Are There Only Demonesses Left in the Cultivation Realm?
Chapter 281 - 177: The Most Beautiful Woman
Chapter 281: Chapter 177: The Most Beautiful Woman
Just then.
A flash of sword light descended from the sky, cleanly severing the cat-faced monster’s head.
A pleasant voice spoke, "I’m still too late..."
Lu Changyuan wasn’t actually unconscious. He had been feigning it, hoping to find a path out of this desperate situation.
But he never expected someone to come and save him.
So, Lu Changyuan raised his head.
And he saw a woman so beautiful it nearly stopped his breath.
The woman held a longsword. Her ink-black hair was tied high in a ponytail, sweeping across her sharp, clean jawline with the gentle breeze.
She wore the simplest indigo martial attire. It was washed to a slight fade, but the tight cuffs and cinched waist still outlined a figure that was both slender and strong.
What was most striking was the unique, heroic air about her brows. Yet, upon closer inspection, she possessed the aura of an immortal filled with compassion for the world.
In this world of Chaos, the woman was like a beam of light.
She looked at Lu Changyuan and said,
"You’re the only one left alive. I was still too late."
Under the setting sun, the woman skewered the monster’s head on her sword. A cold glint shimmered on the blade, and the monster’s blood stained it red, giving her a somewhat terrifying appearance.
But for some reason, Lu Changyuan felt...
’She’s so beautiful.’
It was the most beautiful scene he had ever witnessed, and she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.
"My name is Ling Zhichou. And you?"
~~~~~~~~~
Lu Changyuan opened his eyes.
It seemed he had been dreaming of when he performed the Scattering Technique and Mortal Transformation, to walk the path of the Red Dust once more.
He had always considered himself lucky.
Even at his most vulnerable, right after performing the Scattering Technique to start his cultivation anew, he was lucky enough to have a beautiful young woman save his life. From that point on, he cultivated his way back to the Sixth Realm.
When he had told Xia Lianxue that there was hope as long as one was alive, that it was merely a matter of starting his cultivation over, Lu Changyuan hadn’t been speaking idly. He had truly lived through it.
He was, after all, the only Dual Dao Yao Guang in this world.
"Young Master Lu is awake? We’re almost there."
The three hadn’t stayed at the Qingcao Sword Sect for long. They bid farewell to Li Dashu and left.
The journey wasn’t excessively long, but flying directly would have been inconvenient, and Su Youwan’s Lotus Platform couldn’t possibly fit three people. So, the trio returned to the small green gauze sedan chair.
Su Youwan noticed that Qiu Yuehan hadn’t opened her eyes yet. She placed Mei Zhaozhao in Qiu Yuehan’s arms, then shifted a few steps closer to Lu Changyuan. "Did you have this sedan chair custom-made, Young Master Lu?"
Lu Changyuan shook his head.
"Why would you think that, Miss Su?"
Su Youwan didn’t answer. She wasn’t wearing her blindfold now, and she stared intently at Lu Changyuan.
"What is it?"
She suddenly leaned in and nipped his ear. "Just call me Youwan, or Wanwan. Master likes to call me Youwan that way, too."
Before Lu Changyuan could react, Su Youwan continued, "Why is the inside of this sedan chair lined with bedding? Judging by the size, it’s as wide as two beds. Surely you don’t spend your days engaged in debauchery with your wives and concubines up in the sky, do you, Young Master Lu?"
’Nonsense!’
’...Although, I guess it isn’t entirely nonsense.’
Lu Changyuan remained expressionless. "It’s a coincidence. This Magical Artifact is from the Daoist Sect. I’ve only ever used it as a Flying Magical Artifact."
"Is that really so?"
"Why would I lie to you?"
Su Youwan suddenly reached up, gathering her moonlight-like hair, and moved in front of Lu Changyuan.
"Then let’s start with Youwan."
The Silver-haired Maiden slipped off her small, lotus-embroidered shoes, unhooked her bodice, and folded her legs, one over the other, in front of Lu Changyuan.
"Why are you so excited?"
’I’m actually a little scared, not excited,’ Lu Changyuan wanted to say.
After a long moment.
A smile touched Su Youwan’s lips, her expression unreadable. However, her state of mind could be discerned from her words.
"Call me Wanwan, and Wanwan will help you." Her red eyes stared intently into Lu Changyuan’s. "That’s a threat, you know."
Lu Changyuan said nothing. He just turned his head, glancing at the Moon Fairy out of the corner of his eye.
He did this because he noticed something was off.
’The mark... it’s stirring.’
One look confirmed it. The Moon Fairy had woken up at some point and was now holding the fox, watching him with an amused expression.
Su Youwan, completely oblivious, said softly, "Fine, don’t say it. You’ll say it sooner or later... Hmm? Why have you stopped reacting?"
"Because you aren’t good enough, of course," Qiu Yuehan’s voice drifted over from behind them.
The Silver-haired Maiden finally turned around, her voice growing cold. "Did you do something, Miss Qiu?"
"What could I possibly have done? It’s just that your untouched body fails to arouse my husband’s interest."
The Black Skirt Fairy, looking amused, pushed the Silver-haired Maiden’s legs aside and sat on Lu Changyuan’s lap herself, presenting her back to Su Youwan.
