Back to the 1980s: Becoming the Villain's Lucky Wife

Chapter 663 - 693: Our Daughter Has My Eyes, Our Son Has Yours

  • Next Chapter

Qin Jiao wasn’t a ruthless person by nature.

But this time, those three had really gone too far!

She had come so close to death, along with her babies. A single tragedy that would have cost three lives.

If it weren’t for Xiao Shi’s help, there was no way she could have gotten through it safely with both babies on her own, no matter how strong she was.

And without the space... the outcome would have been too horrific to imagine!

So, she would never let those three get away with it!

But the ruthless glint in Shen Yi’s eyes was even more intense than hers.

Shen Yi said, "Shen Feng was caught. He gave up Lin Nian and Lu Jiuan, but they’ve already fled. The police are hunting for them now. Also, their electronics company in the South has been seized."

"Lin Nian ran off? What about her child?"

"She abandoned her."

Qin Jiao froze. She had just become a mother, and even though these two little ones had put her through a near-death ordeal, her heart melted every time she looked at them.

Besides, the two babies had been so well-behaved during their few days in the space. They never cried or fussed. They ate and drank on cue, and after they were full and tired from playing, they would fall fast asleep.

If they had been even a little bit fussy or difficult to care for, there’s no way Xiao Shi, a teenage girl and a complete novice, could have handled them.

So, when Qin Jiao heard that Lin Nian had just abandoned her child, she was utterly shocked.

She finally murmured, "I really don’t know what that woman’s heart is made of."

’She’s just too cruel.’

However, if Qin Jiao had known that Lin Nian once drugged her own daughter, she probably wouldn’t have been surprised that she’d abandon the girl to save herself.

The three of them returned to the house in the Rose District, which Shen Yi had already tidied up. After getting Qin Jiao and the babies settled, Shen Yi washed his hands and cooked a large meal for Xiao Shi.

Qin Jiao added, "Xiao Shi, after you’ve eaten, take a shower and go get some proper rest in the guest room."

’These past few days must have completely exhausted Xiao Shi.’

Xiao Shi didn’t stand on ceremony with her sister and brother-in-law. She just nodded, took a shower, and after devouring the huge meal, the girl was asleep the second her head hit the pillow.

Qin Jiao watched her sister, her eyes filled with warmth.

"It’s all thanks to Xiao Shi."

"Mm," Shen Yi agreed.

Shen Yi was also filled with a lingering fear. He hadn’t even had a chance to properly look at the two children yet. Instead, he reached out, pulled Qin Jiao into his arms, and said with a tremor in his voice, "Jiao Jiao, I was scared to death. I thought... I thought it was going to be like the car accident."

That time, they had faced death together.

But this time, the thought of Qin Jiao being in danger alone... all day, his nerves had been stretched so taut it felt like they would snap at any second.

There was a moment when Shen Yi had wanted to kill Shen Feng with his own hands.

Qin Jiao wrapped her arms around his waist. "Mm, I was terrified at one point, too. I was afraid that the happiness I’d finally found would just vanish. And I was afraid the babies wouldn’t make it out healthy."

The two of them, both strong-willed people, held each other in that moment, wrapped in the gentle relief of having found what was nearly lost.

They held each other for a long time, only separating when one of the babies cooed twice.

Qin Jiao said, "Come on, Shen Yi. Come meet your son and daughter."

It was only then that it dawned on Shen Yi. "Twins? A boy and a girl?"

Qin Jiao laughed, exasperated. "Yes. You really don’t pay much attention to your kids, do you?"

"I care about the kids, but I care more about their mom."

Now that he was sure Qin Jiao was okay, Shen Yi finally went over to look at his daughter and son.

The son had been born ten minutes earlier, making him the older brother. The daughter was the younger sister. The two little babies had already shed the red, wrinkly look of newborns and were now fair, tender, and adorable.

Shen Yi studied them for a moment before saying, "Our daughter has my eyes. Our son has yours."
