Mu Xiaojiu walked over, sat down at the edge of the tent, and pulled Baili Xia into his arms.

The blanket lifted, covering both of them.

Now, their bodies were even closer.

He scooped up a bag of snacks that was beside them, tore open the package, and handed it to her.

Still, there was hardly any interaction; just an awareness of what each other was doing, Baili Xia didn’t know what to say.

She took the snack bag and began to eat, bite by bite.

The two of them quietly watched the sky, waiting for the moment the meteor shower would arrive.

But it was just past nine, more than two hours away from the meteor shower.

Was it too boring to sit in silence, doing nothing for over two hours?

Doing…

Baili Xia’s cheeks reddened slightly, and she hurriedly shoved a big chip into her mouth, biting down hard.

That wasn’t what she meant; it was just that hugging each other in silence felt really weird.

Actually, had they reconciled now?

But it didn’t feel like they had completely made up…

“Uncle…” After an unknowable amount of time, she suddenly called out softly.

“Mm.” The man responded in a deep voice, his tone flat and without fluctuation.

Baili Xia didn’t know what to make of his response.

The cold war had lasted a very long time.

Since there was such a good opportunity tonight, could they speak their minds?

“Uncle, do you…” The chip she was biting seemed to lose its flavor.

But the questions that had been bottled up for so long would drive her insane if she didn’t voice them.

“Do you… really willing to accept the child now? Uncle…”

The arm around her tightened suddenly, squeezing so fiercely that all the words Baili Xia wanted to say were swallowed back.

He still cared, didn’t he?

Was he still unwilling to trust her?

If he didn’t trust her, why did he bring her here?

If he brought her here but didn’t trust her, why pretend to be nice to her?

She was becoming more and more mystified by this man’s thoughts!

Feeling a surge of frustration, Baili Xia bit her lip, her mood noticeably souring.

He just wouldn’t trust her!

If that was the case, what did it mean to make up with her?

Mu Xiaojiu might or might not have noticed her moodiness; even if he did, perhaps he didn’t take it to heart.

He released her and went over to the glowing heap of charcoal, squatting to turn over a few sweet potatoes on top.

Flames cast their light on him, always revealing an indescribable loneliness.

She was right beside him, and yet he seemed lonely.

Was it because she wasn’t good enough, or because he didn’t like her enough?

Baili Xia watched his resolute profile, the chips in her mouth long since losing their original flavor.

In the air, the aroma of roasted sweet potatoes began to waft through.

Soon, those sweet potatoes were cooked through.

Mu Xiaojiu caught the baked sweet potatoes in some paper plates prepared earlier and brought them back.

Still sitting next to Baili Xia, he carefully started to peel the sweet potatoes for her.

The fragrant, steaming sweet potatoes were quickly presented to Baili Xia.

Yet he remained silent as before, simply doing quietly all he could for her.

Baili Xia took the paper plate and ate slowly, in small bites.

The atmosphere was indescribably weird; the air pressure seemed to be getting lower and lower.

Suddenly, she gave a small cough, and a piece of sweet potato got stuck in her throat, not going down for a while.

The color in Mu Xiaojiu’s eyes deepened, and he immediately started to rummage through the pile of snacks.
