Now it’s crucial to maximize the strength of each group.

At the same time, gather the leader of each group.

Bring them together, to set some rules, and punish those who break the rules.

If not, the storm won’t need to arrive before we’re under the same roof fighting amongst ourselves, and that’ll just make things more troublesome."

......

Feng Lihou said a lot, while Old Dou and Big Mouth listened intently.

Big Mouth put his feet on the table, his shoes covered in mud. He hadn’t washed his feet for half a year. His originally white socks had turned black, and they seemed to be fused with the skin of his feet.

An intense odor was carried by the wind toward Old Dou.

Smelling it, Old Dou was overcome by the stench, with tears streaming down his face.

"Big Mouth, you damn... yueyue blah!" cursed Old Dou.

Big Mouth chuckled, touched his ankle with his hand, then stretched out his chapped fingers to pick his nose, flicking a yellow-black substance onto the wall.

Splat!

It stuck to the wall.

"Hehe, I’ve put them down, sorry, Old Dou. My apologies," said Big Mouth with a somewhat proud smile.

Apparently, seeing others disgusted by him was something worth bragging about.

Feng Lihou silently covered his nose with his hand, addressing them both:

"Brothers, what do you think about the suggestion I just made?"

"Alright, Brother Feng, your mind is sharp, I have no issue."

Feng Lihou looked at Old Dou.

Old Dou used one hand to support himself on the table, his head buried beneath it.

With his other hand, he reached over the table and made an OK sign.

Feng Lihou smiled, then clapped his hands and said:

"Alright then, let’s split into three groups, Big Mouth, you go find Da Mao and the others..."

....

Finished with the discussions, Feng Lihou hurriedly watched their departing figures from the conference room, his gaze inscrutable.

"You can know a person’s face but not their heart, ah... who knows if it can work, just have to do our best. Damn those people, if it weren’t for..."

Feng Lihou cursed inwardly with some frustration.

.......

Southern Paradise.

Mr. Hu opened the balcony door, lifting his grandson down from the swing.

"The wind’s picking up, no more playing, or it’ll blow you away."

"I want to play, I want to play more."

Smack!

A slap landed on his butt.

The little boy immediately quieted down, his big eyes welling up with tears, looking at Mr. Hu angrily.

Mr. Hu no longer pampered him as he used to.

He extended his big hand, directly lifting him by the scruff of his neck, like carrying a chick, into the room.

Then tossed him onto the sofa.

The sturdy little boy tumbled over, angrily looking at Mr. Hu.

Just then, there was a knock on the door from outside.

"Come in."

The door opened, and in came Chen Er and Ma Yingxue.

"Mr. Hu, all commands have been delivered. All resource-gathering tasks are paused, and all in-city supplies have been secured."

Mr. Hu nodded, asking: "How many people are still outside?"

Chen Er looked somewhat troubled, saying: "There are still three teams."

Three teams, that’s over a hundred people.

Mr. Hu sighed, saying to them: "Tell Old Zhang’s side to keep an eye out. Open the door as soon as people return, and be careful not to let those refugees outside break in."

"Mr. Hu, most of the refugees have left from under the wall."

"Hmm, that’s normal, just beef up the defenses. Seeing how strong the wind is now, it looks like a storm is imminent."

"Okay," said Chen Er.

Standing beside him, Ma Yingxue saw that Chen Er had finished his report, she quickly chimed in:

"Mr. Hu, Madman Uncle suggested that we might as well harvest all the crops. With the wind so strong now, if the storms continue, the crops might suffer even more damage."

Mr. Hu frowned, asking:

"But it’s only September, as far as I know, there’s still over twenty days to harvest time. Harvesting now when they’re not ripe will surely reduce the yield?"

Ma Yingxue continued: "Madman Uncle said that the future circumstances are uncertain, if a severe cold wave like before hits, we’ll be in even more trouble.

It’d be better to harvest now and at least get sixty to seventy percent."

Upon hearing this, Mr. Hu furrowed his brow even deeper.

He sighed, saying: "Fine, let’s harvest. It’s better than getting nothing at all."

The two of them took their leave.

Mr. Hu sat there in a daze.

Suddenly, he spoke to his grandson:

"Didn’t you want to know your father’s story? Come here, let me tell you. You should start understanding now. Do you know why you’re in here?"

"It’s because your father, on the eve of a storm like this one, came back from a mission outside...."
