She had merely taken a few extra glimpses without much thought when the man holding her suddenly pushed off with his foot and, in a blink, changed their climbing direction.

“Uncle…” Baili Xia bit her lip hard.

In the moment she looked up at him, even though he remained silent, she suddenly understood his thoughts.

But, was this…

perhaps too kind to her?

If he was already so kind to her, why couldn’t his attitude improve?

Mu Xiaojiu paid no attention to the girl’s musings, and in a moment, he climbed to where the camellia was and bowed his head.

Since his left hand was holding her and his right hand was gripping the rope, he couldn’t spare a third hand to pick the flower.

He could only lower his head and, with his mouth, gently bite and snap off the camellia.

With a tilt of his head, the flower was already brought close to Baili Xia.

The agile and perfect man, with a flower that was white with hints of pink in his teeth…

that image, Baili Xia believed, would be unforgettable for a lifetime.

She reached out and accepted the camellia, holding it in her hand.

She managed to bring it to her nose for a brief intoxicating scent before the man continued, leading with the rope, to climb upwards again.

The night wind on the mountain was quite strong, especially between the cliffs.

Gusts of wind blew, ruffling his short hair.

The scenery was charming, the man was enchanting, and everything about this night was ineffably moving.

It touched her to a complete mess…

Suddenly, she felt a bit reluctant to reach the top so soon.

If he could hold her like this forever, hold her for a lifetime, strolling slowly, walking towards an unknown future, towards the ends of the earth, would her life then be complete?

She didn’t want to leave his embrace, didn’t want to part from the warmth he provided…

But no matter how reluctant she was, the top of the cliff was ultimately reached.

Baili Xia sighed deeply and gathered her emotions.

Taking another sniff of the vibrant flower, she then, following Mu Xiaojiu’s landing, looked ahead with him.

Upon seeing what lay before her, she was utterly astounded.

A tent, a quilt, a pile of charcoal set up on the ground…

Her heart fluttered, and her nose tingled, almost making her unable to hold back tears.

Everything Brother had said today, everything she had daydreamed about all afternoon, had unexpectedly materialized before her eyes.

Had Brother been so reluctant to bring her here today because he knew that tonight, someone else would take his place in bringing her here?

Uncle…

This man, so prideful that it could kill, had actually given her such a grand surprise!

Compared to Baili Xia’s joy and shock, Mu Xiaojiu at this moment was clearly bothered by something.

Having placed her inside the tent and laid the quilt over her legs and piled snacks in front of her, his eyes darkened and his words carried a hint of apology.

“I… forgot to dig up sweet potatoes.”

He was slightly vexed, having never been seen doing something so foolish before, not even preparing everything properly.

Of course, this was also the first time Mu Xiaojiu had personally gone to the effort of preparing these things for a moment of “romance” for two.

Sweet potatoes, charcoal, and the like, probably wouldn’t be touched by him more than a few times in a lifetime.

“There’s no need, we have plenty of snacks here, enough for us to eat.”

Baili Xia quickly shook her head, already moved by everything Uncle had done for her.

Just the thought of Uncle digging sweet potatoes made her heart ache.

He was the high and mighty Uncle, Mr.

Xiaojiu of Jin City whom everyone revered; how could she let him dig for sweet potatoes.

Uncle crouching in the sweet potato field, digging up sweet potatoes…

The image was too beautiful, almost unthinkable.
