The two figures walked away.

Until both had entered the dense forest, disappearing completely from view, the man standing atop the cliff had yet to retract his gaze.

Looking towards the entrance of the forest, a touch of indescribable solitude was added to his glossy black eyes.

The cliff wind blew against him, tousling his short fringe.

Beneath the moonlight, his figure appeared even more mysterious and inscrutable, yet it invoked a sense of pity.

High places are intolerably cold…

As they walked far away, as the wind blew, he suddenly felt an intense sense of loss.

Standing alone on the high ground, with no one by his side, was it loneliness?

Perhaps.

He didn’t know how much time had passed by the time his panting brothers struggled to catch up.

Mu Xiaojiu suddenly stepped forward and spoke coldly, “Go back and start over!”

Dozens of men, wide-eyed and dumbfounded, nearly knelt before him.

What was with Mr.

Xiaojiu tonight, determined to torment them without rest?

But indeed, Mr.

Xiaojiu really went down, quickly nearing the bottom of the cliff.

The brothers above, all pale-faced, still tried to muster their spirits.

They could all see Mr.

Xiaojiu was in a bad mood, but they were innocent!

Which bastard had angered their great Mr.

Xiaojiu and not come forth to apologize and make amends!

Dragging them into this was truly unfair, wasn’t it?

It was utterly cruel!

…

Mu Xiaoyao walked Baili Xia back to her room, then left.

His room was not far from here, but he didn’t stay with them.

Nangong Xu was watching TV in the living room, actually just waiting for them boredly.

Seeing Baili Xia return, he stood up and headed to the bathroom: “I’ve laid out a bath mat for you, it’s not suitable for a pregnant woman to soak in the bath, just wash up and go to sleep.”

“Okay,” Baili Xia responded indifferently, without refusal.

Since Nangong Xu was here to take care of her, not letting him do anything would probably leave him idle as well.

“Master, will you come pick vegetables with us in the garden tomorrow? Teach me acupressure when we have free time.”

She spoke while walking into the room after her bath.

“Okay.” Usually, Nangong Xu rarely refused anything she asked.

But tonight, looking at her, he seemed hesitant to speak.

“Is there anything else?” Baili Xia turned back to look at him standing at the door.

It was almost eleven, and at this time, the only thing left to do was sleep, out of sheer boredom.

“Your… your complexion doesn’t look very good,” Nangong Xu observed, focusing on her face paler than usual.

Knowing she was like a frightened bird now, frightened of any examination from anyone, even a simple pulse check.

Thus, suggesting a thorough check-up for her wouldn’t be welcomed, let alone asking some other obstetrician to examine her.

Was she always afraid deep down, afraid that Mr.

Xiaojiu truly didn’t want her child?

Baili Xia looked at him, her small hands constantly clenched, her body tensing again.

Fearing to excite her too much, Nangong Xu quickly said, “Forget it, just go to sleep for now. Tomorrow, I’ll make you some nourishing medicated soup.”

Seeing her still tense, Nangong Xu felt somewhat helpless.

“You’re not suspecting even the soup I make might have ulterior motives, are you?”

Baili Xia didn’t directly answer his question, but instead lowered her lashes, her voice so faint she could barely hear herself.

“I really…

can’t guess his intentions.”

“Because you can’t guess, you always dare not trust?” Nangong Xu sighed softly and suddenly reached out to rub her head.

“He wants to trust you, but is innately cautious. You want to trust him, yet fear his intentions towards you are not simple… When will two such people truly be able to be at ease with each other?”
