Apocalypse: the Most Ruthless Person

Chapter 772: Did You Get Her Pregnant?

  • Next Chapter

“Yes… There’s also another matter, um… It also involves violence, but it’s domestic violence.”

Yuwen hesitated for a moment before bringing up another issue.

“Domestic violence? Forget about domestic violence, it’s an internal issue to be handled internally, we don’t need to interfere in everything.”

Zhang Su didn’t intend to intervene forcefully in such internal conflicts within small groups.

Although Zhang Su didn’t want to listen, Yuwen pressed his lips together and spoke. Ideally, given the increasing matters, reports should prioritize urgency.

But this time, he still said, “This domestic violence is a bit different, it isn’t a conflict between a couple, but… Do you remember the night of the hot pot feast, the little girl who gave you White Rabbit candy?”

“Yes, I remember that. Seems like… shares your surname, right? Yu something.”

Zhang Su had too many matters to consider, completely forgetting the name of a little girl.

“Yes, Yu Ziyan. Today, I saw her foster mother disciplining her harshly because of food issues. I stopped Peng Xiuping at that time.”

Yuwen slightly tightened his grip on his chopsticks, evidently angry. Although only described in five words, it had caused significant harm to Yu Ziyan.

“Old Yu, are you entertaining thoughts of being a grandfather?”

Zhang Su saw the affection for the little girl in Yuwen’s eyes. Such emotions were unlike those towards strangers or even other people in the camp; only a younger relative could evoke that kind of fondness.

“Perhaps a little.”

Yuwen didn’t deny it. As Zhang Su mentioned, he had kept an eye on Yu Ziyan since the night of the hot pot feast, mainly because they shared a surname. Then, Yu Ziyan being a little girl naturally reminded him of when Yu Qing was small.

Considering his age, Yuwen was indeed old enough to be a grandfather. Yu Qing, in her early thirties, had not married or had children due to having a narrow social circle from work.

“If Qingqing were to have children at the same age as her mother, the child would be around Yu Ziyan’s age.”

Speaking this, Yuwen’s face displayed a rarely seen compassionate smile.

Zhang Su’s expression was slightly odd as he waved his chopsticks in front of Yuwen’s face, saying, “Hey, Old Yu, since Peng Xiuping isn’t treating Yu Ziyan well, why not take the girl in and raise her? A little girl doesn’t eat much; you could teach her to write and have her as a little assistant for you?”

“No, no, no, that’s really not necessary.”

Yuwen waved his hand a bit awkwardly. He rather wanted Yu Ziyan to be his granddaughter, but she might not want that.

“Alright, consider this yourself. As long as you’re willing, I don’t think there would be any issues with Yu Ziyan and Peng Xiuping. On another note, I believe that personnel appointments need to be on the agenda. With our camp’s population growth, our management style needs further optimization!”

“It must be on the agenda!” Yuwen’s eyes brightened: “I’ve been observing since those people arrived at the camp, already have some directions, why not study thoroughly tonight?”

Yuwen was very interested in personnel appointments, successfully distracting himself from yearning for family joy.

“It needs thorough study, picking a batch who can command respect and manage things. Of course, these people ultimately must be directly under Celestial Horse Island.”

Celestial Horse Island referred to the mountain lodging area, further reduced to those originally ventured from Qin City together.

“Alright, sooner rather than later, otherwise those down there will always act like headless chickens. Determining the leadership lineup early is more beneficial for future development!”

Zhang Su sped up his eating, his mind already spinning with thoughts on personnel appointments.

“Brother Zhang, Brother Zhang, hey, can you hear me?”

After eating, Zhang Su went out to the yard, lit a cigarette, still thinking about where best to place people for the greatest effect. Duan Wuhu’s voice sounded from the walkie-talkie used for communicating while heading to Mountain and Sea.

Throughout the day, they contacted each other every three to four hours. Road conditions truly weren’t good. Some shortcuts in the villages were impossible to take, even the provincial and county roads were bad, slowing progress greatly.

Occasionally, they’d encounter zombie disturbances. Although not numerous, it demanded their full effort to handle seriously. Once, they even faced a large one, requiring considerable effort to eliminate it. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

“I can hear you. Old Duan, where are you now?”

Zhang Su responded.

In an isolated countryside, all around was darkness. Duan Wuhu shone a flashlight towards an already faded tourist sign above, saying: “Three kilometers ahead is a site called Cloud Dragon Valley. There are villages around here, I’ve never been to this area, do you know it?”

“I know Cloud Dragon Valley.”

Wang Xin, who was smoking along, chimed in: “Brother Su, my former company used to conduct team building at Cloud Dragon Valley. I don’t know the exact administrative region, roughly more than thirty kilometers from Qin City, about twenty kilometers or so from Mountain and Sea District.

There’s a river coming down from the mountain, allowing for rafting in summer, very lively during tourist peak season. There are many attractions in the valley, exploiting not only out-of-town tourists but not sparing local people either!”

After hearing Wang Xin’s words, Zhang Su smiled and shook his head, then pressed the talk button: “Zhuzi, Wang Xin says you’re still about twenty kilometers from the Mountain and Sea area. It’s pitch black, hurry and find a place to camp overnight, make sure to do protection work, don’t let all four fall asleep, have Old Shen stay alert, and send someone to keep watch.”

The Dragon Head Camp members must exert effort, but he trusted his own people more.

“Alright, we’ve already chosen a place. Everyone’s clearing the road, preparing to drive into the village! Don’t worry about keeping watch, we’ve arranged shifts. Catch you later, I’m going to help!”

Ending the call, Zhang Su heard the restaurant door behind him open as Yuwen walked out.

The two went upstairs together, prepared to study personnel appointments thoroughly.

Upon entering the room, Yuwen looked at the zombie sitting quietly in the chair, forcing oneself to smile: “Good evening, Ms. Program One.”

When clearing the high-speed railway, Yuwen hadn’t participated but had long known about Program One and met her, reacting much less than Duan Wuhu, soon accepting such a unique presence as a neighbor.

Program One mechanically stood up and waved her hand towards Zhang Su and Yuwen, greeting them.

“Program, go to the inner room. Old Yu and I need the table.”

Zhang Su pointed towards the bedroom door.

Program hesitated, didn’t move, and touched her stomach facing Zhang Su.

Yuwen stepped back in fright, staring at Zhang Su in astonishment, face expressing unspeakable wonder, almost blurting out, did you get her pregnant?

“Ahem…”

Zhang Su sensed Yuwen’s actions, awkwardly coughed, saying, “Are you hungry?”

“Ow!”

Program nodded slightly, made an eating gesture, then touched her stomach again.

“Whew… Haha.” Yuwen laughed awkwardly.

Zhang Su gave Yuwen a strange look, saying, “Old Yu, your thoughts are quite open for your age, what are you thinking! Give me a moment…”

Saying this, he abandoned Yuwen alone in the room, turning to leave.

Program One needed to eat something, once a day, not much, it was just the frozen corpse chunks brought from the railway bridge…

The only existence in the camp that warranted King Yama preparing food personally was Program One. Within two minutes, Zhang Su returned, carrying a plastic bag, hanging it on Program One’s hand, signaling for her to enjoy it back in the room…
