Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus
Chapter 1890: 2:
Not far from him, Third Uncle said to Li Yu, “Don’t bother looking, these two Helicopters are completely scrapped. They’re in worse shape than the ones on the roof—there’s only the shells left.”
Hearing that, Li Yu glanced at the two wrecked Helicopters.
They were missing a rotor blade, and the wheels at the bottom were gone.
Sigh…
So he went into the building together with Luo.
The others who had come down with them started hauling the fuel drums out of the Helicopters.
Inside the building.
Luo checked the Helicopters inside and out, then clicked his tongue in amazement and said:
“These Helicopters are really well preserved, barely any damage. Even the electronic star beacons and that kind of stuff are still intact. Of course, whether everything actually works, we’ll only know after we refuel them.”
“But just judging from the exterior, these Helicopters are the best-preserved ones we’ve ever found.”
Li Yu flipped up his mask and said with a grin, “Alright, then let’s hurry up and get some fuel in them and see.”
As soon as he finished speaking.
A few people came in pushing fuel drums and fuel hoses.
“Quick, quick, fill these Helicopters up and try them,” Li Yu said, a little excited.
Four Helicopters, after all.
Up till now they’d only ever found one or two Helicopters at a time, and even then they’d always had this or that problem.
If it hadn’t been for Luo and the others repairing them, they’d probably have been scrap.
Luo held the hose to refuel one Helicopter, while the others pushed more drums in to refuel the remaining ones.
Ten minutes later.
Luo pulled out the fuel hose and said to Li Yu and the others, “Alright, give it a try.”
Third Uncle glanced at Old Qin, and Old Qin got it instantly.
He went straight into the Helicopter and started powering up the instruments.
Whirr whirr whirr!
The instrument panel in the Helicopter lit up at once.
Old Qin operated the controls as he spoke:
“Generator’s fine.”
“Engine intact.”
“Pressurizer stable.”
…
As he checked item after item, smiles began to appear on the faces of Third Uncle, Luo, Li Yu, and the others standing by the Helicopter.
After finishing a full check, Old Qin said happily, “Rare, this is really rare. Aside from a few issues with the water tank, everything else is fine.”
Third Uncle suddenly asked, “Xiao Yu, can the roof still take four Helicopters?”
Li Yu thought for a moment and said, “It should be fine.”
The interior space of this building was huge, with a ceiling height of ten meters.
Just then.
Thump!
A sound suddenly came from above.
Li Yu quickly stuck his head out and saw that the iron door on the hollow steel stairway in the back had been opened.
While Li Yu and the others were checking the Helicopters inside, Li Tie and the group up on the roof hadn’t been idle either.
Over a dozen people pushed together against the water tank, forcing it aside and opening that battered iron door.
Once the door was open, Yang Tianlong’s figure appeared on the stairs.
“Xiao Yu, how are the Helicopters? Still usable?” Yang Tianlong shouted down to Li Yu.
Normally at the base, aside from Li Yu’s immediate elders, everyone else called him City Lord.
But Yang Tianlong was Li Yu’s childhood friend, and older than Li Yu.
After joining Big Camphor Tree Base, Li Yu told him to call him the same as before.
Later, as the base expanded, Yang Tianlong suddenly changed the way he addressed Li Yu one day, and it sounded awkward to Li Yu. So he told him to just call him whatever he was used to.
Yang Tianlong himself wasn’t the blunt, straight-to-the-point type.
Li Yu understood that, so he had no problem with Yang Tianlong still calling him Xiao Yu.
Li Yu looked up and shouted back to Yang Tianlong, “Basically no issues. Once we get them in the air, we’ll know for sure.”
“That’s great,” Yang Tianlong said, extremely pleased.
The other Helicopters had been refueled as well, and after testing, they all seemed fine.
Only the Helicopter assigned to Jackals had rotor issues and needed a replacement.
After Jackals brought this up, Luo smiled and said, “No problem. There are three Helicopters on the roof. We can’t fix those, but we can still take their rotors.”
Hearing that, Jackals nodded and said, “Good.”
Third Uncle looked around at everyone and said, “Then let’s fly these Helicopters out for a test run first, see if they really have no problems.”
Li Yu thought it over and said, “Works for me. And since the iron door upstairs is open now, we should also check whether we can park four Helicopters up there.”
“Alright.”
Very soon, they all went up the stairs together.
With a rough estimate, they concluded that parking four Helicopters wouldn’t be an issue. They could even fit two more.
The two buildings with an ‘L’-shaped layout were linked together.
“Then we’ll park two over here, and two over there,” Third Uncle said, pointing in two directions.
Li Yu took a tool from the Helicopter, placed it at several spots, and marked out the areas.
“Third Uncle, let’s talk about what comes next,” Li Yu said.
Third Uncle nodded. “Go ahead.”
Li Yu continued:
“The fuel left in the Helicopters’ tanks definitely isn’t enough to get us back. We’ll have to draw from the drums we brought.”
“According to the original plan, we were going to send some people back first. If they don’t take as many people and as much equipment on the return trip, they can load more fuel to bring back here.”
“Later I’ll have to trouble you and Uncle Jackal to head back first. I’ll stay here and keep watch.”
