Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 1131
Time slipped away minute by minute, and people from various major families gradually emerged.
As it was nearing twelve o’clock, Baili Xia and Mu Ziying still hadn’t come out.
Mu Xiaojiu felt something was amiss; everyone feared missing the time and usually came out a bit early.
Not coming out at this time, could it be that they encountered an accident inside?
“Where did you last part ways with them?” Mu Xiaojiu suddenly glanced at Mu Ziqing.
Mu Ziqing felt a tingling sensation on her scalp from his gaze and immediately answered, “On the small path leading towards the wild forest.”
“Let’s go.” With a single word spoken succinctly, Mu Xiaojiu stood up and glanced at Zhui Feng not far away.
Zhui Feng was incredibly responsive, as if knowing his thoughts, and immediately rushed over.
Mu Xiaoyao and Mu Lingchuan also stood up and followed him.
They had sensed something was amiss earlier and wanted to go inside, but were still waiting.
Now, even Uncle couldn’t wait any longer; how could they continue to just wait?
The three men each mounted a horse and charged back into the hunting area.
Sitting not far away, Dongfang Jin also noticed the commotion of the three and hurried over to Mu Ziqing’s side, asking, “What happened?”
“I don’t know, Uncle suddenly got up and called them to go together, I think it’s to look for Xiaxia and the others.”
Dongfang Jin’s heart tightened – could something have happened to Baili Xia?
Mu Xiaojiu going in to find her must mean he noticed something wrong.
With that thought, Dongfang Jin shouted towards Dongfang Ji.
The two also mounted their horses and rushed into the hunting area.
…
After Mu Ziqing left, the two followed the direction in which Mu Ziying had seen the wild boar disappear and searched slowly.
Gradually, the two ventured deeper, eventually reaching the deepest part of the forest.
The trees here were clearly much taller than those on the perimeter, lush and dense, making the forest look dimmer.
The ground was covered with particularly tall grass, similar to reeds, leaving no path to walk.
Each step required them to use the machetes they carried to chop down some grass, which was extremely difficult.
The pair took turns chopping in the front, switching when one of them got tired.
As they walked, Mu Ziying suddenly stopped.
Baili Xia nearly bumped into her, just about to speak when Mu Ziying turned sideways and put her finger to her lips.
“Shh…”
Baili Xia also quieted down, peering ahead.
All that was visible ahead were branches and grass; no animals were in sight.
“There’s a sound.” Mu Ziying whispered quietly.
Only then did Baili Xia concentrate on listening and indeed, some faint rustling noises were coming from the trees ahead.
Could it be the wild boar?
Baili Xia felt hopeful.
After chasing for so long, they had finally found traces of a wild boar.
They were already feeling disappointed and planned to turn back if they found nothing.
“Is it a wild boar?” Baili Xia asked softly.
Mu Ziying shook her head: “I don’t know, can’t see…”
Though the voice was very soft, it was clear enough for Baili Xia to hear.
“It seems there are not just one, I heard several.”
Baili Xia leaned forward to listen more carefully.
Indeed, the sound did not seem to come from just one wild boar.
Baili Xia thought for a moment; she remembered learning that wild boars are not gregarious animals.
If there were more than one here, then perhaps they shouldn’t be wild boars.
She shared her doubts with Mu Ziying, who upon hearing, grew even more excited.
