Awakened As A Calamity
Chapter 32 : Killing Tabitha
Chapter 32: Chapter 32 : Killing Tabitha
Angel groaned softly before closing his eyes completely, waiting for his death.
Outside the barrier, Falco and Nene both smiled. By now, plenty of Good Deeders had come. But still, none were able to break through the barrier.
"HURRY UP!!" Shouted Commissioner Varn.
"Sir, we’ve deployed all our heroes and none could break through—"
"I know, Agness! I can see!"
Agness didn’t show a shred of emotion. Instead, she just kept silent and stood beside Commissioner Varn.
"Get me the president...."
"Sir—"
Varn turned and faced Agness. He was so close to her.
"If... If Angel dies, the Safety Commission will suffer a fatal blow. And I can’t tell you to use your Hax Negation... not after your public fight. Sigh... So the only one who can help us is none other than President Gou."
"Why don’t we find Speedster, or Singer... or at least any other Good Deeder?"
"No. We own President Gou. And Bailon has sworn fealty to whoever becomes president. So, we own Gou, and Gou owns Bailon."
Varn didn’t wait for Agness to respond. His com-link rang two times before it was answered.
"Gou."
"Varn. What do you want?"
"We need your help with—" Varn cleared his throat to continue.
"You know Bailon won’t answer to such a call." The president cut in abruptly.
"Gou. You owe us."
"And I would have fulfilled what you asked, but not this."
"Gou... please. We cannot lose Angel. Both the Capital and the Safety Commission cannot lose him."
"I’ve known you ever since we were kids, Varn. You don’t do something unless you’re sure to profit from it. Without Angel, the Safety Commission will fall out of business. That’s why you want to save him."
"If you know me so well, then you already know what will follow after refusing to help me, right? Just because you’re the president doesn’t mean you’re untouchable."
Gou kept quiet for some minutes before sighing and saying,
"I’ll do what I can about it."
After cutting the call, the President was completely alone in his room.
With a fancy badge on his suit, he gently pressed that badge and—
TCHIKKK
A sound like tearing silk. The space in the office split open like a veil. President Gou slowly stepped into the tear before it closed shut again.
Meanwhile, within the barrier:
Tabitha carried the rod and ran toward Angel.
In the most dying and critical moment, when Angel closed his eyes, ready to accept death—
Guner’s gun was shining with power, ready to make Angel a donut.
*THRUUT!!*
Tabitha shoved the rod right into the back of Guner.
"Arrgh, you bitch!!"
The pain forced Guner to let go of Angel. Sparks of red energy crackled where the rod struck, and his whole body jerked.
The second Angel was let go, he moved.
Using the last of his strength, he drove his feather right at Guner’s neck.
*SHUNK.*
"DIEEEEEEEEE!!!"
Roared Angel. His body suddenly surged with raw, desperate strength that made him shove the feather-sword even deeper, grinding bone.
Guner screamed. Blood misted the air.
With a backhand, he slapped Tabitha away like a bug.
He didn’t even use much force, but she slammed into the dirt.
"Ah!" She groaned. Blood slowly began to drip from between her legs.
Guner shoved Angel away and clutched his bleeding neck. His once proud stance was gone. His back hunched. But his grin never left.
"Now I see why you love her,"
Guner growled. He turned to face her. She was bleeding, unable to run.
"Leave her out of this, you—"
"Choose your next words wisely," Guner cut in. "Both the lives of you, your son, and your wife with her unborn child are in my hands."
"He’s just bluffing,"
Said Nene, her expression twisting into a frown.
"I know. Let’s just hope Angel doesn’t realize that."
"Damn you, Calamity! I will kill you if you touch her!!!" Shouted Angel in a desperate attempt.
"You cannot even walk!!"
Guner was also weak from the immense blood loss. His vision blurred violently.
But he still turned around and gripped Tabitha by the hair.
"I wanted to let you live. But you just spoiled your chances."
"NO!! PLEASE GUNER. LET HER GO!!!"
Angel was completely drenched in blood. Even his wings wouldn’t function.
In my life....I’ve never been sooo powerless!!
Thought Angel. He began dragging himself through the dirt, one fatal attempt to reach and stop Guner.
"You’re begging a Calamity? Huh, that really is funny to hear. But like I said, I will not let her live..."
A small pistol materialized in Guner’s hand. He pressed the cold barrel to her head.
"Now, we Calamities will show you pure wrath!!"
"NOOO!!!"
