The two still didn’t speak, not knowing what to say.

After Mu Xiaojiu finished changing her clothes, she also found a set for Baili Xia.

She sat on the bed herself, leisurely getting dressed.

This time, Mu Xiaojiu merely stood by the window, looking at the scenery outside, quietly waiting.

Not urging, not speaking, not paying any attention to her.

As soon as Baili Xia finished dressing and had washed up in the bathroom, he immediately pushed the door open and left.

Baili Xia had no choice but to follow him out.

It wasn’t until they were out the door that she realized several more people were in the living room.

Nangong Xu, Ye Hua, and Di Ran were all there.

Five dishes and a soup sat on the dining table.

Seeing them emerge, Ye Hua promptly pulled out chairs for the two of them.

Mu Xiaojiu took her seat, and Baili Xia sat down opposite him, leaving an open chair for Nangong Xu.

Clearly, Ye Hua and Di Ran weren’t planning on staying to dine with them.

Ye Hua looked at Mu Xiaojiu, who had taken her seat, an expression of wanting but hesitating to speak on his face.

“If you have something to say, say it,” Mu Xiaojiu said, picking up her glass and leisurely tasting the aperitif.

Ye Hua glanced at Baili Xia and saw that she had already picked up her chopsticks and was quietly eating.

He hesitated for a moment before softly reporting to Mu Xiaojiu, “Mr. Xiaojiu, Mr. Mu has arrived and has been waiting downstairs all afternoon.”

He paused, seeing no reaction from either Mr.

Xiaojiu or Baili Xia, before he continued, “He’s been waiting for an entire afternoon.”

Mr.

Xiaojiu did not know whether he was willing to see him, so Ye Hua could only wait.

Earlier, Mr.

Xiaojiu had been training with his brothers and missed Mr.

Mu when returning.

Since coming back, he had stayed indoors and Ye Hua was unsure whether to disturb him.

Why Mu Xiaoyao had come was known to all, and Ye Hua feared Mr.

Xiaojiu might not be pleased.

Everyone had always been unable to decipher Mr.

Xiaojiu’s thoughts on this matter, so naturally, Ye Hua dared not make a decision on his own.

Mu Xiaojiu merely fell silent for a moment before saying leisurely, “Set another place at the table for him.”

Ye Hua was a bit taken aback, having thought Mr.

Xiaojiu would indeed be displeased.

Once he grasped the situation, he immediately breathed a sigh of relief, “Alright, I understand.”

Ye Hua left the room.

Di Ran exchanged greetings with Mu Xiaojiu and also said hello to Nangong Xu before following out the door.

Baili Xia continued to quietly sip the soup Nangong Xu had served her, her expression unchanged by the news of her brother’s arrival.

It wasn’t long before Ye Hua led Mu Xiaoyao in.

He carried the air of having traveled swiftly, his short bangs tousled by the wind, clearly having rushed in his journey.

Though slightly disheveled, his perfect demeanor remained unblemished.

Baili Xia couldn’t help but give him a second glance.

In fact, his presence already warmed her heart.

In such an atmosphere, after being wounded by distrust from the man she fancied.

Seeing her brother rushing over out of concern for her suddenly lifted the weight from her mood to an appreciable degree.

With her brother’s arrival, her heart settled.

Mu Xiaoyao merely glanced her way before turning to the bathroom to wash his hands and face.

She was fine, without a hint of anything amiss; just this fact alone was worth the long wait downstairs.

By the time he returned, even Nangong Xu had already taken his seat, busily de-boning fish for Baili Xia.

The usually imposing and stern Mr.

Nangong, caring for a young girl like a nanny, made for an inexplicably bizarre scene.

Yet, it was harmonious in its own right.

Mu Xiaoyao cast a glance at the two of them, then approached Mu Xiaojiu and respectfully called out, “Uncle.”

Mu Xiaojiu didn’t even lift his head, responding indifferently, “Eat.”
