Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 959: The Long Journey, Huh (Part 2)

“Weird? How weird?”

Su Huan had seen the rule-bending anomalies caused by the world’s collapse.

He released some the last time at the passage, but didn’t release it all, and there are still a few sealed inside his body. He plans to give them all back at once when the time comes.

Joey took off his oversized suit, revealing fur that glowed with an oily red hue.

He led them to the open space outside.

Two broad nostrils spewed out a wave of heat. His black eyes suddenly turned a vibrant red, not the translucent kind of flame, but an anger as vivid as blood.

Scarlet lines emerged on his fur, like streams of flowing energy, converging, colliding, and surging in the void, making the air hot and twisted.

Su Huan made a mental contact with a rule on Joey’s body.

His eyes slightly widened.

That feeling was like a fuse touching a flame source, the most primitive anger surging from deep within his soul, burning towards his brain.

But it only flared up for an instant, then was suppressed on the spot by the rules of [Energy] and [Night], shrinking into a small flame at the bottom of his heart. The desire and emotion to destroy everything gradually faded away.

However, what truly caught Su Huan’s attention was that this [Anger] rule seemed to be alive!

Joey said solemnly, “You felt it, right?”

Su Huan’s blue and black eyes alternated as he nodded, “Interesting.”

“I had Hundred Beasts investigate, and your human Tier Four experts aren’t affected by the rules.”

“But [Anger] is different. Every time I use it, my understanding of this rule deepens a bit. Even if I don’t actively approach it, over time, my understanding of the rule becomes deeper.”

Hundred Beasts nodded in agreement, saying with lingering fear, “Back then, I was still far from advancing to Tier Four, but because I came into contact with this stone, my progress was swift, as if this rule was urging us to evolve quickly.”

Su Huan felt the same sensation within the small flame in his heart.

Other rules don’t actively engage or resist life’s contact; it’s just there, waiting for you to approach if you wish.

But [Anger] is like, “Come on, I’ll give you power!”

That’s why Su Huan believed this rule was alive.

Su Huan looked up and said, “So that’s why you readily agreed to the trade?”

Joey extinguished the rule lines from his body and said earnestly, “Yes, I don’t intend for my clan to walk this path.”

Su Huan pondered for a moment, “I can exchange another Rule Stone with you, but I’m not sure how long these stones will last.”

Perhaps at the moment he mends the sky, these stones will disappear.

He wasn’t planning on deceiving them.

The kangaroo dressed back in his suit and straightened his tie before solemnly extending a paw to Su Huan.

“You have gained the friendship of the Kangaroo Clan.”

As he gazed at the hands of man and beast clasped together, Hundred Beasts had a subtle look in his eye.

They stayed in Australia for a day, watching the red night sky and the grand gathering of the Kangaroo Clan.

Su Huan returned to the Acid Rain Zone with the last Rule Stone of the journey.

…

Chuanto New City, Headquarters.

Li Wangchuan stared grimly at the man who drank half of his stored liquor and didn’t spare the other half.

“Isn’t your Armed Train branch in the Acid Rain Zone? Why do you always come to me?”

Su Huan sat on Li Wangchuan’s desk, chugging a bottle of brandy and looking disdainfully at the crossed-out symbols on it, “Is this supposed to be famous liquor? It’s got no kick.”

Li Wangchuan mocked, “You could drink sulfuric acid; maybe it would stimulate your dead taste buds a little.”

“Don’t get so worked up. I’m only drinking a couple of your bottles and borrowing your communication device.”

Su Huan said casually.

“What if I don’t lend it?”

“Then I’ll just take it by force. With our relationship, we’re one and the same.”

Li Wangchuan was taken aback, his face darkening further.

If he didn’t know that even a nuke couldn’t kill this guy, he would have blasted him with a cannon already.

“By the way, how many are your Steel Council planning to send for this expedition to Eternal Night?”

Li Wangchuan took a deep breath.

“The Steel Council is no more, and this is the Acid Rain Zone. What do you want me to use to persuade a bunch of self-serving scavengers in the apocalypse to fight against some ferocious invaders far away in Eternal Night Zone?”

Su Huan clearly didn’t buy this explanation.

He laughed, “If you tell them to go, would they dare not go?”

In all but the most disaster-prone zones, major corporations and forces have taken control. While they may not influence everyone, they certainly control many people’s production, life, and survival.

The control surpasses that of pre-apocalypse nations.

Even the loneliest scavenger can survive by scavenging, hunting, but only if he lives on the edge of one of these large powers’ controlled areas.

Without large companies clearing waves of corpses and powerful Evolution Beasts, the common man wouldn’t even have the cracks needed to survive.

Unless one can evolve like Hundred Beasts or Ma Hongyu, ignoring disasters and living in isolation.

But they might develop issues, like being talkative, or overly fond of making friends with animals.

But that’s already quite good. To survive in such a world, who doesn’t have a quirk or two.

So Li Wangchuan’s words are pure nonsense.

The battles of the downtrodden need no reason, just like staying alive.

The individual will of the strong is enough to decide the fate of everyone on this land, yet sadly, the combined fate of all people can’t influence the will of the strong.
