Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Fighting A good deeder

Camouflage Man was far, Too far.

An arrow like that should’ve taken seconds to reach them. It should’ve given them time to react. But it didn’t, instead It cut through the air like a scream.

In just the blink of an eye it was already close to kissing Morgan’s throat.

"WATCH OUT!!"

Devil moved.

One second he was three steps away. The next he was behind Morgan. Palm open, arm raised. Devil opend his palm as a shield.

THUNK

The arrow punched straight through his hand mercilessly

Blood sprayed hot across Morgan’s cheek and dripped fast from Devil’s palm, thick and violent.

Morgan’s horse reared and bucked, throwing her. he hit the dirt hard.

Shei and El didn’t waste a second another second, they attacked at the direction the arrow flew from

BAAM!!!

El’s lightning tore a tree in half. Bark and fire rained down.

Shei’s whip cracked out, alive, whipping through bushes and branches like a snake hunting prey. But to no avail, her whip searched the area but didn’t find anything, it was as if it was never there.

"WHO’S THERE!!" Shei roared, eyes burning. "Stop hiding like a coward! Come out and face us like a man!"

A slow sudden Laughter drifted from deep in the trees. Low and yet Mocking.

"Ha. You think I’m a fool? I’d never stand a chance against all of y’all."

The group turned, heads snapping and searching. But the forest just stared back. Silent and lifeless.

Morgan rushed to Devil. "Are you—"

"Ah. Don’t worry ’bout me." Devil’s voice was calm.

With his other hand he gripped the shaft and pulled.

Schlick.

The arrow slid out. He didn’t even flinch. Blood poured from the hole in his palm and ran down his wrist.

Morgan seeing this ripped a piece of his robe and started tying it tight around his hand.

Devil watched him, then smiled faintly.

"You’re a good boy."

He didn’t get to finish.

FIUU!!!

Another arrow. This one aimed straight for Morgan’s head.

Devil twisted, caught it mid-air an inch from his face. His fingers closed around the wood like it was nothing.

Then his injured hand clenched. And suddenly the ground shuddered,

Cracks split the earth.

From the dirt, from the roots, from everywhere — spikes made of stone shot up. Bone-white, jagged, erupting like teeth from the ground.Camouflage Man never saw it coming.

"AHH— SHIT!!"

The spike pierced through his legs, pinning him to the ground and dragging a choked scream out of him.

Before he could breathe, Shei’s whip snapped.

It wrapped around his wrist, yanked, and hurled him out of the trees. He flew, tumbling, crashing toward them.

Juda was already in the air.

He twisted, ninja-fast, and drove his heel down at Camouflages jaws

CRACK!

Camouflage’s jaw shattered. Teeth flew. He went limp before he hit the ground.

Shei walked up and looked down at him. Disgust in her eyes.

"He’s just a weak hero. Not even worth the points."

Devil kicked the crossbow at his feet. It was black, sleek, and humming faintly. Definitely not standard issue.

"Agreed. But I wanna know where he got this. This ain’t his."

"It doesn’t matter," Shei said, raising her whip. "He dies here."

But then Devil caught her wrist.

"We need answers first."

He dropped to a knee in front of the unconscious man and grabbed his throat.

"Who sent you?"

Camouflage’s eyes snapped open. Burning Wild Judas’s kick hadn’t touched his spirit at all it seems

He grinned through broken teeth.

"Your time is coming. Calamities!"

Devil smiled back. His grip tightened.

"Let me ask you again. Who. Sent. You?"

Meanwhile — Deep in the City

A woman sat in a dark room, lit only by monitors. And She seems intent on watching a video on the screen: Camouflage, bleeding, surrounded.

Behind her stood a man who looked like he’d fallen out of a painting.

Long, lush blond hair. White wings folded behind his back. Too beautiful to be human.

"Angel," the woman said quietly. "I don’t think he’s gonna survive this."

The Angel tilted his head.

"Well. Then his use has come to an end. We found the hideout of the Calamity refuge."

His voice was soft yet lethal.

"Initiate self-destruct mode."

On screen, Camouflage’s body began to glow White and Radiant.

"I serve The Holy Angel," he whispered, blood on his lips. "And he will see to it that you Calamities are destroyed!"

Devil’s eyes narrowed. He felt it But it was far Too late.

BAAM!!

Camouflage detonated. Flesh and light tore outward, painting everyone red,

"Ewww" said Shei but that wasn’t all.

The crossbow on the ground also pulsed once.

BAAM!!!

The second explosion was worse.

It ripped through the woods, shattering the group like ragdolls, splintering trees and carving a crater into the earth.
