The two of them maintained this posture, their eyes locked as if communicating through looks alone.

Suddenly, a “swish” sound as the curtain between the front and rear seats was pulled closed.

Baili Xia immediately came to her senses and hurriedly pushed Mu Xiaojiu away with all her strength.

At this point, Mu Xiaojiu didn’t make it difficult for her and obediently shifted away from her body.

Baili Xia knew Ye Hua had misunderstood, thinking something was about to happen between them.

She reached out to draw the curtain open again.

But before her hand could touch the curtain, it was seized by Mu Xiaojiu.

“U-Uncle…” She gasped in fright.

Mu Xiaojiu just shook his head faintly, then took Baili Xia’s hand again, getting her to sit closer to him.

“It’s bad to let Ye Hua misunderstand…” she murmured.

There was a competition coming up soon, and being misunderstood like this, even for just a moment, was truly embarrassing.

“He wouldn’t dare.” Simple and domineering – that was synonymous with Uncle.

Feeling helpless, Baili Xia gave up and continued to look at Mu Xiaojiu, silent.

“Is there something else you want to say?”

Only then did Baili Xia open her mouth, starting to complain: “Ning Anran was my work to get out of Sihai Residence, and now, it’s turned into your merit.”

“Fine, it’s your merit.” That little pouty look was really heart-wrenching.

Who cares whose merit it is?

As long as she’s happy.

“Don’t you have anything else to say to me?” Baili Xia glared at him.

That look, filled with unspeakable grievances.

More than a week had passed, without even trying to explain his actions?

Mu Xiaojiu understood her complaints; he was just teasing her a moment ago.

Wrapping her in his arms, he exhaled softly: “Isn’t it better now? The engagement party has been canceled.”

Still, she pouted her lips.

It was better now, indeed, but how worried she had been before!

He must know her concerns; yet, he really hadn’t shared a single word with her, leaving her to worry needlessly for so long.

“I’ve been really busy lately, busier than you can imagine,” he said, still showing a touch of tiredness in his expression.

“Plus, it wasn’t the time for any mess. If someone saw through us, if the old man flared up, to stop any idle talk, he might have insisted on you getting engaged to Xiaoyao. What then?”

Did she think he didn’t want to see her at all?

Not seeing her was just to keep it fail-safe.

Baili Xia pouted again, but deep down, she no longer bore any grudges against him.

Uncle had this kind of ability; he could leave you so frustrated you’d want to punch him hard.

But as soon as he speaks a few words, the resentment you’ve held for so long just vanishes.

Always eaten up by him, did she owe him in her past life?

It was frustrating, yet there was a sweetness, a warmth somewhere in her heart.

She leaned into his embrace: “Uncle, I’m still worried about our identities.

I am Miss Sun of the Mu family now.

If…

if…”

“If what?” Seeing Baili Xia hesitate, Mu Xiaojiu couldn’t help but feel the urge to laugh.

She had just been a fiery lady, and now she had transformed into a gentle and softly loving figure.

Baili Xia lifted her head from his chest, giving Mu Xiaojiu a glance.

Her cheeks were as red as apples, but she finally voiced her doubts.

“If… if we really end up together, you… how can you explain it to the other members of the Eight Big Families?”
