Awakened As A Calamity
Chapter 21: The purple haired boy
Chapter 21: Chapter 21: The purple haired boy
The boy seemed to be 13 years old. Purple hair. Blindfolded with a strip of dark cloth.
A green sword in his hand.
He stepped straight into Angel’s Realm of the Gods like it was walking in the park.
"What... is that?" Angel frowned, blood still dripping from his wings.
The boy didn’t answer, instead he moved.
FIUUU!!!
He shot toward Morgan at blinding speed.
At the last second, he grabbed Morgan by the collar and twisted.
PENG!!
Singer’s golden arrow screamed past where Morgan’s head had been.
"What!!" The singer’s jovial smile instantly vanished. "What is this?"
But the purple-haired boy was already running with Morgan on his shoulder. Straight for the edge of Angel’s domain.
"STOP HIM!!!" Angel roared.
He tried to stand. His wings trembled.
[ MANA: 0 ]
[ WARNING: FORCED MOVEMENT WILL CAUSE PERMANENT DAMAGE ]
He collapsed anyway. Like a white bird shot out of the sky.
But even on the ground, his hatred didn’t die. With the last of his strength he mustered two sword-like feathers.
"If you run now, I’ll kill your mother! You hear me, Morgan Liues?!"
Agnes ran too. But the moment she stepped into Angel’s Realm, the pressure in his realm crushed her
Her knees hit the ground. Their Waves are completely incompatible.
She could only watch as the boy they wanted to kill escaped.
Morgan heard it.
He started struggling on the boy’s shoulder.
"I have to save my mom!!"
"Don’t be a fool," the purple-haired boy said, voice calm. "You can’t beat them and save your mom. For all it’s worth... she’s already a lost cause."
"Don’t you say that!!" Morgan thrashed.
"Look around," the boy said. "Top 2, 3, and 4 Good Deeders on your tail. You think you can beat them?"
"Bu—"
"This is the world of Calamities," the boy cut him off. "It’s cruel. It’s unfair. And it’s sad. But you have to man up and move on. Your mother will only hold you back."
Morgan stopped struggling.
Behind them, in the blood and rubble, his mother stood.
Beaten, Broken. But smiling.
That warm smile. The one that used to melt his heart when he was 6 and had nightmares or when he was afraid.
"My boy," Liues whispered.
THRUUT!!
One of Angel’s last feathers pierced her chest.
"Nooooo!!!"
Tears tore down Morgan’s face.
DAME YOU ANGEL!!! I SWEAR I’LL GET VENGEANCE.
"Don’t worry," the purple boy said, still running. Like he could hear Morgan’s thoughts.
"You’re not strong enough to take on the country alone. Not yet.
But the time will come. And you will get your vengeance."
Angel stared, panting on the ground. The trick with the mother failed.
"Don’t let them escape!" The President’s voice crackled through the comms.
"Finish them. Singer!"
"Roger."
On the city wall, Singer’s bow warped. Gold light twisted and reformed it turned into a sniper rifle.
"Third Wave: Sniper."
She knelt. Aimed.
"Bam." she said with calmness but yet serious, her jovial mood completely gone
The bullet tore through the air faster than sound.
"Angel is top 2," the President said, watching the feed. "But in long-range... no one comes close to Singer. Her ability is unrivaled."
The purple-haired boy felt it coming.
He drew his green sword with one hand.
PENG!!!
The bullet shattered against the blade.
The force was too much. Both he and Morgan were blasted sideways, crashing to the ground.
"No way," Singer whispered. Shock broke her voice.
"How... how did he survive that?"
"How?!" The President slammed his desk. "He blocked the bullet?!"
Agnes and Angel watched too, frozen.
I know I am strong...but even I cannot block Singers arrow head on like that.
Though shocked, Agness still ran towards them in one final bid to stop Morgan.
"Poison Calamity: Third Wave — Poison Fog."
Purple smoke exploded outward, swallowing the entire street.
Agnes stopped running. She couldn’t see anything.
Singer lowered her rifle, frowning. Her vision was the best in the country but even she was blind.
When the fog finally cleared...
Nothing.
Empty street. No bodies. No blood trail.
"They’re gone," Agnes said quietly.
The heroes searched. Every alley. Every rooftop.
Nothing.
As if they had vanished from the world.
"How is this possible!!" The President was sweating, though the office was freezing. "They’re just kids!"
"They’re kids," the voice on the phone replied, "but their techniques give them an advantage"
" I don’t care! Search for them. We must find them. If they keep growing... they could surpass even a Berserker Calamity."
"Understood, Mr. President."
"Notify all factions. We must find Morgan Liues. And find the purple-haired boy."
