“Ahh!” The nurse screamed and immediately retreated far away.

Luckily, it was just a soft pillow that had been thrown; had it been anything harder, her face would have been ruined by now.

No one had expected a patient to possess such destructive power.

For a moment, no one dared to come closer even by half a step.

“Go away! Go away!” Baili Xia’s small hands continued to search the bed for something to defend herself with.

Dongfang Jin strode over and grasped her trembling shoulders, “Xiaxia, don’t be afraid, they mean no harm.”

“…Jin! Jin, make them go away! Make them go far away! Go away quickly!”

Seeing Dongfang Jin, she was like a drowning person grasping the only log that could keep her afloat.

She clutched onto the front of his shirt with all her might, her eyes filling with tears, “Make them go!

Make them go quick!

I don’t want anyone to see, I don’t want!”

“Alright, alright, I’ll make them leave, they’ll go away right now!”

Dongfang Jin hadn’t expected her to be so agitated; he had only intended to take her blood pressure and monitor her heart rate.

Now that she was this agitated, letting doctors and nurses near her might actually harm her physically.

Driven away by the young master, the doctors and nurses immediately cleared out completely.

The door to the room was shut, leaving just the two of them inside.

It took a while before Baili Xia’s emotions stabilized.

Seeing Dongfang Jin’s face full of worry, she felt a bit apologetic.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t do it on purpose.” She really hadn’t meant to.

She didn’t even know why, but her emotions spiralled out of control whenever she saw doctors and nurses approach.

“It’s okay, just rest well and don’t think about anything else,” Dongfang Jin whispered soothingly.

No matter what was bothering her, at least she could relax completely first and not be so tense.

Now, seeing that she seemed alright, apart from her face being a bit pale, he too felt relieved.

“Rest for a while, and I’ll take you down for dinner later.” He looked at the time; it was almost time for dinner.

Baili Xia then realized that she was lying in an unfamiliar bed.

Looking at Dongfang Jin, surprise filled her eyes, “This place…”

“My room, I’ve brought you back to the Dongfang family,” Dongfang Jin replied as he glanced at his watch, seeing her completely calm down.

But Baili Xia interrupted him before he could continue, “Can I… not go down? I don’t want to meet too many people.”

Her mind was in turmoil, and she hadn’t yet decided how to proceed with her life.

She preferred not to meet unrelated people if possible, and even if she did, she wouldn’t know what to say.

After all, the Dongfang family wasn’t just Dongfang Jin; there were his parents, his brother.

“Okay, if you don’t want to see anyone else, then you won’t,” Dongfang Jin said.

He had no desire to force her; at this point, just her willingness to stay was the best outcome for him.

How they would proceed would be a matter for later.

If she was still willing to depend on him, then he would always be her harbor.

He ruffled her hair and smiled indulgently, “Go freshen up in the bathroom, I’ll have the servants bring you some food.”

Baili Xia looked up, met his gaze, and finally, she also smiled, “Okay.”

…

At the Sima family’s separate courtyard with a wooden house,

Lu Xuening stood in the hall, looking first at the shattered wooden door, then at Sima Liuyue, anticipating her to unleash her fury.

Some things, of course, she had known all along.

Whatever Sima Liuyue would do today was all within her grasp.
