Apocalypse Supermarket: My Four Overpowered Husbands Wontstop Hoarding
Chapter 188 Davis comeback
Chapter 188: Chapter 188 Davis comeback
As Luna watched her men, she decided that getting the aircraft started was their best chance of escaping.
She wanted them out of there as quickly as possible. More importantly, she didn’t want any of them to exhaust themselves using their abilities to help everyone escape, especially Ethan.
Adrian’s portals could make their escape easier, but she knew how much energy he would have to expend to transport all of them. The last thing she wanted was for him to collapse because he had pushed himself too hard.
There was a time when she wouldn’t have cared about the consequences. As long as their powers benefited her and helped them survive, she would have demanded that they use them without a second thought.
But things had changed.
Somewhere along the way, she had grown attached to these men. Their safety had become just as important to her as her own, and the thought of watching any of them suffer because she had demanded too much made her uncomfortable.
She didn’t want to keep treating them as tools for her survival.
"Luna, what about your supermarket space?" Ethan asked, drawing her attention back to the present. "The things you summoned during our escape. Have you put them back?"
Luna paused and stopped walking.
For a moment, she stared at him before realizing what he was asking.
"Oh, don’t worry about that. As soon as I finished using everything and left the place with you guys, all the cabinets and goods disappeared back into my space."
She gave the side of the aircraft a reassuring pat, as though the matter were nothing worth worrying about.
However, Rowan didn’t look convinced.
"That was risky, Luna."
His expression was serious as he looked at her.
"You shouldn’t have used your space in front of that psychopath. Now he knows what you’re capable of summoning, and I have a feeling that’s exactly what he wanted to see. You practically handed him the information he needed."
Luna had been about to climb into the aircraft when she stopped and turned to face him.
"What would you have done if you were in my position?"
Rowan’s expression remained unchanged, but Luna continued before he could answer.
"You guys were in critical condition. That beam was going to kill you, and I had to do something to get you out of it. My space was the only thing I could use at that moment."
She folded her arms, her frustration becoming increasingly apparent.
"If using what I have is the only way to keep my companions alive, why shouldn’t I do it? Was I supposed to stand there and watch you die just because I didn’t want that man to discover my abilities?"
Rowan didn’t immediately respond.
Luna let out an impatient breath.
"Enough with these questions. Get into the damn plane. We need to leave before that lunatic decides to come after us again."
She turned toward Kai and Adrian, who were still standing together a short distance away.
Adrian had done his best to treat Kai’s injured shoulder, but the injury had clearly taken a toll on him. He was supporting Kai, helping him remain steady as they prepared to board the aircraft.
Neither of them looked particularly pleased with their condition, but they were determined to keep moving.
Luna was just about to approach them when the ground beneath their feet suddenly shook.
BOOM!
The explosion came without warning.
The entire structure trembled violently, sending dust and fragments of debris raining down from above. Kai and Adrian were thrown off their feet, their bodies crashing against the pillars surrounding the open hall.
"Ah!"
Luna’s eyes widened.
The place resembled an enormous veranda, except that it was enclosed by towering pillars and had enough space to accommodate their aircraft. They had thought they were close to escaping, but now the violent impact had thrown everything into chaos.
"Kai! Adrian!"
Luna rushed forward, her heart pounding as she watched them struggle to recover.
Her gaze darted between the two men, trying to determine whether either had sustained another injury. Adrian was already attempting to push himself upright, while Kai appeared momentarily disoriented from the impact.
Then Luna remembered Ethan.
Her attention immediately shifted toward him.
Of all her men, Ethan was the one she was most worried about losing. His abilities made him valuable, and she had a terrible feeling that their enemy understood exactly how valuable he was.
She couldn’t allow that man to take him.
"Rowan!" she called sharply. "Make sure Ethan doesn’t get taken. I’ll go help those two!"
Ethan shook his head as he heard her.
"Luna, I can protect myself. I have weapons."
Before she could respond, he produced two guns.
Luna stared at them.
For a brief moment, she wondered where on earth he had been hiding them. She had no idea when he had acquired those weapons, but considering everything they had experienced, she supposed she shouldn’t be surprised anymore.
She shrugged.
"Better, then. Just make sure nobody takes you."
She turned toward Rowan, her expression becoming deadly serious.
"And if things get critical, kill them. I don’t care what you have to do. Just make sure none of you falls into their hands."
The moment those words left her mouth, something changed in Rowan’s expression.
His eyes darkened, and his pupils began to shift, taking on an eerie purple hue.
Luna noticed immediately.
Her own eyes narrowed as she studied him. She had seen glimpses of the strange changes in Rowan before, but the sight still made her wonder how much of his true strength he had been keeping hidden.
However, she had no time to question him.
Something suddenly clawed toward her chest.
Luna reacted on instinct.
She twisted her body to the side, narrowly avoiding the attack, then caught the creature’s arm before it could retreat. With a sharp movement, she twisted its limb around her elbow.
CRACK!
A deafening snap rang through the hall.
The creature released a piercing screech as Luna wrenched its arm backward. She didn’t let go until she had forced it into an awkward position, then shoved it away from her.
She turned to face her attacker.
It was one of the same scaly creatures Mr. Davis had used against them before.
But something was different this time.
