Arceus's Pirate Journey
Chapter 1191: Guard Against the Oden Virus, the New Construction Tribe
Moonlit duel, a tradition passed down from ancient times by the Fur Race. “Moonlit” does not refer to nighttime, but specifically the day of the full moon each month.
This rule is also meant to align with the Moon Lion ability of the Fur Race; normally, they can exert their greatest power only on the night of the full moon, regardless of whether they control the Moon Lion or not.
Even Fur Race who don’t know the Moon Lion can unleash its power, potentially not weaker than those who skillfully master it.
After all, the Moon Lion is a state; any Fur Race can use this ability. Those who “know” it are capable of freely controlling the Moon Lion, able to stop the urge for destruction.
Those unable to control the Moon Lion who forcibly use it might even explode with more terrifying force due to not being able to control the power.
There are records in history where two Fur Race who didn’t know the Moon Lion exhausted themselves due to frenzy.
Due to the possibility of both parties perishing, this kind of event is called a moonlit duel.
“Please wait! Duke, you don’t need to take action in this matter; allow me to handle it for you.”
Upon hearing Setsuna’s proposal of a moonlit duel, Shishilian from the Firearms Team immediately voiced his opinion, thinking there was no need for Setsuna to personally act.
Moreover, Shishilian was not alone; several members of the Firearms Team shared this thought.
“Silence! I said this is a private revenge; I don’t need your interference.”
Dispersing the Firearms Team who intended to fight on her behalf, Setsuna then had Nekomamushi’s handcuffs removed, and said, “Inuarashi, Nekomamushi, twenty years ago, neither of you were my match. Now you are even less so, especially you, Nekomamushi. Previously, you could stubbornly refuse to admit defeat, but a moonlit duel gives no room for stubbornness. You better think it through before you answer me about what to do.”
“No need to think, bring it on. Where’s your partner? Your boyfriend?”
“Hahaha, you really think highly of yourself. This time it’s just me fighting the two of you; a 2v2 is too unfair and meaningless. Tonight is a full moon; cherish the last moments.”
Then Setsuna used Aura’s power to contact the elephant lord, who turned its enormous body amid the waves and headed toward a distant isolated island.
That island is designated for the Hundred Beasts ranking battle, with everything on it prepared for combat, currently serving as the arena.
Setsuna left with some of her confidants, while the remaining Fur Race also dispersed, leaving only a few members of the Firearms Team staring at Inuarashi and Nekomamushi.
As they departed, the departing Fur Race gazed at Inuarashi and Nekomamushi with disdain and disgust. Despite returning to Zou not long ago, Inuarashi and Nekomamushi had completely become outsiders; no Fur Race understood their actions.
Time passed quickly, and when the elephant lord reached the predetermined location, night fell completely. The bright moonlight shone on the ground, adding a hint of murderous aura to the calm night.
Without saying much, Setsuna on the island directly looked up at the moon.
The full moon reflected in her eyes, and the crater formed by meteor impact was sharply defined in the reflection of her pupils.
Due to the light and pupil reaction, Setsuna’s pupils contracted sharply the moment she gazed directly at the moonlight, then electric lights surrounded her body.
Her tall figure became even more slender, the exposed canine teeth grew exceptionally sharp, appearing as dangerous as blades under the moonlight.
Extended fur draped behind her, scarlet eyes locking onto her enemies.
“Come on, let me see how far you two can go for that so-called Oden.”
She didn’t use the power of Lucario, solely employing the strength of the Fur Race itself. At this point, both Inuarashi and Nekomamushi held firm.
The two looked up to the sky one after the other, and their fur color changed, though their gazes held more madness.
Without systematic training, lacking twenty years of practice, they were unable to properly control this power.
As Inuarashi and Nekomamushi also entered the state of Moon Lion, only the roars of beasts and the rumble of thunder remained on the island.
Due to Setsuna’s command, no other Fur Race followed her to the island, including Miaona and Wolf, who were still playing in Wano Kuni.
Unaware of what their parents were doing at that moment.
On the head of the elephant lord, however, gathered many Fur Race concerned about the situation below.
No one could see clearly what was happening beneath; they could only see occasional flashes of thunder.
Their knowledge was lacking regarding the power discrepancy between the combatants; they knew their duke was strong but not exactly how strong.
No one knew Setsuna’s combat style; they were only aware the battle was brief.
In less than fifteen minutes, the thunder flashes dissipated; no signs of battle remained on the island. After two more minutes, Setsuna returned alone to Zou.
Except for her slightly fatigued eyes, she bore no injuries. What this meant, the people of Zou understood well.
However, Setsuna didn’t show joy in victory, only frustration.
“Shishilian, remember to instruct everyone going to Wano Kuni to stay away from anything with the Kozuki name.”
If their battle hadn’t affected her children, Setsuna wouldn’t have wanted to act this way, but she believed Inuarashi and Nekomamushi had fallen into a deranged state, the Oden virus affecting their minds like a storm.
If this virus spread within the Fur Race, the consequences would be dire.
Even up to the last moment, Inuarashi and Nekomamushi never changed their views, preferring death over altering their beliefs.
Such people are acceptable as teammates or friends, but when opposing sides, they are a disaster.
The Fur Race resolved the matter in their own way, though Wano Kuni was unaware, considering it a private family issue in the Fur Race not to be publicized.
Yet the entire incident hadn’t concluded.
Some had died, but the damaged buildings in Kuri weren’t restored. While Setsuna dealt with personal grievances, Kuri underwent reconstruction. Alongside the Machamp family, they gained more reliable new Pokemon.
Some grey-skinned, child-like Pokemon were carrying beams and transporting house materials.
Similarly with grey skin but with more developed muscles and older appearance, Pokemon were mixing concrete.
Muscular grown Pokemon were wielding large I-beams, dismantling old houses…
