Back to the 70s: My Childhood Sweetheart Spoils Me Rotten
Chapter 1443 - 1445
Carrying a packed cake, Gong Ruini hooked her arm around Zhao Xuran’s, "Let’s not go to the mall."
"Don’t you dislike it?" Zhao Xuran held onto Gong Ruini, indicating she shouldn’t bounce around.
Even though his wife was wearing sneakers, every time Zhao Xuran saw Gong Ruini bouncing around, he felt something dangerous might happen.
Gong Ruini looked at the man’s nervous expression and wanted to say she wasn’t that fragile. However, seeing his worrying face, she could only keep silent and walk seriously.
"You need to be careful. Right now it’s fine, but as your belly gets bigger, it’ll become a burden."
Zhao Xuran knew it was a bit excessive to ask Gong Ruini, who occasionally wanted to act childishly, not to behave so immaturely, but if she doesn’t pay attention now, it would be difficult to change later.
Gong Ruini nodded helplessly, already contemplating why she decided to become pregnant.
Ever since she got pregnant, there were all sorts of restrictions, saying this can’t be done and that can’t be done, making Gong Ruini feel like she was about to collapse.
Every time she did something a little off, people would pop up, using words or expressions to remind her to be careful.
Gong Ruini thought about it and got irritated, as if she was a stepmother?
Was she not looking forward to this child?
Gong Ruini walked ahead angrily, accelerating without caring what Zhao Xuran would say.
Zhao Xuran was indeed startled by Gong Ruini’s sudden acceleration.
What was going on? Zhao Xuran was stunned; everything was fine before, why the sudden outburst?
Zhao Xuran wanted to grab Gong Ruini, but when he was ready to chase after her, he was shocked by her sudden run.
She went from hopping to running, what was happening?
"Ni Zi, don’t run." Zhao Xuran called out, not wanting to speed up the chase because he was holding a cake box.
If he ran, the cake would tilt, and then it would end up in a messy state.
Trying to mind the cake while chasing Gong Ruini, how could he catch up?
Though Zhao Xuran was trying hard to catch up, when he reached the door, he was shut outside.
"Ni Zi, open the door." Zhao Xuran didn’t dare knock forcefully, only softly called out.
"No, I’m in a bad mood." Gong Ruini stated she definitely wouldn’t open the door, needing alone time.
What was wrong with his wife’s bad mood? Zhao Xuran was utterly confused.
But she said she was unhappy, so he could only wait at the door.
A big man standing in the hallway, even those usually indifferent foreigners became curious.
"Hello." A waiter came immediately after receiving a guest complaint.
Zhao Xuran felt a bit awkward seeing the waiter, "I live in this room, my wife is inside."
Even though Zhao Xuran didn’t bring an ID, luckily the Asian features gave the waiter a clue.
He didn’t exactly recognize Zhao Xuran, but knew that this room was occupied by a couple who were Asian.
"You can go to the reception to provide documentation, then you can open the door." The waiter suggested.
Documentation? Zhao Xuran chuckled awkwardly, having just wandered nearby, who would carry documentation?
Moreover, Gong Ruini had said she needed alone time, so it might be better to let her have some peace.
Zhao Xuran leaned against the wall, holding the cake, quietly contemplating why Ni Zi was suddenly unhappy.
Gong Ruini stormed inside, initially sitting quietly on the balcony sunbathing, lost in thought.
When feeling down, eating some cake, drinking cocoa, and sunbathing would surely improve her mood.
Exactly, "cake, cake." Gong Ruini remembered buying cake but looked around to find no trace of it.
Then she realized, Zhao Xuran was carrying the cake, no need to ask, it must be in his hands at the moment.
"I’m not going out." No cake to eat, no juice to drink, sunbathing will do.
Lying on the chair, sunbathing, feeling the breeze, Gong Ruini yawned unwillingly.
Although the California sun was fierce, the upstairs balcony provided some shade, making it feel nice and warm.
Yawning again, Gong Ruini couldn’t help but yawn again, gradually drifting into dreams.
Wait, what was Zhao Xuran doing now, surely he wasn’t foolishly standing at the door, right?
Just before falling asleep, Gong Ruini thought of Zhao Xuran, worried if he was okay, but thought later he wouldn’t just foolishly stand in the hallway.
With so many eyes in the bustling hallway, surely someone would notify the floor attendant.
Having not gone in at this point, Zhao Xuran, whose face wasn’t yet as thick as the Pacific Ocean, should have headed downstairs to the lobby.
Gong Ruini thought this, becoming even more carefree in her rendezvous with Zhou Gong.
Gong Ruzhi fell asleep; meanwhile Zhao Xuran, waiting at the door, got anxious, pressing his ear to the door for a long time but hearing nothing.
"Geez, the soundproofing is too good." Zhao Xuran was anxious, his wife’s so-called need for quiet, couldn’t it produce some sound, didn’t she know he was worried?
Zhao Xuran was slumped against the door, and the passing guests were quite surprised.
"My wife and I had a fight." Zhao Xuran explained awkwardly.
The passing foreigners checked out Zhao Xuran’s clothes; though they weren’t designer, their quality was decent. Plus, he was holding a cake and juice from a famous nearby coffee shop.
Add on Zhao Xuran’s expression, particularly some male foreigners who’d had similar experiences before, they didn’t say much.
The more introverted guests smiled at Zhao Xuran, while the outgoing ones said "keep it up," and some even offered advice.
Zhao Xuran saw a foreigner standing next to him, speaking for quite a while, which surprised him.
He’d never seen such an enthusiastic foreigner before, naturally wary of potential ulterior motives.
Mark noticed Zhao Xuran’s guarded demeanor, smiled sheepishly, and pointed to the opposite room, "I fought with my girlfriend."
"Just because I looked a bit longer on the beach." Mark expressed his frustration, saying the beach had so many bikini beauties; as a normal guy, what’s wrong with glancing a few more times?
The problem was his girlfriend saw this and wouldn’t back down, what could he do, "it’s tiring."
Haha, looking a little longer at bikini beauties—what else could that be if not a big deal? "At least you know the reason; I don’t even know the reason."
"But, come on, you have a girlfriend, why look at other women."
"Looking doesn’t matter." Mark, feeling he couldn’t quite relate with Zhao Xuran, nonetheless made small talk.
Should* he go downstairs for a drink? Mark was tempted but realized retreated when considering the consequences.
At least here with company, though awkwardly, prevented anyone from calling the police.
