Allen sat slumped on the foot mat in the back of the car, his body leaning against the seat back.

Gu Jin arrived.

He knew that, in this world, the only person who truly cared for the Family Head was Gu Jin.

This is why the entire Darwin Family wholeheartedly obeyed Gu Jin.

Because she really was very good to the Family Head.

Allen glanced at the Family Head lying on the seat, weakly saying, "The Family Head is still not awake, but there is a faint breath."

This sentence transmitted through Linda’s phone into Gu Jin’s ear.

She took the phone, her voice gloomy and cold, as if it were carrying shards of ice: "Allen, tell me, why did An come to harm?!"

This was clearly an interrogation.

Allen did not hesitate and plainly said, "It’s my fault, we did not protect the Family Head well!"

His voice was filled with grief, sadness, and remorse.

Gu Jin tightened her lips, her face expressionless, her aura becoming more sinister and terrifying.

She gritted her teeth: "What did you encounter in Death Valley? Tell me the details of An’s accident."

"Yes!"

Allen’s weak body slightly straightened, recounting the events completely.

"We escorted the Family Head to Kunlun intending to enter Death Valley, but we encountered some people; they are the Guardians of the Kunlun Mountain Range, and these people refused to let us into Death Valley. The Family Head was extremely obsessed with Death Valley.

We devised a plan to divert the Mountain Guardians’ attention, and when they were not noticing, we led our team into the valley. From the moment the Family Head entered Death Valley, he started acting strangely and kept mentioning your name.

The Family Head seemed to be searching for something in Death Valley. We circled around Death Valley, searched for a long time but found nothing, the Family Head was very disappointed, but staying inside for too long, we had no choice but to leave the valley, and just as we were exiting, the Family Head suddenly collapsed..."

Though it was a simple narration, Gu Jin understood two key points.

Kunlun Mountain Range is in Death Valley, where there are Mountain Guardians.

As for last year, when she and An Mingji rescued Gu Dehao, why they did not encounter those Mountain Guardians, that can be left aside.

An Mingji is inexplicably obsessed with Kunlun Death Valley, searching for something.

She remembers, before entering Death Valley, she asked An Mingji.

An Mingji said once he sorted things out, he would tell her after leaving the valley.

Unfortunately, now his life is uncertain.

Gu Jin narrowed her eyes, reflecting on Allen’s words, feeling there’s something she overlooked.

"Screech!!"

The emergency brake of the vehicle sounded.

Gu Jin snapped back from her thoughts, looking outside.

On the same road, a convoy confronted them.

Gu Jin recognized the car brand immediately, knowing it was the Darwin Family’s convoy.

In one of the cars, was her An.

She pushed the car door open, ignoring Linda and Kasi who chased after her, and ran quickly towards the already stopped convoy.

While running, Gu Jin realized she forgot to change her slippers before heading out.

As she rushed, one of her slippers fell off.

Gu Jin couldn’t be bothered to turn back and pick up the shoe to put it on.

She ran barefoot down the road, towards her An.

Her fair and tender feet stepped on the road, occasionally stepping on a stone or two.

Gu Jin seemed oblivious to pain, her pace never slowing.

Allen, sitting in the car, saw Gu Jin approaching them from afar.

The worry on her face was clear for him to see.
