The two quickly realized that it wasn’t just the direction from which they were being chased; even the route ahead for escape was completely blocked by the bodies of wild wolves!

Seeing the wild wolves appear, Baili Xia didn’t hesitate for a second.

“Shoot!” she yelled and was the first to release the long arrow in her hand.

A wild wolf fell, but, the arrow only hit its leg, and after it fell, it immediately got back up.

Baili Xia quickly pulled another arrow from behind and shot it without aiming.

Mu Ziying didn’t stop either, having recovered after the past few moments.

She continuously grabbed arrows and shot, forcing some wolves back, but they quickly regrouped and came at them again.

Due to the power of their arrows, the wolves’ attacks weren’t rapid, but they came in relentless waves.

Logically, if a wolf pack encounters a powerful opponent and suffers significant casualties, they would retreat.

But these wild wolves seemed completely disregarding their losses and kept attacking relentlessly in waves.

Soon, Baili Xia and the others discovered a serious problem – they were almost out of arrows.

There were originally only about twenty arrows in each quiver, and now, only the last two or three remained!

When these arrows were gone, they would have to engage in close combat with the wolves.

Sure enough, when the arrows were completely gone, the remaining thirty or so wolves tightened their encirclement, pressing closer.

It seemed, it was time to end this, preparing for one final assault.

The cunning of wolves is not much different from humans, and sometimes, even more terrifying!

Forced into desperation, Mu Ziying drew the dagger by her boot with her right hand, intending to rush forward and fight desperately.

But after just two steps forward, one of the wolves fixed its gaze on her and howled twice; Ziying, frightened, let out a scream and immediately retreated.

Hand-to-hand combat, how could they?

They could get injured or even disfigured in minutes!

However, the wolves continued to tighten the circle, even if they didn’t face them, the wolves would still press in.

Suddenly, with a howl, the wolf closest to Mu Ziying leaped forward.

“Ah!” Mu Ziying, frightened, swung her dagger, but due to her nerves, it slipped out of her hand with a snap and fell to the ground.

Now, even her only weapon was gone!

The wolf was closing in fast; in a blink, it was right in front of Mu Ziying.

“Xiaxia, save me!”

Suddenly, whoosh, a flash of light shot out, quickly disappearing.

The wolf that had jumped toward Mu Ziying stopped, clearly struggling, and soon fell to the ground.

“Xiaxia…” Ziying, stunned, turned her face to look at Baili Xia.

She saw Baili Xia pressing her right wrist’s bracelet, changing its direction continually.

Ziying then realized what was happening; each press released a slender silver needle from Baili Xia’s bracelet.

Looking at the wolf pack, one by one, the wolves started staggering, and eventually, they slowly fell down.

The other wolves, sensing the threat, hesitated, and some even started to back away.

“Ziying, prepare to fight; I don’t have many silver needles left,” suddenly, Baili Xia said in a grave tone.

If she had known this would happen today, she would have definitely put more tranquilizer needles in the bracelet, especially since it takes several small needles to bring down a wild wolf.

Additionally, with the effect of the drug not being intense, those that fall would get up again after a while.

Baili Xia had barely finished thinking when she pressed the bracelet a few more times, and suddenly, the silver needles were truly out!

Without time to think, she immediately drew the short knife from her waist.

The call for help had only been sent out a short while ago, rescuers wouldn’t arrive so quickly; now, they really had to engage in physical combat!
