Apocalypse: the Most Ruthless Person
Chapter 609 - 518: Is There Really Such a Good Deal?
This is closely related to Ding Wei’s methods of dealing with zombies. As Little Duck, who was interrogated, said, Ding Wei likes to leave behind a hundred zombies in places that have been searched to showcase ’glory,’ telling others that this place has been swept by Absolute Justice.
Not all places are worth leaving marks on; only relatively large factory areas, industrial parks, or logistics stations would have such ’glorious marks’ left behind.
For this purpose, Ding Wei specially reserved some zombies to mark locations. Now, these zombies have become the culprits in the destruction of Absolute Justice!
A hundred zombies aren’t too many. Even if Absolute Justice sent out thirty fighters, those staying behind with fortifications could deal with them. But they couldn’t withstand wave after wave of zombie attacks, with even more zombies joining together!
The size of the zombie horde facing Absolute Justice was no less than the one at Lego Mall!
Over a thousand ferocious zombies stormed the camp, some of which were hulking beasts. Seeing the situation from a high point, Ding Wei felt numb. He knew in his gut that the camp couldn’t hold.
Making a snap decision, Ding Wei initiated the last resort for defending the camp. Amid explosions, more than eighty survivors from Absolute Justice in over thirty vehicles charged their way out. Driving a trailer full of supplies in the middle of the convoy, Ding Wei managed to tear a path through the horde and escape encirclement.
Unfortunately, the cost was enormous. The well-established camp was lost in an instant, and during the escape, for various reasons, more than fifty of the eighty-plus people died. In the end, only ten vehicles and over twenty people escaped the hordes. It was a disaster!
Thinking of the comfortable environment at Lego Mall, a flame of desire ignited in Ding Wei’s heart. He looked towards the city, took a deep breath, and spoke into the walkie-talkie in an even tone.
"Alright, I’ll trust you this once. We’ll discuss past matters later. You say you’re the acting head of the Survivor Alliance. Our Absolute Justice and the Survivor Alliance have always had a good relationship. Now that we have a problem, shouldn’t you send someone to help us?"
The reply came quickly.
"Sorry, Leader Ding, we’re barely holding Lego Mall ourselves. Just before your message, a brother reported that another hundred or so zombies are coming from the south. We simply can’t spare any forces to help you!
I believe this is a time when we humans need to stick together for any chance of survival. Why don’t you find a way to come to Lego Mall? Then we can resist the zombies together. Once Leader Liao and the others come back from the north, we’ll be safe!"
???
In the darkness, a strange smile appeared on Ding Wei’s face, and his associates beside him had sinister grins as well.
His first goal was to get into Lego Mall. He was struggling to find an entry point, and now the other party invited him. What a stroke of luck?
"This idiot, hahaha, he definitely doesn’t understand what it means to invite trouble. I’m like Dong Zhuo of Xiliang. I hereby declare that soon Lego Mall will be our new territory!"
Ding Wei pounded his chest with unmatched bravado.
Before he could reply, another message came from the other side.
"Don’t worry about supplies. We have everything in abundance here. As long as you can safely reach Lego Mall, you’ll have food and shelter without issue."
Food and shelter, such enticing words, and all it takes is to safely arrive. How hard could that be!
Even Ding Wei and the other combatants had a predatory gleam in their eyes.
"This idiot is quite likable, hahaha, I almost love him."
Ding Wei licked his lips. In the pitch-black night, under the glare of a green emergency light like a horror movie, he pressed the talk button with sincerity.
"Brother, I have to say, I think you’re better suited than Liao Youzhi to be the leader of the Survivor Alliance. May I ask for your honorable name? Maybe we’ve met before. I’d like to know you better."
"Ah, no, not at all. I’m, uh, an armed personnel, formerly the captain of the third company of the Vanguard Corps, Zhang Xin."
Zhang Su almost blurted out that he was Wu Baokang, but realized that in the Survivor Alliance, Wu Baokang had some status, and the other party might have actually encountered him.
"So, you’re Captain of the Third Company of the Vanguard? Alright, you’re a real brother, loyal. Wait for us; when we get to the Lego Shopping Mall, let’s have a proper chat. I even brought some good wine. Let’s drink to our heart’s content. We’re on our way now!"
"Wait a bit!"
Ding Wei put down the walkie-talkie, and the voice came again: "Here’s the thing, you can come over, but don’t bring any tails. If you drag a huge zombie horde with you, we won’t let you in!"
"Don’t worry, Younger Brother Zhang. We’re all reasonable people in Absolute Justice. I, Ding Wei, never do foolish things. That’s it, we’ll talk when we meet!"
After finishing, Ding Wei’s eyes rolled, and he chuckled.
"Boss, why are you laughing?"
A nearby associate asked curiously.
"I laugh because I’ve met a benefactor in my life. This fellow not only suits my plans but also gave me an idea. It’s simply great; I was just wondering how to make it foolproof, and he told me we could lure zombies. Don’t you think this person is like Wolong or Fengchu, hahaha."
"Hahaha..."
Several subordinates quickly caught onto Ding Wei’s train of thought and laughed just as unrestrainedly.
Ding Wei raised his hand, signaling for silence. His green gaze turned to the eight remaining combat members.
"Brothers, do you have the confidence to take over the Survivor Alliance’s fat, juicy territory?"
