Back to the 70s: My Childhood Sweetheart Spoils Me Rotten
Chapter 1520 - 1522
Gong Ruzhi listened for a long time before he heard the faint crying, the disparity was truly significant.
"It’s okay, at least the baby cried." Zhan Jing thought this child had a difficult start, with such a weak cry after birth.
Zhao Xuran wiped away a tear, "Yes, at least the baby survived."
A person really shouldn’t have too many ambitions or ideas, initially all he wanted was for the child to be born, but gradually his expectations adjusted, hoping for a healthy child.
At first, Zhao Xuran truly didn’t think his mindset was problematic, aren’t these the typical demands of parents?
But when this day finally arrived, the heart was not shattered, but at least chilled.
With Zhan Jing’s words jolting him awake, indeed, why was he preoccupied with so much? After all, the initial goal had been achieved.
Gong Ruini was shaken by the vastly different cries of the two children, the eldest akin to a heavy artillery shell, loudly announcing his arrival with his cries.
The second child cried delicately, delicate enough to make one wonder if this baby was particularly lazy, otherwise, why was even the crying weak?
However, hearing this soft cry made Gong Ruini truly want to cry.
Looking back on those days, the two of them endured it together, day by day, thinking about where to find renowned doctors and ways to save this child.
Unexpectedly, this child, pronounced hopeless by many doctors, indeed was born after all, calling it a miracle isn’t wrong.
"Doctor, both children?" Gong Ruini gently asked with effort.
"The eldest is a son, weighing 4.8KG..." Although the newborn has just arrived, simple examinations are still necessary.
For example, height data, as for heart and lung function, even without specific checks, it’s clear that he’s a lively and energetic child.
Regarding the eldest’s physical condition, Gong Ruini knew perfectly well, didn’t she go through quite an ordeal with this child?
What’s important is knowing the condition of the second child, although he did eventually start moving occasionally, the frequency wasn’t high; every day, he’d kick a bit just to declare his presence.
When he was in a bad mood or didn’t want to move, he’d go days without exercising, leaving Gong Ruini torn between laughter and tears.
"The second child is a daughter, weighing 2KG..." The doctor looked at this data, truly unable to comment.
The disparity is too evident, "Height is similar, though."
It’s indeed light, one almost ten pounds, the other just four, especially since their heights are nearly identical, making the daughter look extraordinarily thin.
"However, as for the daughter, we need to send her for examination and then decide whether she needs to go into the incubator." The doctor looked at the child, who hadn’t cried much since birth, also feeling overwhelmed.
But at least now, things are considerably better than they initially anticipated for the worst scenarios.
"Look at the child." The doctor held the daughter up to Gong Ruini, giving her a look.
If the child’s condition is alright, she can soon be with Gong Ruini in the recovery room; if not, it might take a few days before they reunite.
Although Gong Ruini felt various reluctance, she knew if the child’s data wasn’t favorable, her wanting the child to stay meant little.
Gazing at the red, thin baby before her, Gong Ruini, who had been controlling her tears, couldn’t hold them back.
"Her skin will be fair in the future." Gong Ruini remembered hearing that the redder a baby’s skin at birth, the fairer it would be later on.
Zhao Xuran knew the baby was born, and despite being anxious, he breathed a sigh of relief, especially hearing the cries confirming his reassurance.
When a nurse brought out just one child, everyone’s hearts jumped; weren’t there two children born, so why only one out here?
What about the other one, is her condition lacking?
As everyone speculated amongst themselves, "This is the second child, a daughter..."
The nurse elaborated on the child’s specific condition, "I need to take her for checks."
Examination, Zhan Jing understood why this child came out first, implying her condition wasn’t good enough, otherwise, she wouldn’t need checks.
Most importantly, this child was truly as thin as possible; Zhan Jing didn’t have the courage to reach out and touch the child.
Feeling a careless move might inadvertently harm this child.
Zhao Xuran saw the thin daughter, especially as she breathed gently, her body’s movement being hardly perceptible.
Without careful observation, one might not even notice the child was breathing.
"May I hold her?" Zhao Xuran requested of the nurse.
The nurse paused, "Sure, but quickly, since she needs to go for checks."
Zhao Xuran nodded, adeptly taking the child from the nurse’s arms; although he hadn’t held a child for a while, his experience of caring for twins as a child remained.
He may have been a bit awkward initially, but he soon adjusted.
"An An, I am Daddy, I am Daddy."
"Don’t worry, you will surely grow up safely."
Earlier, Zhao Xuran pondered for a long time but hadn’t decided on nicknames for the two; their formal names were snatched by grandfathers Zhao Gang and Gong Tao.
This left father Zhao Xuran frustrated, determined to give them supremely meaningful, amazingly stunning nicknames.
But standing outside the operating room earlier, Zhao Xuran realized it wouldn’t matter how cool and impressive the names were.
Nothing was as good as the children having safe and healthy bodies.
An An? Zhan Jing previously asked Zhao Xuran whether he had decided on nicknames for the children since Zhao Gang and Gong Tao struggled over the formal names, which weren’t finalized by the time Zhan Jing left for the United States.
Without the formal names settled, Zhan Jing hoped Zhao Xuran would at least decide on nicknames.
The response he got previously was undecided, but unexpectedly this was resolved so quickly.
After watching the nurse carry the child away, "You’ve decided?"
Zhao Xuran breathed a long sigh, "Yes, I’ve thought it through."
"The eldest will be Pingping, the second An An, the third will be Jianjian, and the fourth Kangkang."
"Safe and healthy." Zhan Jing muttered softly, although ordinary nicknames, they reflect parents’ best hopes for their children.
"Pretty good names." Cai Meina really liked the names.
For the Zhao Family and Gong Family, in terms of money, wealth, and prospects, they don’t lack; as long as they don’t do anything foolish, they’ll always live well.
In fact, safety and health are most essential.
"Ni Zi and I solely wish our children achieve these; it’s ample." As for achieving more, it would be a bonus.
"Yes, yes." Some may feel Zhao Xuran’s expectations for his children are too low.
As Zhao Xuran and Gong Ruini’s children, how can they not be expected to aim higher, many hope their children’s academics excel, finding a good job and succeeding is best, forgetting the most crucial point.
That is the children’s safety and health, accomplishing this is truly sufficient.
