently. “Whatever decision you make, I’ll support you. I’m open-minded, you know. You can tell me anything, and I won’t judge you.”

She leaned back in her seat, wearing an expression of exaggerated innocence.

Meanwhile, Erick, Darren, and Elliot exchanged confused glances, their expressions revealing that they had absolutely no idea what Ivy and Aunt Clara had been discussing.

Rather than ask questions and risk getting dragged into whatever private discussion was going on between the aunt and niece, the three men decided to keep their mouths shut and continue eating. After all, Ivy and Aunt Clara were family, so it wasn’t surprising that they had a lot to talk about. Whatever it was, it was probably something personal, and none of them wanted to intrude on their conversation unnecessarily.

After what seemed like forever, everyone finally finished eating. The survivors responsible for clearing the table soon approached, carrying away the empty plates, bowls, and trays. They cleared away the leftover food and tidied up the table, leaving only the bottles of water and a few other drinks behind for the group.

Once the survivors had finished cleaning up, Ivy leaned back in her seat and let out a heavy sigh.

“You should get some more rest now that you’ve eaten, Aunt. Ivy voiced out, turning towards her aunt with a concerned expression. “That’s what you need most at the moment. The other survivors who arrived here last night should rest as well. They’ve been through a lot, and I don’t want anyone pushing themselves too hard before they’ve had enough time to recover.

Although Aunt Clara appeared to be in better spirits than she had been the previous night, Ivy wasn’t about to overlook the fact that she had only recently escaped a terrible situation.

After giving Aunt Clara her advice, Ivy shifted her attention toward Darren, who was sitting beside her.

“And we have a task to accomplish today,” she continued, her expression becoming more serious. “We need to get a few things that will help my aunt formulate the monster spray once she’s feeling better.”

“Monster spray?” Darren, Erick, and Elliot echoed almost simultaneously.

“I’ll explain everything to you guys on our way there,” Ivy promised.

“Oh, yes! You’ll find everything you need at the Central Park Pharmacy,” Aunt Clara suddenly chimed in, drawing everyone’s attention toward her. “That’s the exact location you should visit. There’s no need to waste time going from one place to another in search of the ingredients I wrote down for you this morning.”

Ivy turned toward her aunt, her eyes lighting up with interest.

“Really? That’s wonderful!” she exclaimed, a satisfied smile spreading across her face. “I know that pharmacy. Although it’s quite far from here and undoubtedly crawling with monsters, that won’t be a problem for me.”

She paused briefly, mentally reconsidering the plans she had made for the day.

“I was already thinking that today was going to be a long one. I thought we’d have to visit several places before finding everything we needed, but now that you’ve told me where to go, things should be much easier. We just need to head straight to the pharmacy, collect the ingredients, and return to the base.”

Aunt Clara nodded in agreement.

“But you have to be careful Ivy.”

“Don’t worry, Aunt. I’ll be fine,” Ivy assured her with a confident smile.

“Alright, then. I’m going back to my room to rest. Since I’ve already eaten, I might as well take your advice and get some sleep.”
