Apocalypse: the Most Ruthless Person
Chapter 632 - 531: Tightening Further
"Boss Zhang, what’s going on with you guys..."
Ding Yongguo and Zheng Ziwen packed up their things and came to the first floor to wait. Seeing a large group of people rushing out, each with a serious expression, they had a bad feeling.
Wanting to get closer to ask, but seeing everyone’s tense face and not being familiar, they just squatted in the corner awkwardly waiting.
Finally, Zhang Su appeared, and they quickly went forward to inquire.
"Wait a minute!"
Zhang Su raised his hand to signal Ding Yongguo to hold on, turned his head to look around, and soon saw Liu Yao. He then waved, "Old Liu, come over!"
"What’s up, Brother Su?"
Liu Yao, who was arranging combat personnel at the kindergarten division, hurried over upon hearing Zhang Su’s call.
"Immediately notify the kindergarten side to relocate, everyone must come to Lego Mall, and also arrange a few brothers to help transport supplies!"
"Ah, this... Okay, okay!"
Liu Yao was initially stunned but quickly understood Zhang Su’s intention. There’s nothing else to do; under such dire circumstances, they must tighten the defense line. Gathering everyone together makes action more effective!
If they get through this period smoothly, expanding outward later isn’t too late.
"Make sure there’s enough time, don’t miss anything, transfer all supplies over, understand?"
"Got it, got it!"
Liu Yao nodded vigorously.
Yang Xinqi heard Zhang Su calling Liu Yao and subconsciously moved closer a few steps. After hearing the arrangements, he said hastily, "Brother Su, there are quite a lot of people in the kindergarten, how about I also send a few brothers to help?"
"Alright, you arrange five people to go over as well. That’s it! Let’s go, Old Ding, get in the car! Hey you, go with him!"
After arranging the tasks, Zhang Su called to Ding Yongguo, who was full of doubt, to get in the car while also tossing his annoying nephew into Zhao Dezhu’s car, letting him feel the care of the Fish Slaughterer well.
However, it wasn’t Zhao Dezhu driving, but Lu Yubo. Zhao Dezhu knew his limits well and never sat in the driver’s seat during missions outside.
"Uncle, I don’t want to..."
"Just go when I tell you, stop dawdling! Remember to behave!"
Ding Yongguo waved his hand at the displeased Zheng Ziwen, gave a few reminders, and quickly caught up with Zhang Su, curiously eyeing the van parked on the mall’s first floor...
"Boss Zhang, the place you parked your ride is quite peculiar."
He had long noticed this strange vehicle, steaming hot air out, warned not to get close, yet he didn’t expect it to be Zhang Su’s ride.
"Haha! Don’t you feel warm? There’s a big treasure in there, hey, and with your arrival, this treasure has even more use!"
Zhang Su opened the car door and stepped onto the vehicle, suddenly realizing that with the old blacksmith, coupled with fire-breathing zombies to smelt metal, as long as they got a punch press, even if not, cold weapons will no longer be a worry, and they can unlock more uses!
Ding Yongguo, utterly confused, didn’t ask much in the urgent atmosphere, greeted the co-pilot Zheng Xinyu, and sat properly by the door.
Whoosh... whoosh... whoosh...
Vehicles drove out from the back of the mall, the pedestrian street, underground parking, and other places, forming a massive convoy on the city’s devastated roads, with damaged buildings on both sides, feeling like a true post-apocalyptic wasteland.
"Old Tan, Xiaoqi, speed up and scout ahead, report at any time!"
"Old Liu, Master Jia, you two scout north at the front intersection..."
"Bozai, Old Yang, you two scout south at the front intersection..."
"Everyone, immediately report if you find more than seven or eight zombies! Old Li, any new updates?"
Zhang Su drove the beat-up van in the middle of the convoy, not going fast, issuing command after command, sending cars speeding ahead.
Li Zongkai replied a few seconds later, that there was no news for the time being.
"Boss Zhang, I always thought you were very capable, and indeed, capable people thrive no matter where they go. I admire, admire!"
Ding Yongguo listened to Zhang Su’s orderly command and saw his subordinates responding timely, the level of command and action making him sincerely admire.
"What is this, have you learned to flatter by hardening your mouth with iron-smithing skills?"
Zhang Su teased, sighing. The old Ding he knew would speak humanly only when negotiating business; otherwise, he was very sharp-tongued. These few months of apocalypse, what a change.
"It’s the truth, sigh, the scene from our last meeting is still vivid in my mind, and upon meeting again, it’s this sight; times have changed, and I’ve survived near-death eight or nine times at the Ghost Gate!"
Perhaps in rare relief, Ding Yongguo’s eyes reddened as he recalled past experiences.
"Hey, mister is going to cry, here, wipe it..."
Zheng Xinyu, seeing Ding Yongguo wipe his eyes, made a funny face, handing him a pack of tissues.
"This young lady looks unfamiliar, not one of the ten-plus beauties I’ve seen before. Boss Zhang is impressive!"
Ding Yongguo expressed his emotions, quickly starting to joke.
"You can say that. Brother Su now has three thousand concubines, all residing on a mountain; I’m just one minor amongst them..."
"Shut up already! Old Ding, want a smoke..."
Zhang Su, speechless, interrupted Zheng Xinyu’s nonsense, took out some cigarettes and tossed them on the dashboard, saying, "Old Ding, why did you end up in Qin City? Don’t tell me you came after the apocalypse broke out, that’d be bold!"
Ding Yongguo didn’t live in the Qin City District; his home was between Qin City and Funing, a decent town. His blacksmith workshop was in the village, officially making farm tools, unofficially forging swords for enthusiasts.
"It’s not like that..." Ding Yongguo lit a cigarette and took a deep drag.
"My sister, who’s also Zheng Ziwen’s mom, bought him a house in the city. Damn bad luck; they chose a day to move, and of all days, it was the day before the disaster broke out. Originally, I was supposed to return to the village at night, but they insisted I stay the night in the new house.
I thought, well, might as well, the alcohol hasn’t worn off, rather than get fined for getting caught on the road drunk. Next day morning, damn, a houseful of relatives and friends... You can’t imagine the situation then, sigh."
"Being alive is already lucky."
Zhang Su didn’t bother asking about the others. It was obvious; as he said, everyone still alive is a chosen one.
"I heard your team previously had five members, why didn’t you think about joining a survivor camp? With your skills, you’d definitely do well, at least you wouldn’t have to worry about food and clothes!"
This puzzled Zhang Su. Not only on Celestial Horse Island but any survivor camp striving for good development would value talents with special skills. Even a mad group like Absolute Justice developed experimental pills!
Ding Yongguo, a seasoned blacksmith, whose forged blades were recognized in a small circle, definitely had skills. A well-made sharp blade, or even special treated steel rods, was ideal for dealing with zombies!
Hot weapons are indeed strong, mainly for mutual deterrence among humans; they are not often used against zombies.
As long as Old Ding got the tools of a blacksmith shop, the camp would never lack weapons, and a blacksmith’s scope went beyond that, covering many life-dependent items, even building defense structures!
"I wasn’t the team leader with Zheng Ziwen. We followed a gym coach named Ah Guang. Although we were few, none relied on others for food, so we lived pretty well with abundant supplies. Ah Guang said joining a survivor camp would lead to exploitation, better to seize land and recruit survivors when the chance arises...
And you see how it turned out, let alone recruiting survivors. Now some fled, some died, how tragic! These zombies grow stronger day by day, soon enough, humans will be wiped out!"
While discussing past events, Ding Yongguo shook his head incessantly.
