Only after those people crossed the first mound did they realize that Guisu and Baili Xia had escaped.

At this point, they no longer cared about Guisu, after all, they had guns, while the others had nothing.

A group of people mustered their courage and quickly chased in the direction Baili Xia and Guisu had fled.

After crossing several mounds, Baili Xia was so exhausted she was out of breath.

Seeing this, Guisu simply carried her in his arms and sprinted away.

He was indeed strong, carrying Baili Xia with a speed that did not slow much from before.

But ultimately, they were slower, and over time, the people behind got closer and closer, with occasional gunshots echoing.

Baili Xia was horribly anxious, but she had no solution.

These were mountain paths, entirely unfamiliar to her; running on her own wouldn’t be as fast as Guisu carrying her.

Suddenly, Baili Xia, holding Guisu’s arm, felt something hot and wet in her hand.

She lifted her hand to see it was full of blood.

“You’re injured!”

She looked at Guisu, whose face was covered in beads of sweat as big as beans, dripping onto Baili Xia.

“Put me down, I can run on my own!” Baili Xia shouted.

But Guisu had no intention of putting her down, still holding her tightly.

Due to the intense movement, blood flowed faster from Guisu’s arm, and his running speed began to taper off.

“Guisu, listen to me, put me down! You’re leaving a trail of blood on the path, we can’t get away like this.”

Guisu glanced back, sure enough, the path behind was marked with blood.

However, he still didn’t put down Baili Xia; instead, he quickened his pace even more.

Watching Guisu push through with gritted teeth, Baili Xia’s heart bled for him.

This man was too stubborn, and if he were to fall, could she still manage to run?

If he let her down, she could still go, just not as fast as him.

So stubborn!

“Over there, there are woods over there.”

Suddenly spotting a forest, Baili Xia shouted to Guisu as if finding a savior.

Without her saying so, Guisu had already noticed the woods and quickly turned towards them.

Soon, they reached the woods, but Guisu did not stop and continued deep into the forest.

Along the way, to hide the blood trail, he deliberately took many detours.

After running for about twenty minutes, Guisu stopped against a large tree.

Slowly, he set Baili Xia on the ground and slumped down.

“Guisu, how are you?”

Baili Xia hurriedly knelt beside him and lifted his arm to check.

“Let me rest for a while, help me stop the bleeding,” Guisu said hoarsely, looking at her.

The massive blood loss had rendered him weak; if not for Baili Xia, he would have long stopped to face their pursuers.

“We need to remove the bullet.” His arm bore only a dark hole, glistening with fresh red blood.

Baili Xia took out a medical kit, extracting scissors to cut open his shirt around the wound.

Suddenly, Guisu raised his hand to grab hers.

“No, there’s no time. They’re trained and will find us quickly. Listen to me, just stop the bleeding first!”

Seeing Baili Xia’s slightly reddened eyes, he conjured a faint smile and said lightly.

“Don’t worry, I can hold on; this kind of wound won’t kill me.”

To think, when injured, there was someone willing to feel heartache for him, to genuinely shed tears—it was such a good feeling.

In the past, beside Lu Xuening, he occasionally got injured too, but Lu Xuening would only be worried that if he got hurt, no one would do things for her.

But this girl in front of him, she really…hurt for him!
