Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 1332
“Who exactly was that person? Did you catch up to them?”
Back in the room, Baili Xia placed the pale red camellia blossom onto a tall glass.
She added a bit of water inside, hoping it could live a few extra days in her space.
Mu Xiaoyao was sitting at the desk, working on undoing the constraints on the defense system of Youyang Pavilion.
“No idea. Couldn’t catch up to them, let them go,” he said flatly.
“Then…
do you think they know about us?”
“Probably not.
They’re just someone who intruded in here.”
Mu Xiaoyao didn’t seem too bothered by the matter.
“Once they noticed someone was in the courtyard, they immediately left.”
That’s precisely why he’d decided to give chase.
He figured the intruder wasn’t one of the mansion’s security personnel.
So, if he pursued them,
the intruder would naturally assume he was just a patrolling guard, and they wouldn’t grow suspicious.
If he hadn’t given chase and had instead fled the scene like the intruder, they might suspect he was also an uninvited trespasser.
Baili Xia sighed internally—her tech-savvy brother turned out to be rather clever after all.
“That person likely didn’t mean any harm. Perhaps they came here to pay respects to Bei Qingyou.”
The camellia left on the tombstone must have been placed there by them.
She simply couldn’t understand who else, amid the risks of trespassing into this mansion at night, would enter Youyang Pavilion just to offer a flower to Bei Qingyou.
That fleeting figure dressed in white—it was strange, but it was starting to grow on her.
She even found herself hoping she could see them again.
No matter who they were, as long as they meant well for Bei Qingyou, she felt grateful.
“Brother, can you stay tonight? Keep me company?” She suddenly asked.
Mu Xiaoyao’s fingertips stilled, his heartbeat momentarily out of rhythm.
But he quickly composed himself, finishing up his work.
He closed his laptop before turning to look at her, his gaze flickering with a hint of complexity.
“Making a man stay overnight to keep you company—are you sure this is a good idea?”
“Ugh, you don’t even like women. Forget staying over; even sleeping side-by-side with you, what’s the big deal?”
Baili Xia didn’t bother to look at him as she walked over to the wardrobe to rummage for her pajamas.
Mu Xiaoyao almost felt like coughing up blood in frustration!
This girl actually thought he liked men rather than women.
What on earth had he done to make her think that way?
He asked himself—was there anything about him that seemed effeminate?
On the contrary, wasn’t he far more rugged than most men?
Had she missed how the muscles across his entire body could intimidate anyone, or that his punches could take down a tiger?
And yet, she thought he liked men…
Still, given the current sensitive circumstances, protecting her was a task entrusted to him by their uncle.
If her assumption eased her wariness toward him, perhaps it wasn’t such a bad thing after all.
“Are you sure you want me to stay?” He tilted his head to look at her.
Baili Xia had already grabbed her pajamas and was heading toward the bathroom.
“Bring the gaming console; tonight, I’m going to settle the score.”
Her brother’s gaming skills were downright terrifying—so good they’d make anyone want to cry in frustration.
Going up against him felt like a lost cause.
Just before disappearing into the bathroom, Baili Xia poked her head out again, eyeing Mu Xiaoyao, who was about to head back to his room to grab the games.
“Brother, tonight, can you only use two fingers?”
“…”
This little troublemaker—she truly had no boundaries!
“Winning against me like that—wouldn’t you feel ashamed?”
“Nope.” Baili Xia didn’t care in the slightest, grinning brightly as she said, “As long as I win, it’s still a win. Whether you use one hand or two fingers, or even just two hands—losing is still losing.”
