Chapter 58: Chapter - 58: A Beast

Far above the Royal Magic Academy, beyond the reach of ordinary students’ vision, two figures stood facing one another in midair.

One was an elderly woman wearing a purple magic robe, the vice principal Janet Cupin. The other was a man completely concealed beneath a black robe. Even his face was hidden behind a black mask, making it impossible to identify him.

Several small magic circles floated around the vice principal’s body, ready to activate at a moment’s notice. While the man in the black robe floats in the air with a black magic staff in his right hand, ready to counter the attack any time.

"A grand mage?" A hint of surprise passed through the vice principal’s eyes as she looks at the unknown enemy.

Currently Principal Alfred Cupin is not in the city as he has some important matter to attend somewhere else, so vice principal Janet is currently the strongest person the academy has and normally she is more than sufficient with her grand mage level power.

"Who are you?" Janet asked as she observes the man whose strength is not below her own.

"You don’t have to know that" The man replied in an uninterested tone as if he was just leisurely wandering around the place and the chaos that is going on below has nothing to do with him.

"So Bloodied hounds isn’t an independent organization after all" Janet said with her eyebrow raised in suspicion. The meaning of her words are simple yet carried a heavy revelation for anyone who understands them.

The moment this group dared to attack the academy and this mysterious grand mage appeared, it has become clear that they have a solid backing from some bigger organization because no small terrorist group normally has a grand mage among their ranks nor they would dare to attack the academy even if they have one.

Janet’s mind ran through several possibilities that could be behind this attack, some of which are enough to make even her feel dreadful.

"You look too calm for someone who should be in a hurry" The man in the black robe said as he looked down towards the academy buildings where faint smoke could be seen rising from several places.

But as soon as he lowered his gaze, Janet made her move as magic circles around her lit up and a massive amount of blades condensed of wind shot forward towards the man.

But the man seemed unfazed as his figure blurred for a moment and disappeared from his place, and then four of him appeared in different directions.

*Shadow Magic? That is a pain to deal with*

Janet grimaced over the realization. It is not that she is weak or unable to fight him, but the problem is that it will take a lot of time and that is what she does not have right now.

The Shadow attribute as its name suggests is a variation of the dark attribute and its forte resides in the illusion and concealment abilities of the dark attribute which makes it difficult to deal with. Of course it also has some offensive prowess especially at the level of a grand mage, the attack power is more than enough to severely injure or even kill normal magic users.

"Just accompany me for a while...." The man said as his voice resonates from all sides like illusion copy are him, and the next moment all his four figures moved simultaneously.

Janet obviously didn’t just stand still as her figure also blurred and she moved at a terrifying speed which looks not short of an illusion either.

In the corridor of the eastern training hall:-

"Die!"

Kamil roared as the gigantic poisonous tail struck the center of the Storm Curtain that engulfed Kai’s figure.

**BOOOOM!!**

The entire corridor shook violently by the impact of the collision as cracks spread across the floor beneath and a sharp grinding sound echoed through the corridor.

The rotating currents of Storm Curtain continuously shaved against Kamil’s tail, stripping away its skin little by little while redirecting the tremendous force of the impact.

"...Impossible!" Kamil’s confidence shattered immediately, his strongest strike wasn’t breaking through at all.

But without giving him even the slightest opportunity to retreat, Kai stepped forward again, forcing the moving Storm Curtain against him.

Kamil instinctively pulled his tail back to avoid further damage, but that brief hesitation was exactly what Kai had been waiting for.

Without wasting a single heartbeat, Kai raised his magic staff and launched another round of ’Piercing Storm Needles’.

Dozens of needles shot forward towards Kamil who immediately twisted his body while swinging his tail to intercept them. But he was not able to stop more than just one as other needles swiftly changed trajectory and hit him from multiple angles.

Several wind needles pierced through his arms. Others hit his legs and shoulders. The remaining ones slammed into his torso, forcing him backward.

"Ugh!"

Kamil coughed out a mouthful of blood as his body crashed against the floor.

Before he could steady himself, Kai has already reached near him thrashing the violently moving current of storm curtain on Kamil’s body. ℴℴ𝘮

The next moment, the dome shape structure of the storm curtain collapsed as it transformed into a spinning vortex, engulfing Kamil’s whole body in its wrath.

"AAHHHHHH!!" His agonizing cry ran throughout the corridor making even the others shuddered from the horror, especially Jamil.

"Brother!" He shouted in horror but it was his mistake to distract himself during a battle and Elena didn’t let passed the opportunity as she instantly cast a spell and shadow spikes rose from the ground severely injuring Jamil before he was able to step back.

Meanwhile the beast magic traits on Kamil’s body started to disappear as his poisonous tail gradually shrank until it disappeared into magic energy. The purple mana surrounding his body also dispersed.

After the vortex subsided, Kamil’s limp, unconscious body fell to the ground with blood gushing out from several parts, though he is still alive thanks to his body that has been changed over a long period of time by his magic, but he will not be recovering any time soon.

The corridor fell quiet except for the distant sounds of explosions coming from the other side, where Elena and the others were still fighting Jamil, though they have also cornered him back to the gate of the training hall.

Jamil definitely didn’t expect Elena to be so proficient with magic, and Kai utterly defeating Kamil was something he hadn’t imagined even in his wildest dream, which resulted in him caught unprepared.

Seeing the situation, Kai took a slow breath and steadied himself with his magic staff. Storm Curtain had consumed far more mana than any spell he normally used, but defeating Kamil first had been the fastest way to solve this situation.

*But why I am still feeling so uneasy* Kai thought as he steadied himself, looking around for any other hidden enemy if there is.

After making sure that there’s no one else, Kai turned toward the other end of the corridor where Jamil is cornered. It was time to help Elena and the others finish their battle quickly.

But right at that moment, Kai stopped, sensing a rapid approach from the starting turn of the corridor, Kai snapped back to look and then-

BOOOOM!

"Agh!" A loud sound of a blast is heard from beyond the turn of the corridor along with a painful grunt.

Then Kai saw something or someone engulfed in some dark magic energy crashing into the side wall at the start of the corridor.

Kai immediately picked his magic staff, ready to attack at the movement notice when he was finally able to see the figure that stood after the dark magic subsided from the crash.

It was a female figure, someone Kai and others know, their magic theory teacher Riza Curtis. But her appearance right now looks completely different than they know as they can see blood flowing out from the side of her head, tainting part of her hair red.

Also there can be seen a claw mark on her shoulder where her clothes has been tore, same for her abdomen. She is also breathing heavily like being exhausted from fighting someone or something.

As if sensing the gazes from the students, Riza glanced at their side and the next moment her expressions turned that of a panic.

"RUN!" She turned towards the students and shouted at the top of her lungs.

But then another voice is heard "oh I see, you still have the time to worry about others?" It was a rough voice, definitely of man.

Riza swiftly jumped aside dodging some kind of energy attack that made even the wall that it hit, collapsed. Riza turned her back towards the students as she cast magic which created a dark barrier in front of her.

"Hahaha! you really think these tricks can stop me?!" The man’s voice sounded again and the next moment a claw shaped magic attack tore through the barrier of darkness that Riza has just created, like it is just a piece of paper.

And a figure of a burly, 7 feet tall beast like man came into Kai’s view and the man also noticed him, and smiled appeared on his face.

"ah, so here you are...my prey."
