The Second Lady was said to have died of illness, but whether that was true or not, nobody really knew.

All anyone was certain of was that the Bei Family is now under the rule of the Old Madam, and the Second Lady passed away not long after the Old Madam came into power.

The Old Master had six children—the eldest son, Bei Kuangri, is Bei Tianyou’s father.

Bei Kuangri, though unlike the Old Master who openly married two wives, similarly had two women.

The women mentioned here were, of course, those acknowledged by everyone.

As for how many women he might have outside, no one could say.

“Are men from wealthy families really all this insatiably greedy?” Hearing this, Baili Xia couldn’t help but mutter.

The Old Master had two wives, and nobody knew how many women he had outside.

The elder gentleman was the same—endlessly surrounded by women.

Because they were so rich and effortlessly able to obtain whatever they wanted, were women reduced to such insignificant things in their eyes?

As certain thoughts crossed her mind, the sparkle in her brilliant, shining eyes instantly dimmed.

She was merely one among Uncle’s many women—a single agreement had bound her as Uncle’s mistress.

But in truth, after her, would Uncle seek other mistresses?

Who could say?

No, he absolutely would.

After all, he was a young, virile man, brimming with energy and desire.

Wealthy, powerful, and incomparably handsome—with his figure and looks alone, even if he didn’t actively search, countless women would willingly throw themselves at him.

She…

ultimately would remain nothing more than a fleeting visitor in Uncle’s life.

Why were these men with power and influence destined to never be faithful, never sincerely devoted to just one woman for their entire lives?

Why was this so unfair?

Mu Xiaoyao faced her, unable to decipher what was going through this girl’s mind.

Still, to extinguish the light in her eyes so completely, perhaps in all the world, only Uncle could do that.

“Uncle isn’t that kind of person.” Unsure of what else to say, Mu Xiaoyao could only offer this.

Uncle would never be the type to toy with women’s feelings.

Before Baili Xia, he hadn’t been close to any woman at all.

But some matters, even he couldn’t understand.

The relationship between Uncle and Baili Xia could only be resolved by the two of them themselves.

Baili Xia said nothing, merely bowing her head and staring at her intertwined fingers.

What kind of person Uncle was…

she no longer wanted to think about it.

Mu Xiaoyao paused briefly but then resumed explaining the details he’d uncovered about the Bei Family.

Among Bei Kuangri’s two women, the one he formally married was Tang Jixin, Bei Tianyou’s mother.

The other woman, Qi Weiwei, had been by Bei Kuangri’s side since she was sixteen.

At eighteen, she bore him a daughter named Bei Yulin.

Currently, over in the main residence, Bei Tianyou resides in the eastern wing, while Bei Kuangri, his two women, and his daughter Bei Yulin live in the western wing.

The Old Master’s second son, Bei Shengri, and fourth son, Bei Junnian, were both born to the Second Lady.

After establishing their own families, they moved out of the Bei Family estate and set up their own households nearby.

They weren’t far from the Bei Family—very close, actually—but ultimately, they were no longer living under the same roof.

The third daughter, Bei Qingyue, along with the eldest son and the sixth daughter, were all children of the Madam.

Perhaps it’s human nature to be partial, and these three had always lived within the Bei Family estate.

Children born to one’s own wife versus those born to someone else inherently seemed different—especially when it came to the offspring of a concubine?
