Back to the 70s: My Childhood Sweetheart Spoils Me Rotten
Chapter 1450 - 1452
Gong Ruini got off the plane and looked at the two still entangled behind her, speechless at their antics.
Zhao Xuran held Gong Ruini tightly, "Don’t look back."
"They’re absolutely crazy."
All Zhao Xuran could think was how unfortunate this was. He initially thought this trip, despite some unpleasant interruptions, would be mostly joyful.
Unexpectedly, on the return journey, they encountered such an incident. It was truly upsetting.
"Exactly." Gong Ruzhi turned his head to glance behind them, thinking about how, given the public setting, making a scene would be embarrassing.
After all, he wasn’t going to be just another nobody. He absolutely couldn’t afford to cause trouble now, or he might really want to spit at them.
"Alright, enough looking," Gong Ruini just wanted to distance herself from them as quickly as possible, "Meeting them was like bad luck piled on for eight generations."
"But that guy too, really, he has no sense of responsibility." Though he disliked the woman, Mark was really lacking in any perceived responsibility.
"Men with responsibility are hard to find these days," Gong Ruini said sarcastically.
After her words, Gong Ruzhi looked pointedly at Zhao Xuran, curious about what his brother-in-law thought of this.
"Xiao Zhi, you should listen more to your sister," Zhao Xuran, unperturbed, thought his wife was talking about how scarce responsible men were.
Come on, he was surely a very responsible man, so his wife couldn’t have been referring to him.
If she wasn’t talking about him, then it was about his brother-in-law, who was busy with his startup and computer studies.
If not, he’d be trailing around after Zhao Guangran all day, which worried Zhao Xuran about this kid turning into another Zhao Guangran.
Although this kid was perpetually into computers, he was actually at the age of taking interest in girls.
There were times when Zhao Xuran picked Gong Ruzhi up from school and saw him laughing and chatting with several girls, which surprised Zhao Xuran.
His wife always thought the kid was pitiful, talking constantly about not making friends in school.
There were times when Zhao Xuran really wanted to ask his wife to not focus on this kid too much.
Honestly, if any boys didn’t like him, it was likely his own doing.
Though Zhao Xuran wasn’t particularly interested in women, he was still a man and had his preferences.
He used to think Gong Ruzhi, popular in China, might not be as popular in the United States, but was proven wrong.
There’s only more popularity, no "most popular." Zhao Xuran couldn’t deny this, but didn’t know how to express it.
In China, no matter how popular, there’s a limit. Both girls and boys are controlled tightly by their families, wanting to do something is only wishful thinking.
But it’s different in the United States, many girls are so open-minded, potentially raiding his "little cabbage" anytime.
And if she did, well, boys generally don’t suffer losses, as long as they protect themselves properly.
But why did Gong Ruini bring it up? Had she noticed something?
Even though Gong Ruini was sleeping a lot recently due to pregnancy, not paying much attention to external matters, she couldn’t miss anything she truly wanted to know.
"Hey, what did I do?" Gong Ruzhi really didn’t understand how the conversation suddenly shifted to him, when he genuinely hadn’t done anything.
Brother-in-law, oh brother-in-law, how extreme, Gong Ruzhi looked discontentedly at Zhao Xuran, indicating it was meant to caution him.
But why did his brother-in-law continually signal him, Gong Ruzhi really didn’t get it.
Was it that his brother-in-law wanted him to take the blame? Sorry, he wasn’t going to help out.
Recently, his brother-in-law seemed to be floating a bit, maybe some pressure from an elder sister was beneficial.
Oh, this kid really is, Zhao Xuran thought of his clueless brother-in-law, agitated—the kid wasn’t thinking it was helping him, right?
Humph, it’s clear you can’t be too kind. Look, he meant well, sadly someone disagrees.
"Hey, what are you arguing about, it has nothing to do with you," Gong Ruini was baffled by these two, when unrelated issues could set them off bickering.
Were they recently bored? Or felt ill at ease tending to her being a pregnant woman, unable to vent at her, only able to turn on each other?
Gong Ruini began introspection, was she made quite demanding recently? Or else why did they have such expressions?
Unrelated to them? Upon hearing this from Gong Ruini, Zhao Xuran and Gong Ruzhi set aside the chaos, both turned to her.
"Unrelated to us?"
Gong Ruzhi grumbled unfairly at Zhao Xuran, his elder sister likely said this to save face for their brother.
Zhao Xuran breathed a sigh of relief, luckily she didn’t know, or truly her temper might cause even more trouble.
Something wrong? Gong Ruini noticed Zhao Xuran and Gong Ruzhi’s odd expressions, a problem, definitely a problem.
"Continue this at home." She tossed the phrase over her shoulder and walked ahead.
An unexpected ending, Gong Ruini knew they wouldn’t take her words lightly.
Continue this at home? Zhao Xuran was momentarily taken aback, "Xiao Zhi, sorry about this."
He quickly went to catch up with Gong Ruini, leaving Gong Ruzhi swaying in the wind.
Gong Ruzhi was truly shocked, was it related to him? Why did his brother-in-law apologize?
Was his brother-in-law going to push him out? Heaven’s sake, can’t be, his brother-in-law wasn’t seriously going to do something that outlandish.
It wasn’t working, he needed to ask his brother-in-law what he planned for self-preservation, what he intended his brother-in-law to do.
This guy wasn’t planning on saying some nonsensical stuff, right?
If the plan was merely to smooth things over, Gong Ruzhi wasn’t bothered, but worried what if his sister after a few days raised the issue again.
Gong Ruzhi wanted to reach Zhao Xuran, if he was indeed going to send him out as a scapegoat, he at least needed to know what the issue was. Otherwise, he could swap the topic.
It’s not Gong Ruzhi surrendering, it’s him understanding for now their sister’s happiness was of utmost importance.
Moreover, if he genuinely argued with Zhao Xuran, he stood no chance of winning.
If truly provoking his brother-in-law, he wouldn’t know how this brother would deal with him; surely life wouldn’t be great.
Gong Ruzhi wanted to grab Zhao Xuran and negotiate, but would he get the chance?
Seeing Zhao Xuran had already caught up to Gong Ruini, left Gong Ruzhi helpless and desperate, only hoping his sister would go straight to sleep at home.
