Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 1196
“An Ran, you have your own life now, your own world; you can actually live very well.
There is no need to belittle yourself, my friendship, to you, actually isn’t that important.”
“It is very important.” Ning Anran bit her lip forcefully, with tears glistening in the backdrop of her eyes: “You know I don’t have friends, even in the Mu family, no one aside from Grandpa will truly care for me.”
Baili Xia turned her face away, not looking at the tears in her eyes, her gaze landing on an obscure corner: “It was all your own choice.”
“I’ve never made any choices, yet, here I am at this juncture.”
She really never made any choices, and still things have reached this point, why doesn’t Baili Xia understand, insisting on pinning all faults on her?
“Xiaxia, I beg you, please don’t give up on me, don’t reject me, we can still be friends.”
“Can we not resume our past relationship, stay together nicely?”
“…” Baili Xia retracted her gaze from the distance and stared straight into her face.
Ning Anran didn’t say anything either, only looking at her eagerly as if waiting for her reply.
For a long while neither spoke, the room was quiet and still, the silence causing the atmosphere to become increasingly gloomy and increasingly uncomfortable.
Ning Anran bit her lower lip, took a deep breath, and wanted to say more.
But Baili Xia suddenly said: “You went to confess your feelings to Uncle tonight, and he rejected you, didn’t he?”
“You were at your wits’ end, so you thought since Uncle adores me so much, treats me so well, since you couldn’t have him, why not settle for the next best thing and come back to me.”
“Sweeten me up, and maybe there’s still a chance to repair the relationship with Uncle, am I right?”
“You…”
Ning Anran was startled, her face turning pale all of a sudden.
Looking at Baili Xia, even breathing became somewhat difficult.
Her fingertips trembled incessantly, and finally, her entire body began to shake.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Xiaxia, why do you think so poorly of me?
Xiaxia, you…”
“You’re not that kind of person, but you really did such a thing.”
If she hadn’t come to look for her, Baili Xia would never have guessed, never have truly considered, what Ning Anran’s intentions were in seeking Uncle tonight.
And yet she came out from Uncle’s room in tears.
She really doesn’t want to be Miss Sun from the Mu family; she only wants to be Uncle’s woman.
But Uncle has no intention of accepting her.
Uncle must have ordered her to properly be Miss Sun, and Ning Anran must have been in despair to come looking for her.
Now, seeing her expression, Baili Xia knew she had guessed it all correctly.
Should she applaud her own perspicacity, or should she marvel at Ning Anran’s acting?
For a moment earlier on, she even truly contemplated whether she was being too harsh on Ning Anran, too cruel.
Now, at last, the truth has come to light.
“Are you leaving or not? If you’re not leaving, I’ll go find Brother. I don’t want to see you, so full of deceit; just go.” She waved her hand dismissively and looked away.
Ning Anran clenched her fists, with tears shimmering in her eyes, appearing as if she had something to say but hesitated.
But, in the end, she didn’t speak and turned to leave.
Having been with Baili Xia for over a decade, at least she understood Baili Xia’s character.
If she doesn’t believe, she simply won’t believe; even if Ning Anran exhausted her explanations, she wouldn’t receive a shred of sympathy from her.
Baili Xia’s heart had become very callous, even more so than she could have imagined.
So ruthless, so cruel, was she still the Xiaxia of before?
Baili Xia is no longer the Baili Xia of the past; she has become a terrifying woman.
Truly, how frightening!
