Chapter 914: Not blaming anyone

"Enough!" Bai Yi was furious when she heard Bai Jixuan’s words. How dare he? No matter what, she was still his nominal aunt. How could this man speak to her like this? Who did he think she was? She glared at Bai Jixuan and said to him angrily, "Are you really this disrespectful? Even if I am not related to the Bai family, I am still your aunt! Is this how you are going to talk to me? Do you really think that I will not teach you how to behave with your elders?"

As she spoke, she raised her hand and brought it down heavily.

However, before she could slap Bai Jixuan, her hand was caught. Startled, she turned around and came face to face with a very angry Bai Meiyue.

"What are you trying to do?" Bai Meiyue asked angrily. Her anger was evident in her voice as she glared at the woman who had raised her hand at her second brother. "I asked you to leave, and you are causing trouble here? Do you think that you can run amok in this safe base?"

She then turned to look at Xiao Wu behind her and said to him, "Take this woman out of the safe base and make sure that she is kicked out of here. Don’t let her come inside ever again." Bai Meiyue was truly angry. It was one thing that this woman came looking for trouble with her, and now it was another thing that she actually raised her hand at her brother.

"You!" Bai Yi was furious when she heard that Bai Meiyue was about to kick her out. She turned and looked at her father before saying to him, "Dad, are you going to let them treat me like this? They are actually kicking me out. I am their aunt!"

Old Master Bai’s face turned cold when he heard Bai Yi’s complaints. He glared at her and said to her, "What do you mean? You were the one who was in the wrong. How can you raise your hand and hit someone? Do you think that this is something that you can do just because you are their elder?"

Bai Yi was stunned after being scolded. Even though she was in her fifties she could not help but turn aggrieved. Her eyes turned red and she couldn’t help but say, "dad, are you still my dad? Just because I am not your biological daughter, you are going to do such a thing with me? You are actually standing up for them instead of me?"

When Old Master Bai heard her words, he was even more disappointed in his wife and Bai Yi. Just what kind of teachings had his wife given to her? Look at her. She actually thought that she was in the right.

He pursed his lips and stayed silent for a while before saying, "What? Don’t tell me that you are in the right? I am not with them; instead, I’m with who is right. Look at you...you insulted their mother. My daughter. And you still think you will not be retaliated against? What kind of world are you living in, Yiyi?"

Bai Yi’s face turned pale. The tears that she was holding in started to flood. Glaring at her father, she wrenched her hand free from Xiao Wu, summoning all the courage and pride at that moment and said, "There is no need to kick me out; I will leave on my own." Turning around on her high heels, she spoke in a lofty voice, "Come with me, Murong. We are leaving now."

With that, she marched right out of the greenhouse with her head held high. Bai Meiyue watched her leave; her expression was cold, and her eyes were calculating. Truly, this woman was a mess. She was the one who stole her mother’s life, and instead of feeling grateful, she looked down on her mother and her brothers.

Shall I just kill her? Bai Meiyue could not help but think. However, before she could make a move, Old Master Bai yelped, "Are you okay, Wanning?"

Startled, she turned to look at Yan Wanning, who was having a hard time breathing.

"Mom!" Bai Meiyue rushed to where her mother was standing and caught hold of her hand. "What happened?" Her anger rushed to her head, and she could not help but say, "I will kill her."

But before she could make a move, she was stopped by her mother. "No!"

"Mom, she—" When Bai Jixuan heard the refusal of his mother, he could not help but speak up.

Yan Wanning shook her head and said, "There is no need for you to do any harm to her."

"She called you names—"

"She only spoke the truth. I am indeed a countrywoman, and I have nothing in my hands." Yan Wanning was quite open-minded when it came to such a thing. She smiled and said, "What was wrong with what she said? I was born in the countryside, and I lived a poor life. She, on the other hand, lived a good life with no suffering at all. It’s not a surprise that she looks down on me."

Yan Wanning’s words only caused Old Master Bai’s heart to ache with pain. He looked at his daughter and burst into tears. "This is all my fault. I should have paid better attention to you when you were born; if not for me, those villains wouldn’t have gotten a chance to steal you." His daughter was born with such a good fate, and yet she lived a harsh life. Now, because of their mistake, she was even getting humiliated and that too by his own adopted daughter.

"It’s no one’s fault." Yan Wanning stayed silent and did not say anything else. She did not have much to complain about since she had already accepted that she was not a destined woman; anyway, she was satisfied with her children getting more successful and powerful. With them taking care of everything, why should she feel jealous of Bai Yi?
