Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 1225
Ever since that time at Mu Group when Baili Xia performed acupuncture on Guisu and found that her technique might really be effective, she asked Xiaoxiao to help her find Guisu’s mobile number by all means possible.
She herself didn’t dare to investigate; if Brother found out, he would surely skin her alive.
Speaking of which, why is Brother acting more and more like a guardian lately, meddling in everything she does?
Anyway, she had been administering acupuncture to Guisu every day during this recent period.
Every time, it was Guisu himself who sought her out, usually around lunchtime.
This afternoon, while with Dongfang Jin, she had already messaged Guisu saying she was in the area and would return soon.
It wasn’t that she feared Dongfang Jin’s interference; she simply didn’t want him to know about it either.
Baili Xia knew it clearly in her heart: when it comes to Guisu, not one of those men, including him, seemed to fancy him at all.
It was probably because of some past grudges.
Moreover, the three-month time frame she promised Guisu was almost up; if Guisu saw Dongfang Jin now…
Baili Xia’s thoughts were a bit scattered, and because she was so distracted, she didn’t notice a motorcycle speeding towards her.
By the time she realized, it was already too late to avoid it.
Baili Xia’s heart tightened, knowing it was too late, yet she still did her utmost to hastily retreat backwards.
Unexpectedly, the motorcyclist also veered the bike, heading straight for her!
He was deliberately trying to hit her; this was no accident!
Baili Xia now had no room left to retreat.
As the front of the motorcycle was about to strike her, she stumbled due to rushing too hastily and a sharp pain shot through her foot.
Her foot was twisted, and she was even less able to get out of the way.
What was more terrifying was that the driver was holding a short knife.
Under her gaze, the blade glinted, and both the motorcycle and the tip of the knife approached her.
“Xiaxia!” Far away, Dongfang Jin, who had witnessed this scene, stomped his foot hard on the pedal, ready to drive through the pedestrian square and hit the motorcycle.
Alas, the distance was too great; there was no chance to make it in time!
At that split-second, utterly despondent Baili Xia instinctively put her hands up in front of her face, bracing for the impact and the intense pain.
But in that very moment, an overwhelming force suddenly surged.
She only felt a tight grip around her waist as she was lifted and hurled towards the flowerbed at high speed.
With a hiss, she distinctly heard the sound of a knife slicing through flesh, and even detected a faint whiff of blood in the air momentarily.
However, Baili Xia felt no pain whatsoever.
Someone was holding her, avoiding the motorcycle and knife attack.
Even as they fell toward the flowerbed, that person held her, and suddenly flipped in mid-air.
Baili Xia, originally on the bottom, was now held atop by him.
As they fell, the man crashed directly into the flowerbed, while she landed in his arms, unharmed.
The motorcycle driver, having missed his target, had already fled at top speed as the motorcycle went down.
After the sound of an abrupt brake, Dongfang Jin got out of the car and hurried over to Baili Xia.
Without paying attention to the fleeing assassin, his first priority was to check on Baili Xia’s injuries.
That figure, swift as the wind, was already beside Baili Xia in the blink of an eye, his large palm scooping her up.
Baili Xia, held in his embrace, turned her eyes to the man who had just been underneath her: “…Guisu?”