"’Wanwan, Wanwan.’ How intimate." Qiu Yuehan looked at Lu Changyuan.
’Last time, Junior Sister did the same thing, and I didn’t compete with her. But now, this Silver-haired Maiden... does this little Su Youwan think she can defy the heavens?’
Lu Changyuan didn’t dare say a word, much less reveal that his sudden calm was the Moon Fairy’s doing, using her mark to cool him down.
And now, the Moon Fairy was cheating, activating the mark in reverse.
"You see? Miss Su just isn’t that appealing."
Qiu Yuehan hugged Lu Changyuan, kissing his cheek right in front of Su Youwan. Then she shot a glance at her rival. "You little thing. All you know are these cheap tricks."
Su Youwan put on her white blindfold, then took out a bamboo flute.
"This was all just to warm things up for you, Sister Qiu. You just weren’t waking up. Does Sister need me to play a song to help get you in the mood?"
Qiu Yuehan was thin-skinned, after all.
Even after all the absurd things she had been through, hearing such a proposition from the Little Ancestor of the Compassionate Palace made her blush.
"I’d like to see how you explain this to Junior Sister!"
~~~~~~~~~~~
Later that evening, the small green gauze sedan chair came to a stop outside Great Xia Luoyang.
Qiu Yuehan was still a little angry. She grabbed Lu Changyuan’s hand and stormed into Luoyang City, leaving Su Youwan and Mei Zhaozhao to trail behind them.
"Why are you so angry with her?" Lu Changyuan asked helplessly.
"I don’t have the right to be angry?"
"You do, you do. But what’s the point of being angry with her? She doesn’t think like you or I do."
Lu Changyuan tried to reason with her.
"It looked to me like you were enjoying it," Qiu Yuehan said coldly.
"Not really. And as you said, she didn’t actually go through with it. How could she possibly compare to you?"
Lu Changyuan smoothly went along with her line of thinking.
Her mood did improve a little upon hearing that.
It wasn’t that she was angry about Su Youwan trying to "steal a bite"—it was practically a foregone conclusion that the silver-haired vixen would be joining their family. She was just worried that Lu Changyuan would forget the feeling of her lips.
The more women there were, the less of his time she would get.
Seeing that Lu Changyuan was still willing to placate her, Qiu Yuehan just snorted.
"Next time, I’ll tie you up with my hair. And that Stupid Fox, Mei Zhaozhao, is always causing trouble! Utterly shameless."
Lu Changyuan just smiled.
Because Qiu Yuehan couldn’t beat him on her own.
Even if Qiu Yuehan cheated mid-session and used the Supreme Pure Spirit Forget Immortal Technique to cool him down, it was no use. Lu Changyuan only needed to activate his Demon Patterns slightly, and the Moon Fairy would start trembling like a frightened bird.
"Alright, let’s go see Luoyang. You’ve never been here before, have you?"
Qiu Yuehan hummed in agreement.
The bustle inside Luoyang City surpassed even that of Upper Jade Capital in its heyday.
People thronged the long street, their footsteps kicking up a light dust that mingled with the clamor of the marketplace.
An endless stream of carriages flowed by, the crisp jingle of their bells mixing with the occasional shouts of their drivers as they wound through the streets and alleys.
Steam billowed from the food stalls lining the street. The most eye-catching was a young man selling noodles. A worn towel was draped over his shoulder as he deftly scooped noodles from a large, boiling pot, all while shouting to attract customers.
Lu Changyuan remembered something. "Fairy," he asked, "do you want some noodles?"
Qiu Yuehan shot Lu Changyuan a look. "I’ll eat. But there’s no pickled radish in the cupboard this time. I’ll just have to take some from you!"
’Looks like she hasn’t completely gotten over her anger.’
"I heard from Junior Sister that you told everyone I ate your noodles and finished all the eggs?"
Qiu Yuehan hadn’t gotten a single bite of the noodles Lu Changyuan had cooked that day, yet she’d been unfairly labeled a glutton. Naturally, the Fairy wouldn’t stand for it.
Lu Changyuan’s expression didn’t flicker. "Tang’Er was just teasing you. Oh, right. I did treat her to noodles at the city gate back then."
In the end, the two of them didn’t actually intend to eat noodles.
And Qiu Yuehan wouldn’t let Lu Changyuan eat plain broth noodles anymore, anyway. They found a restaurant, went up to the second floor, ordered some dishes, and watched the bustling crowd from their window.
Before long, Su Youwan walked over, holding the fox in her arms.
Her stunning appearance, combined with the fox in her arms, naturally drew many stares.
But the Silver-haired Maiden seemed completely oblivious, simply sitting down next to Qiu Yuehan as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
"Young Master Lu, there’s something here. Youwan can’t see Luoyang’s destiny clearly."
Lu Changyuan grunted in acknowledgment.
The Dao he cultivated had nothing to do with destiny or fortune, so he couldn’t perceive Luoyang’s national fate. He could only vaguely sense that the Great Xia was currently prosperous and thriving.
But he could sense the currents of avarice stirring. Something here was drawing him in.
