Chapter 1518: Chapter 1520

Gong Ruzhi carefully supported Renee, his face full of tangled emotions.

“Jing clearly has such a big belly already, she should be resting more.”

“That’s to build stamina.” Renee was actually exhausted too; walking around with such a huge belly was really no ordinary hardship.

Especially with the weather this hot, it was honestly no ordinary burden.

Build stamina? That didn’t sound right. Wasn’t his sister planning to go straight for a C‑section? Why would she still need stamina training?

Renee chuckled. She couldn’t exactly say she just wanted to lie there and not move, but the kid in her belly simply wouldn’t allow it.

She had truly never seen a child who meddled this much while still in the womb; if she didn’t walk them around a bit every day, they’d start wreaking havoc in there.

At first Renee hadn’t realized this. The few times she tried to slack off and refused to walk, the two kids would start moving especially violently.

If she’d walked more that day, then they really did become more considerate.

If it were only once or twice, Renee would have called it a coincidence, but the number of times this happened really wasn’t small.

To avoid her belly having any chance of being kicked “open,” even when she really didn’t want to move, Renee could only helplessly get up and walk around.

“Sigh, I really lose to you.” Ruzhi was full of admiration for his sister; if it were him, he might not have that kind of willpower.

Panting, Renee finally finished that day’s “training,” hurriedly found a place to sit down, and let out a long breath of relief.

Thankfully, thankfully, there were only a few days left before she’d “unload the cargo.” They all said once the baby is born, the way it fusses will make you feel like stuffing it back into your belly at top speed.

But Renee could guarantee she would absolutely never have that thought. The reason was simple: the kid in her belly was already no ordinary level of noisy.

Honestly, they could make you feel like you were about to collapse at any minute.

“I wonder if they’ve picked them up yet.”

“They must have. At this time they definitely should have. I just don’t know how much stuff Mom and the others brought.” When Ruzhi remembered his dad saying he’d actually paid several thousand in overweight fees, his head throbbed.

He really didn’t understand. He’d clearly told them that the United States has everything already, so why did they insist on hauling so much stuff over from back home?

“It’s fine, the more the merrier.” Renee could already picture the scene; she figured they must have scared the airline staff silly.

“I wonder if it looks like they’re moving house.” On that point Renee was very sure. Zhan Jing and Cai Meina must have bought a mountain of things.

How could her uncle Gong Ruwen fall behind? Of course he’d be in full buy‑buy‑buy mode.

Her rich aunt Wan Qiweng, about to be upgraded to great‑aunt, kept saying she’d aged another generation, but whenever she went shopping and saw something nice, some little trinket with Chinese characteristics, she absolutely went buy‑buy‑buy.

Just at home now, there were who‑knows‑how‑many pairs of tiger‑head shoes and tiger‑head hats, plus little qipao, little mandarin jackets and all kinds of outfits.

Basically, if you could think of it, they’d already bought it.

What, it’s even going to look like they’re moving house? Ruzhi was stunned. They’d already mailed who‑knows‑how‑many packages to the United States. If they weren’t moving, he honestly didn’t know where they were supposed to put all that stuff.

He hadn’t expected there to be even more. My god, all he could say was: this child hadn’t even been born yet and was already the center of everyone’s attention.

That made Ruzhi, who’d always been the focus in the elders’ hearts and the most pampered one, feel just a tiny bit jealous.

Even though he kept saying he was already a big kid, the thought that his parents would shift their attention to the little baby in the future still made him feel a bit uncomfortable.

“I wonder if there’s anything for me.” Ruzhi was full of anticipation. It wasn’t that he really needed anything; he just wanted to know if, in his parents’ eyes and hearts, he was still that cute little baby.

Renee didn’t get involved in answering that question. Although she felt there probably wasn’t anything for Ruzhi, after all she remembered that Cai Meina hadn’t discussed buying clothes for him with her in a long time.

Before, whenever Mei Na wanted to buy clothes for her younger son, she’d ask Renee whether Ruzhi had grown taller or put on weight lately. But when Renee thought back carefully, it really seemed like it had been ages since she’d asked.

If she hadn’t even asked about his size, how could she have bought him clothes?

Poor little Ruzhi was still looking forward to it. What a pitiful child. He was about to find out that he was no longer the focus of his parents’ attention.

“Forget it, I’d better not get my hopes up, or I think I’ll be really disappointed.” Seeing the tangled look on Renee’s face, Ruzhi immediately understood.

Even though he’d mentally prepared himself, when he saw that all the luggage they’d brought almost couldn’t fit into the business van, he was dumbfounded. “They brought that much stuff?”

Holy crap, with that much stuff, was it okay for him to expect a little something after all?

Mei Na and Zhan Jing had seen photos of Renee before. Ever since she got pregnant, she absolutely had to take a picture every day, calling it “for the memories.”

But no matter how many photos they’d seen, none of them were as shocking as seeing her in person.

They knew Renee was carrying twins and had figured her belly would be big, but they hadn’t expected it to be this big.

Zhan Jing had carried twins too, but even her belly hadn’t been this large. How on earth did Ni Zi end up with a belly this huge? Zhan Jing was stunned.

What she worried about was whether one of the babies was too big, and especially whether the other baby’s growth and development weren’t good enough.

“That baby?” Zhan Jing asked worriedly. She’d wanted to come long ago, but after hearing Zhao Xuran say that the babies were doing really, really well, she’d relaxed a bit.

She hadn’t expected that things might not be quite as problem‑free as he’d made them sound. She shot Xuran a displeased glare; Renee was too embarrassed to say it herself—wasn’t this something the babies’ dad should be telling her?

What could Xuran say? Was he supposed to say that Renee’s belly had suddenly ballooned over the last two months, and really hadn’t been this big before?

Even if he said that, he figured his mom wouldn’t believe him anyway.

Renee signaled to Ruzhi to take out all the scans they’d done over the past few days. “Actually, the reason my belly is so big is that the other baby’s development is good.”

“Really?” The moment Zhan Jing heard that the other baby was developing, her face lit up with delight.

Renee hummed in confirmation, inwardly grateful that she’d brought all the previous scans to the hospital—it was perfect for showing them to Zhan Jing.

As a Doctor, reading scans was absolutely her specialty. After going through several films—

“This baby still isn’t developing all that well, but it’s better than we expected.”

“As for the older one… honestly…” Zhan Jing only wanted to say: isn’t this child a bit too aggressive? How else could it have eaten itself this fat?

In the end she held back. This wasn’t something they could change with external effort anyway, and besides, the situation now was already far, far better than they’d initially expected.

“Once he’s out, we’ll put him on a diet,” Xuran said viciously.

Wow, Ruzhi was dumbfounded. Did his brother‑in‑law have water in his brain or something? Aren’t you supposed to wish for a chubby baby? How come this soon‑to‑be older brother actually wanted the kid to be thin?

Renee gave Xuran’s suggestion nonstop thumbs‑up. This kid deserved some hardship, or he’d really start thinking he was the big boss.

These days, Renee had truly had enough of this little big boss in her belly. She was just waiting for him to be born so she could give him a proper lesson and let him know who the real boss was.