They weren’t relying on brute strength alone. Their movements were faster, almost impossible to follow, and they seemed capable of disappearing and reappearing before their opponents could react.
Luna watched as two more creatures rushed toward her, their bodies blurring as they moved.
She tried to anticipate their attacks, but they vanished before she could get a proper grip on either of them.
"Tch!"
Luna clicked her tongue in irritation.
Trying to catch them with her bare hands was becoming a waste of time. They were moving too quickly, and every second she spent dealing with them was another second her men remained in danger.
She had to change her approach.
However, before she could do anything else, she heard movement behind her.
A figure materialized a short distance away.
Luna turned.
Mr. Davis stood there, wearing a maddening grin.
"Oh, dear," he said mockingly. "Did you really think you had a chance against me?"
His eyes travelled over her as though he were examining an interesting specimen.
"I gave you time to show me what you could do, and now I’ve seen enough. I know exactly what I’m dealing with."
He took a step forward.
"And I’ve changed my mind. I don’t want just one of your men anymore. I want all of them."
His smile widened as he studied her reaction.
"They have an incredible amount of energy inside them. It’s almost unbelievable. Power like that shouldn’t be wasted on someone as greedy as you."
Luna’s expression turned cold.
"You’re the one who keeps attacking us, and somehow you think we’re the greedy ones?"
Mr. Davis laughed.
"Oh, don’t make me laugh. You have all that power at your disposal, and you still want to keep everything for yourself. Tell me, what makes you so special?"
Before Luna could answer, two creatures appeared behind her.
She immediately reached into her space and summoned a weapon.
But the moment it appeared in her hand, it froze.
Luna’s eyes widened.
"What the—?"
She tried to move it, but the weapon refused to respond. It was as though an invisible force had locked it in place.
Before she could figure out what was happening, one of the creatures lunged.
Its claws sliced across her arm, digging deep into her flesh.
"AHHH!"
A cry of anguish tore from Luna’s throat.
Pain shot through her arm, forcing her to stagger backward. Blood began to run down her skin, staining her sleeve as she struggled to regain her balance.
The attack had caught her off guard, but what frightened her more was how easily Mr. Davis had neutralized her weapon.
He had done it without even touching her.
What kind of ability was that?
And how was she supposed to fight someone who could interfere with her attacks before they even reached him?
Her scream echoed through the hall.
Kai’s eyes snapped open.
For a moment, he struggled to understand what was happening around him. His body ached from the impact, and his injured shoulder throbbed painfully, but the sound of Luna’s cry immediately brought him back to his senses.
He turned his head.
A dozen creatures were moving toward him and Adrian, their claws scraping against the ground as they advanced.
But Kai barely spared them a glance.
His attention was fixed on Luna.
She was bleeding.
And that bastard was standing right in front of her.
Something inside Kai snapped.
He drew a deep breath, and the atmosphere around him began to change.
The air grew colder.
Frost spread across the floor, creeping outward from beneath his feet. The temperature dropped so rapidly that the creatures approaching him slowed, their movements becoming less fluid as ice formed along the ground.
Kai raised his hand.
The floor beneath the creatures twisted.
A thick layer of ice spread beneath their feet, and before they could regain their balance, the frozen surface cracked open. Several creatures lost their footing and plunged into the opening, their shrieks filling the hall.
Kai didn’t stop there.
He extended his other hand, and sharp shards of ice formed around his fingers.
With a flick of his wrist, they shot toward the creatures attacking Luna.
The projectiles tore through the air with terrifying speed.
But before they could reach their targets, Mr. Davis casually tapped his mysterious panel.
A flash of light appeared.
The ice shards disintegrated.
They didn’t shatter against an invisible barrier or fall harmlessly to the ground. They simply ceased to exist, as though the attack had never happened.
Kai stared in disbelief.
"What the hell?"
Even Adrian looked stunned.
He had been preparing his own attack, but watching Kai’s powerful ice shards disappear so effortlessly made him realize that ordinary attacks might not be enough.
Still, he wasn’t going to stand there and do nothing while Luna was being attacked.
Adrian raised both hands.
The clouds above the hall gathered rapidly, darkening the sky. A low rumble of thunder rolled overhead, followed by a brilliant flash of lightning.
The sound shook the entire structure.
Then the lightning struck.
It slammed into the creatures rushing toward Luna, tearing through their ranks with a deafening crash. Several creatures were thrown backward, their bodies breaking apart as they released piercing screeches.
For a moment, the attack seemed to work.
But when the lightning faded, Mr. Davis remained completely untouched.
He hadn’t even moved.
He looked at Luna with an expression of exaggerated pity.
"See what I’m talking about, dear? You can’t harm me."
He tilted his head, pretending to study her wounded arm.
"I gave you the chance to show me what you could do, and you actually thought you had won. Honestly, I almost feel sorry for you."
He chuckled.
"Oh, don’t make that face. It doesn’t suit you."
Mr. Davis took another step toward her.
But before he could get any closer, a deep, animalistic growl thundered through the hall.
Rowan.
His eyes glowed with an eerie purple light, and the expression on his face was no longer calm or restrained.
He looked ready to tear the man apart with his bare hands.
"Don’t you dare come any closer to her," Rowan growled.
His voice was low, dangerous, and filled with barely restrained fury.
"Or I will tear you apart."
