Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 1285
Bei Tianyou escorted his mother back to her room to rest.
Baili Xia, Nangong Xu, and Mu Xiaoyao left the main house and headed toward the Bi Luo Pavilion.
Bi Luo Pavilion was situated at the east end of the courtyard, highlighting Bei Tianyou’s status within the Bei Family.
However, despite Bei Tianyou’s remarkable position as Mr.
Bei, his mother was often treated as an easy target for bullying within the family.
In this regard, Baili Xia never truly understood.
Just now, Tang Jixin claimed she had fallen and injured her hand, but those clearly claw-like marks from an animal—how could Bei Tianyou possibly miss them?
Yet, he said nothing, choosing instead to sweep the matter under the rug.
It was truly unfair to his mother.
Bei Tianyou didn’t seem like someone who would avoid causing trouble.
He hardly appeared to be that sort of person.
In fact, one could immediately tell that he was a proud and aloof figure.
But then, why wouldn’t he stand up for his mother?
Why would he allow her to be bullied without intervening?
Why?
Could it be that emotions in wealthy households are truly so flimsy and indifferent, that even familial ties are disregarded?
Is Bei Tianyou…
really that kind of person?
“What are you thinking about?” Nangong Xu asked as he casually closed the door behind them upon entering.
Noticing that Baili Xia still seemed somewhat lost in thought, he couldn’t help but ask.
“Master, are you very familiar with Nangong Yun? I mean, do you know a lot about her?”
Baili Xia followed Nangong Xu to the corner of the room.
After he sat down, she walked up to him.
“Does she hold considerable power in the Bei Family? Or is her mother particularly influential within the Bei Family?”
Nangong Xu glanced up at her, a flicker of light flashing in his eyes.
After a brief pause, he nodded.
“Her mother is currently one of the two people most trusted by the Old Madam.”
He was taken aback by how her thinking had moved beyond the surface level—it really set her apart from ordinary girls.
Nangong Yun’s influence here was indeed significant, but it largely stemmed from her mother’s position.
“And the other one? Is it Mr. Bei?” Baili Xia pressed him further.
“Based on the information we’ve received so far, that appears to be the case. But these are just surface matters. Who can truly know what the Old Madam is thinking?”
She seemed overly preoccupied with these issues.
Why wasn’t she asking about something more important?
Baili Xia tilted her head slightly, pondering for a moment, but she couldn’t help furrowing her brows.
“Bei Qingyue is favored, and as her daughter, Nangong Yun wields such power. Yet on the other hand, Mr. Bei enjoys favor, but his mother lives such a humiliating life.”
She simply couldn’t make sense of it.
The lives of those in wealthy families were far too complicated—definitely not something ordinary people could endure.
“Girl, aren’t you forgetting something really important?”
Nangong Xu ignored her current question.
One family couldn’t fully understand another’s internal affairs.
At least for now, these matters held no significance.
But in the future…
they might prove to be very important for her.
Being prompted by him, Baili Xia thought hard and then suddenly remembered.
Her bright, crystal-like black eyes instantly widened.
She stared at Nangong Xu and asked anxiously, “What about it? Did we get the report?”
After all the chaos in the main hall earlier, she had somehow completely forgotten such a crucial matter.
She had spent the entire morning feeling nervous about this, and now that people had come back, she had somehow let it slip her mind.
“With your Brother on the case, how could it not be done?” Nangong Xu glanced at Mu Xiaoyao, who was quietly sipping tea at the side.
Baili Xia also turned to look back at him.
As expected, her Brother had indeed teamed up with her Master today to deal with the matter of getting the report.
