Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 1194
“I can see that.” Baili Xia let out a sigh, slowly got up from the couch, and sat up straight.
Looking at Ning An Ran kneeling on the ground, she felt somewhat troubled.
“What kind of image is this?
You are Miss Sun of the Mu family, while I am nothing now.”
“Xiaxia, don’t talk about yourself like that.
Are you still angry with me?” Ning An Ran became anxious, her tears sliding down again.
Baili Xia raised her hand, massaging her temples, only to feel a constant throbbing pain there all evening.
She took a deep breath, trying hard to regulate her breathing before looking at Ning An Ran again, feeling truly bored.
“Get up.
Why are you kneeling before me?
You haven’t done anything to wrong me.”
“Since you are Baili Yang’s granddaughter, I should be the one apologizing to you.”
She exhaled again and, before Ning An Ran could speak, interjected: “However, I won’t apologize, as I’ve done nothing wrong.”
“I know it’s not your fault.
It’s grandfather who has the final say.
Whatever we say doesn’t really matter,” Ning An Ran said with a hoarse voice, choking up.
“Would you please get up?” Baili Xia was really a bit annoyed, tired of the incessant crying and now the kneeling.
If someone saw this, they would think she was bullying her.
Ning An Ran hesitated, unsure whether to get up or not.
Baili Xia glared at her, her expression darkening: “Ning An Ran, I have never bullied you, but your behavior makes it seem like I am always bullying you.”
“Look at yourself now.
If a maid comes in and sees you kneeling before me, they will report back to Sir Mu.”
“He is your grandfather too…” Ning An Ran immediately said.
Baili Xia pursed her lips, unconvinced: “I can’t enjoy such ‘respect’. Are you getting up or not? If you’re not getting up, I’ll go find Brother.”
Ning An Ran let out a sigh, wiped her tears with her hand, and then slowly got up.
Standing before her, she still felt uneasy.
“Xiaxia, I came to apologize to you sincerely.”
“Then did you seek out Uncle to apologize to him too?” Baili Xia asked with a shallow smile.
“I…” Ning An Ran bit her lip, finally nodding her head.
“Why apologize to him?
What have you done to wrong him?”
“I, taking on this identity now, have made you embarrassed.
I know Mr.
Xiaojiu cares about you, and he must be feeling uncomfortable deep inside,” Ning An Ran said.
“How come I haven’t noticed?” Baili Xia waved her hand, moved away, and went next to the coffee table to pour herself a cup of tea.
The tea had already cooled down, but she didn’t mind, as her throat was dry.
Ning An Ran still stood there, looking a bit at a loss.
Looking at Baili Xia’s profile, she tentatively said, “Xiaxia, can we be friends again, just like before, right?”
“I don’t know.” Baili Xia bluntly threw these three words at her.
Plain speaking is better than beating around the bush.
If she didn’t know, then she didn’t know, and she didn’t want to bother thinking about these nonsensical matters.
But her ‘I don’t know’ made Ning An Ran’s eyes instantly redden, and tears almost slid down.
“Actually, I really don’t understand you. You weren’t like this before, always crying at the slightest thing, constantly looking like you’re grievously wronged. But, in fact, who has wronged you?”
Baili Xia didn’t turn around; even without looking at her, she knew she was crying.
Ning An Ran really wasn’t like this before.
What is she trying to do now, appearing so pitiful before her?
