In fact, Bei Tianyou really guessed correctly.

On any other day, Baili Xia would definitely prefer the two simpler outfits.

But today, there was something different.

Because her mood was different.

Why confine herself to some rigid mold?

Everyone thought she should be the sweet and innocent girl, but she just didn’t want to be.

Today, Baili Xia didn’t want to be innocent at all.

Innocence, sometimes, could really be a deadly trap.

So, she chose the striking violet one.

The tight violet dress clung to her figure, highlighting her tall and slender silhouette.

With its snug fabric and elegant drape, it perfectly accentuated the most breathtaking curves of her body.

Usually, her loose-fitting clothes hid them, but now with this form-fitting evening gown, one could finally see how stunning her figure truly was.

As she descended the spiral staircase, that breathtaking sight from below left the two men sitting in the hall completely stunned.

Mu Xiaoyao didn’t know when he had come downstairs.

When Baili Xia was coming down, he and Bei Tianyou were sitting together, drinking tea.

Seeing Baili Xia in the tight violet evening gown as she came down, his gaze unconsciously swept over her proudly raised chest, and in an instant, the blood in his entire body seemed to flow in reverse at full speed.

His head felt a bit dizzy, and his heart was inexplicably pounding madly.

Pressing a hand to his chest, for the first time, he found himself wondering—how could merely looking at a woman cause his heart to race like this?

He even began to suspect whether there was something wrong with his heart.

“Brother, you’re here too.” Baili Xia stepped forward, frowning as she walked: “This dress is so long; wearing flats doesn’t match at all.”

Getting no response, Baili Xia raised her head to look at the two men on the sofa.

She saw Mu Xiaoyao staring at her without blinking, his large hand still pressed against his chest.

Her brows furrowed, and she suddenly felt a hint of unease: “Brother, are you hurt?”

That expression of holding his chest and frowning—it really didn’t look good.

“…My chest feels a bit tight. I’ll ask Mr. Nangong for some medicine later.”

Mu Xiaoyao abruptly stood up, seemingly avoiding her gaze, and strode towards the west wing upstairs.

A woman’s body truly was so different from a man’s.

His nose felt a bit heated, and Mu Xiaoyao dared not stay any longer.

In the blink of an eye, his tall figure had left the hall and disappeared at the top of the spiral staircase.

Baili Xia watched him walk past her, like a gust of wind.

His pace was so fast, she didn’t even have time to see the expression on his face before he was gone.

Walking away in such haste—could it be… that he really got hurt?

Images of her uncle hiding his injuries from her flashed through her mind again, stirring up her memories.

Instantly, Baili Xia’s heart was filled with worry.

“Brother You, I’ll go check on Brother.” After hurriedly addressing Bei Tianyou, she turned and headed upstairs.

Bei Tianyou, left behind, had already regained his usual composure.

Yet as he glanced towards the spiral staircase, his star-like eyes narrowed slightly.

Hurt?

Earlier, there didn’t seem to be anything out of the ordinary…

Inside Mu Xiaoyao’s room, Mu Xiaoyao had just stepped inside and sat down on the bed when Baili Xia followed right in.

Seeing him still clutching his chest and furrowing his thick brows, she hurried up to him: “Brother, where are you hurt?

Let me take a look.”

“I’m not hurt.” Mu Xiaoyao’s voice was a bit hoarse.

She was standing too close, and without meaning to, his gaze kept getting tangled on her body.

And the more he looked, the harder his heart pounded.

“Stay away from me.” Mu Xiaoyao’s voice turned even huskier as he gently pushed her away.
