Baili Xia turned around and was about to leave.

Unexpectedly, just as she took a step forward, her wrist was tightly gripped by someone.

“Brother,” she barely had time to resist before Mu Xiaoyao gently wrapped his arm around her and began walking toward the center of the banquet hall with her.

“Brother!” Baili Xia was genuinely a bit angry.

He knew full well she didn’t want to see Uncle, yet he still boldly dragged her over.

“You can hit me all you want when we get back.” Mu Xiaoyao’s tone was calm, not even sparing her a glance.

How sharp was Uncle’s gaze?

The moment she thought about leaving, he had already noticed.

One cold, intimidating glare was enough to scare anyone to death.

Did he dare not comply?

Uncle wanted to see the girl.

Now, running away was not an option.

Baili Xia bit her lips, knowing that this guy was just as stubborn as a bull.

Although it looked like he was holding her gently, the force pressing on her shoulder was far from light.

She couldn’t break free at all.

Reluctantly, she could only follow him as they moved toward the center of attention in the crowd.

The small hand that hung at Mu Xiaoyao’s side discreetly slipped into his casual jacket and pinched his waist hard.

Mu Xiaoyao’s thick eyebrows furrowed slightly, but he simply pressed his thin lips together without making a single sound.

This girl really didn’t hold back!

Who would’ve thought being pinched by a woman could hurt so much?

That pinch was so painful it made his nose tingle.

Luckily, after that vicious pinch, it seemed she’d finally let out some of her frustration.

No longer deliberately mismatching her steps, she now quietly walked alongside him toward Mu Xiaojiu.

Mu Xiaojiu was with Bei Tianyou, and everyone nearby wanted to approach and introduce themselves to the famed Mr.

Xiaojiu from Jin City.

It wasn’t easy for Mu Xiaoyao to lead Baili Xia through the crowd to get in front of him.

“Uncle.” Breaking through the crowd, the two of them finally reached Mu Xiaojiu.

Mu Xiaoyao immediately called out.

Baili Xia pouted slightly.

Even though she was unwilling, she still followed suit and said, “Uncle.”

“I heard this girl pretended to be Baili Xia’s granddaughter and freeloaded off the Mu family for a period of time,”

a coy and seductive voice from Nangong Yun immediately rang out beside Mu Xiaojiu.

“Now that her trick has been exposed, isn’t it inappropriate that she’s still calling Mr. Xiaojiu ‘Uncle’?”

No one responded to her.

Although the surrounding crowd started murmuring among themselves after hearing her words, and their gazes at Baili Xia grew more suspicious,

neither Mu Xiaojiu nor Bei Tianyou said a word.

Who among them dared to speak recklessly in this situation?

“Girl, come here.” Mu Xiaojiu seemed as if he hadn’t heard Nangong Yun’s remarks at all—or if he had, he treated them as meaningless noise.

He looked at Baili Xia, his attractive thin lips curving into a slight smile.

“Come over and let Uncle see how you’ve been doing in the Bei Family lately.”

Being singled out to walk over, Baili Xia was truly unwilling, deeply unwilling.

However, with so many eyes on her, she couldn’t bring herself to outright refuse.

After giving Mu Xiaoyao another hard pinch in the waist, she reluctantly shuffled over to Mu Xiaojiu.

“It’s been great here. Brother You and the Old Madam have been treating me well. I’ve even gained weight,” she pouted.

Though her words said she was doing great, the pout on her lips suggested otherwise, as if she had suffered some grievance while in the Bei Family.

Judging from the scene, however, it seemed this girl was deeply favored by Mr.

Xiaojiu.

“Mr. Xiaojiu, she’s no longer the Mu family’s Miss Sun. She has no right to call you Uncle!” Nangong Yun exclaimed again.

Baili Xia didn’t even want to spare her a glance.

The once shrewd Nangong Yun—how did she become this foolish now?
